Chamber of Commerce Welcomes You!

Celebrating Business Success Success Beyond the Lemonade Stand

Many of today’s business leaders told us, a lemonade stand was their first venture into the ‘for profit’ business realm. Those business experiences became powerful drivers towards their entrepreneurship and business success today. We recognize that same entrepreneurial spirit in many of Campbell River’s youth and young professionals today. It’s the reason why we chose the lemonade stand as the theme for representing creativity, innovation, determination and striving for business excellence. Our Chamber is a business partner with our local business and community leaders, promoting the

importance of early business literacy, and the valuable experiences that are gained from owning and operating a business. As we celebrate tonight’s achievements we can all be proud of the leadership and contributions these nominees and award recipients have made to our community.

Event Program vip reception | 5:30 pm

• Private champagne and appetizer reception for awards nominees, sponsors and special guests gala award reception | 6:00 pm

A Message from Chamber Board As Board Chair of your Chamber of Commerce, it is a privilege to be a part of helping to facilitate that growth. But for all of things that we at the Chamber do, it is really you, the members of our business community that are generating that growth and that energy. I would like to thank the members of Campbell River’s business community for your drive, your entrepreneurial spirit, your determination to succeed, your vision, your hard work and your generosity. All of these things go in to making our business community what it is; a true community unto itself, and an integral part of the broader community of Campbell River. We recently launched our “Think Local” initiative to continue to draw focus to our business community and the ways in which we can work together to support each other and to improve the lives of all the people of Campbell River. Campbell River right now is looking ahead to a period of phenomenal opportunity, by “Thinking Local” we can ensure that this is a period of phenomenal growth for all of us. The Business Awards of Distinction too continue to grow year after year along with the strength of our pool of nominees. On behalf of the Chamber Board, our heartfelt congratulations goes out to each and every one of this year’s nominees. – Mike Boulet, Chamber Board Chair

Through hearing assessments and hearing aid fittings & consults, we help our clients hear better. Our main objective, however, is to help them listen and communicate better. Thus, our services go beyond merely fitting hearing aids and into things like education and communication therapy. We opened our first clinic in 100 Mile House in 1997 and opened our doors in Campbell River in 2010. In an effort to provide hearing solutions to our North Island friends, we also opened a satellite clinic in Port McNeill last year. In addition to owner/operators Jana and Martin Jurek, we employ a staff of three plus one student worker.

Epic Design Studio Ltd. Started as a dream of one day applying my personal art skills into my own future business! I started using the name Epic Design since I was in high school doing art work for t-shirts, business logos, marketing designs and more. It finally led me to open up shop offering fun elements I could offer, designs of all kinds, signs, website design, vehicle wraps, art printing to canvas, t-shirt printing, tradeshow displays in May of 2007. We evolved quite rapidly from just being owner/operator to needing 2 production staff and 1 front office person.

Excel Pest Solutions has been servicing Campbell River and surrounding areas since 2007. Owner Tod Dugas attributes his success to his hard work ethic and strong customer service background. Excel Pest Solutions provides professional pest control services for residential and commercial customers. At Excel customer service is our highest priority. Kent and Rosemarie Roduck

250-830-8522 info@islandjoyrides.com

In 1993, Kent and Rosemarie established Comox Valley Funeral Home in Courtenay, since there was only one such provider in the Valley it was clear the population was expanding. By 2000, the same was true of Campbell River and they saw value in establishing themselves there. Since Campbell River had no crematorium and since options such as columbarium for above ground urn placement and a garden for scattering of cremated remains had not been available, Island Funeral Services approached the City of Campbell River to fill that void at Elk Falls Cemetery. For the convenience of the families they serve, the establishment of a bright open-concept arrangement, pre-arrangement office downtown at Georgia Quay was established and has worked extremely well. Our philosophy is to educate and inform families as to the varied options to serve the nearly 90% who choose cremation in the Campbell River area and to provide a locally owned, state of the art facility.

Island Joy Rides is a boutique active travel company owned and operated by people who believe that the best way to experience our area is from the seat of a bicycle. We offer guided, self-guided, day, combo, multi-day, custom and corporate cycling experiences that link nature, arts, and culture of Comox Valley, Campbell River, Quadra and Denman Islands. From First Nations cultural sites, local artists, and stunning scenic spots to wineries, artisanal food producers, and sustainable farms to the whale watching, hiking and kayaking; our goal is have our guests experience our island home as we do and to feel the exhilaration and joy of traveling through beautiful surroundings under their own power.

A concise event and activity publication from entertainment to sport, community events, and fundraisers, the Whats On quickly became the number one go to guide for things to do in Campbell River and now the island. IT’S OFFICIAL! It is with great pride and pleasure that we welcome Karin Moeller and Sandra Masales to the Royal LePage family. This week new signage was installed in both Port Hardy and Port McNeill for what was once Hardy Realty. The ladies are excited about the changes and will be maintaining the same customer service and dedication that has been the hallmark of Hardy Realty all these years. By joining forces, it is our belief that we will be able to provide even greater and more far reaching options and service levels to our clients whether they are right here on the North Island, Mainland, across Canada or International.
