UHCL/CAMP Certificate Programs In general, registration in courses offered by CAMP is open to all interested individuals with a reasonable ability to do collegelevel work. Despite the ability to enroll in courses on a more casual basis, a sizeable number of individuals interested in personal and professional development elect to complete certificate programs. Certificate programs provide an academically sound, structured course of study. CAMP’s professional certificates serve as formal recognition of your competency and expertise in a specific subject area. Moreover, certificate programs offer the skills, persistency and competencies employers are interested in seeking. In many cases, professional development certificate programs may be more relevant than an advanced degree. They are designed for working adults with a particular focus that concentrates on a specialized study to complement and expand existing knowledge and skills. Courses are structured and focused on meeting your job and career requirements and goals. Many individuals with college degrees and even advanced degrees are pursuing certificate programs – primarily to energize their careers, update professional expertise, explore emerging specialties in new fields of study, justify promotion and create opportunities for a new career. Completing a certificate program documents a specialized course of study and emphasizes your commitment to professional enrichment and development. Current tax law permits deductions for educational expenses, including registration fees, travel, meals and lodging to maintain or improve professional skills.
