LETTER FROM HONOR CHAIR This has been an extremely special experience serving alongside my mother, Rosa Navejar, as Honor Chair for An Artists’ Christmas. It is perfect that we did this together because our first involvement with Camp Fire programs was also together. Her as a working parent who, along with my father, needed a quality and safe program after school, and me as a Camp Fire kid, attending Diamond Hill Station. I was in elementary school when, like hundreds of other children still do today, I went to a Camp Fire After School program while my parents both worked. While there, we participated in different programs and activities. I remember during the summer we would put on a talent show and my friends and I would choreograph dance routines. Thirty years later, I still keep in touch with some of my friends that I made at Diamond Hill Station. My time there helped me develop lifelong friends and skills to shape who I am today. Reflecting on my time at Camp Fire, the program had such an impact and it is humbling to be able to give back to this organization in such a meaningful way as Honor Chair helping pave the way for the next generation of youth benefiting from Camp Fire programs. My parents needed a safe place for me after school, but what we found at Camp Fire has positively impacted my life. Thank you for joining us and General Chair Lisa D. Mares as, together, we support the lifechanging work of Camp Fire First Texas. So bid, buy and donate knowing every penny is supporting the future for generations of North Texans!

Youth in Camp Fire develop abilities to: ++ Resolve conflicts ++ Be inclusive of others ++ Have empathy ++ Think before acting ++ Have purpose ++ Be confident 20
Since its founding in 1914, Camp Fire First Texas continues to provide a framework for youth to grow and succeed in life. Currently serving more than 24,000 children, youth, families and child care providers annually, First Texas is one of the largest councils in the country. In Camp Fire, children and youth find a safe, fun and inclusive place – a place where they form lasting relationships, learn to make healthy choices, build new talents and have a sense of belonging.
Camps & Outdoors Overnight Camp & Nature Day Camp Since 1934, Camp El Tesoro in Granbury has inspired generations of campers. Overnight camp programs are offered throughout the summer in sessions that range from 4- and 6-days up to two and four weeks. Day camp is offered in weekly sessions. Camp sparks a child’s love of the outdoors and packs a punch of excitement by combining activities like archery and canoeing with nature studies, hands-on experiments and projects to gain an appreciation of the world around them.
Texas Outdoor Education Center The Texas Outdoor Education Center (TxOEC) at El Tesoro was founded to support the outdoor education needs of school children of all ages. The curriculum and programming provide environmental literacy and a deeper understanding of how earth and human systems interact. Using an exploration approach, TxOEC lessons are customizable by grade, unit, and subject and are aligned with the Texas Education Agency’s Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.

Professional Growth Early Education Apprenticeship Program Launching in 2020, the Early Education Apprenticeship Program (EEAP) is an educational and career pathway building program. The first U.S. Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program for early childhood educators in the State of Texas, the EEAP includes paid on-the-job learning, coupled with educational courses and one-on-one coaching in the classroom from a Camp Fire mentor.
School Readiness Program More than 85% of brain development occurs in the first three years of life. Camp Fire School Readiness helps make the most of those years by providing on-site mentoring, professional development and educational materials to early education programs that feed into Fort Worth ISD. Students who have been part of the Camp Fire program have higher reading and math scores than their peers for the duration of their elementary school career, not just upon entering kindergarten.
And more: Professional Development Courses
Child Care and After School After School After school programs make the most of children’s out of school time. Through STEM focused activities, tinker spaces and meaningful adult interaction, youth are encouraged to explore their interests in a project-based approach. Additionally, each site provides homework assistance and dedicated time for outdoor exploration.
Child Development Center and Demonstration School The Camp Fire Child Development Center provides highquality early education and care for children age six weeks through pre-k and serves as a community resource to model research-based best practices.
