ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE We have a list of all emergency phone numbers as provided by the main office and your consent forms. If your phone number changes for any reason, it is VITAL that you let us know. Staff will have mobile phones on the trip for EMERGENCY USE ONLY and we will contact you via these if there are any problems. Students can take mobile phones on the trip but be advised that use abroad is expensive and they take them at their own risk. There will probably be a pay phone at the hotel should your child wish to ring home. EUROPEAN HEALTH INSURANCE CARD Every student will have a valid EHIC that will be looked after by each student’s team manager. Mrs. Smith will look after all medications. Please inform Mrs. Smith of any medication taken by your child and hand this in before we depart on the day. The medication must be labeled with your child’s full name and dosage to be taken. INSURANCE POLICY General travel insurance for each student is covered through Acorn. However, we advise that expensive equipment / clothing be left at home or brought at your own risk. POCKET MONEY We recommend a sum of approximately £100 - £150, which you should change into €uros prior to the trip. This will be to buy any drinks or snacks required on both the outward and return journeys as well as spending money for souvenirs etc. on the day excursion into Barcelona. All other food and drinks are included in the cost of the trip. CODE OF BEHAVIOUR Alcohol We will not allow / tolerate students to consume or purchase alcohol for themselves, or to purchase duty free items for presents. Please do not ask your child to do this, as it is illegal. Smoking Smoking is prohibited in the hotel complex and at any time on tour. Behaviour All students must recognize that general behaviour expectations apply to this trip. This is to help with the impression we give as a school but also to ensure the safety of everybody on the trip. All instructions must be followed with out exception.

WE FEEL SURE THAT YOUR CHILD WILL REPRESENT BOTH YOU AND THE SCHOOL IN THE BEST POSSIBLE MANNER AND RESPECT THESE RULES.

SECURITY & FACILITIES

SECURITY Extract from Acorn Travel Website

“We set our standards at the highest level and never compromise and our unsurpassed Safety Management System has been developed in conjunction with RoSPA, following Health & Safety Executive guidelines.

Acorn has consistently been at the forefront of driving up safety awareness and standards in the school and group travel industry. We are assured members of the School Travel Forum, dedicated to promoting best practice and safety in school travel. All Full Members of the STF adhere to a rigorous Code of Practice and Safety Management Standards that are externally verified each year by leading Health and Safety consultants.

The STF Code of Practice provides assurances on safety provisions made by tour operators in connection with third-party accommodation, transport and visits. It is not, however intended to cover the safety of activity or accommodation aspects of adventure centres, for which an appropriate Code of Practice is operated by the British Activity Holiday Association (BAHA). Products operated by our company and which comply to standards operated by BAHA, as opposed to the STF Code, are clearly marked as such in our product descriptions.

All our procedures are in line with DfES guide 'Health and Safety of Pupils on Educational Visits' (HASPEV) and our Health and Safety policy covers all aspects of safety on your trip.”
