CAMPSMOUNT A Co-operative Academy

14 October 2013 Dear Applicant Thank you for your interest in the post of Headteacher at Campsmount (A Co-operative Academy). Our school has much to offer a highly motivated and inspirational leader and I hope that you are that person and that you will decide to apply for the position. The vacancy arises due to our current Headteacher leaving the school to take up a new position. He has led the school with considerable skill and expertise through a period of challenge and change. In December 2009 the school suffered a devastating fire that destroyed most of the buildings. As a result, we spent almost two years in temporary accommodation whilst the school underwent a programme of rebuilding; we now have a state of the art learning environment. In spite of this difficult and challenging time, standards of achievement have continued to improve. In December 2010 Ofsted inspected the school, whilst we were in Portakabins, and we achieved a ‘Good with Outstanding features’ rating; we were very proud of this achievement. Furthermore, and as a consequence of these successes, we converted to academy status in May 2012. We have a very strong community ethos and we are proud of the care, guidance and support we give our students. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of learners whilst challenging them to aspire and achieve highly. Indeed, we have established very positive relationships with parents, carers and the local community and this has understandably contributed to the improvement in academic standards and achievement over recent years. The school, after a number of challenging years, is in a superb position to further improve and we are looking for a candidate who will build on our current success and lead the school to an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted judgement. If you are looking for such a rewarding challenge then we welcome your application. The closing date for applications is Monday 4 November 2013 at 12 noon, shortlisting will be completed on Tuesday 5 November 2013 with interviews taking place on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 November 2013. I hope you will see this as a fantastic opportunity and consider joining us at such an exciting time. Yours sincerely

David McEwan
