About Our Trainers Our personal trainers are highly qualified with credentials including university degrees and certifications from accredited health/fitness associations. Many of our trainers are students pursuing degrees in health/fitness professions.

Fitness Testing

The Fitness Assessment program will determine the following components of health-related physical fitness: body composition, cardio-respiratory endurance, flexibility, muscular strength, and endurance.

Personal Training Packages Services and Rates

Fitness Assessment provides a great starting point for you and your personal trainer to build that new lifestyle! This service is mandatory before starting your personal training sessions. Student- $25 Faculty/Staff- $30

Personal Training Packages- A session will include goal setting, health and fitness education, programming to meet your individual needs, and motivation to help you achieve your stated goals. 1 session: Student- $30 3 sessions: Student- $85 6 sessions: Student-$165 8 sessions: Student- $210 16 sessions: Student- $400 32 sessions: Student- $770

The fitness assessment consists of three sessions in order to create a through evaluation and “game plans” to help meet the client’s goals: Student-$ 60 Faculty/Staff-$ 95

Session Descriptions Equipment Orientation: Student- Free Faculty/Staff- Free This service is perfect for a person who has never stepped foot into the Recreation Center and knows very little about exercising. We will show you the basics of the machines in the Fitness Center. This is a very introductory service and will only provide you with the basics to get you started! Body Fat: Student- $5 Facutly/Staff- $5 A staff member will measure three sites to determine your body composition. We will provided you with percentages of fat, muscle, as well as height and weight data. Medicine Ball Training: Student- $10 Faculty/Staff- $10 We will take you into the Fitness Center and show you different exercises that can be done with the medicine balls to improve your workout. Revamp Consultation: Student- $5 Faculty/Staff- $5 Are you stuck in a rut? Come meet with a personal trainer and learn some new ideas to bring spice back to your workout time! Flexibility Training: Student- $10 Faculty/Staff- $10 Are you so sore after your workout that it makes you not want to come back to the Rec Center and workout again? Set up an appointment with us to learn flexibility exercises to increase your range of motion and decrease some of that soreness! Custom Cardio: Student- $5 Faculty/Staff- $5 Have you been working and working without achieving the results you want? We can teach you how to work at the correct intensity using tools such as your Heart Rate Training Zone and the Rate of Perceived Exertion. We will ensure that you are working at the correct intensity to achieve your goals! Partner Package: Don’t want to workout by yourself? Want your friends to join in on a healthier lifestyle? Then this is the package deal for you! You and your friends can purchase shared sessions between two friends who have common levels of fitness and goals. Or 8 sessions shared between two individuals. Boot Camp This high-intensity class will work every part of your body with drills and combinations to burn fat and tone your muscles!

Mind/Body Classes:

Montclair State University and Campus Recreation offer a wide variety of Group Xercise classes that are available to Recreation Center members and active students. Group Xercise classes all have a Campus Rec twist of fun. Our Group X instructors are full of energy and always friendly. Our Classes are open to all students of any fitness level and it is never too late in the semester to join. Come try one of our classes and you will see why our classes are so popular. Group X Classes are FREE for students. (Excluding Tai Chi - This class is offered for a small fee of $20 for 10 weeks.)

Cardio Classes:

Class Descriptions

Kickboxing Challenge your aerobic conditioning with this high-energy class! This class will incorporate moves both on the bag and off. Kickboxing is a great stress reliever and a complete body workout. Total Body Blast It incorporates cardio, toning exercises, and even dance combinations. You’ll never know what to expect during this hour of upbeat movements and various aspects of exercise.. Step and Sculpt This class is a high-energy, lower-body intensive course that will make you sweat! Steps are used to intensify the workout in addition to toning segments. Feel the rhythm and feel the burn-This class is a great way to sculpt and tone those muscles! Cardio Dance Mix Cardio and dance mix in one fun and motavating class! It is a mixed level class. Dance and get a full workout! Hip Hop In this class, you’ll be sure to get a good cardio work through choreography. The class is designed for all levels . Dance, Dance! A high energy class that starts with an upbeat warm-up and thorough stretch then ends with an exciting dance combination. No experience necessary, just energy and enthusiasm! Punk Rope A high-energy cardio class where participants use jump ropes for portions of the class. Toling excersizes are also incorpprated to obtain a full body workout!

Pilates Stretch, tone, and strengthen to the CORE. Focusing on abdominals, get a full body workout that rejuvenates the mind as well as the body. Try this calm class with a total body workout, to reviece maximum effect Yoga This 60-minute Hatha (physical) yoga class integrates breathing, stretching, strength-building, and relaxation to create a complete workout. The class is mixed-level. Yoga is not only a workout, but a total body experience! Yogalates Yoga AND Pilates-the best of both worlds! This infusion of Pilates and Yoga is sure to leave you at peace with all the strength and flexibility that can be gained in each class. Super Stretch/Awsome Abs Stretch and tone your abdominals-all in the same class! Brazlian Jiu Jitsu This is a ground fighting martial arts that teaches self defense with an emphasis on grappling. Hapkido This is a Korean martial art. It is a form of self-defense that employs joint locks, pressure points, throws, kicks, and other strikes. You will learn physical fitness tools and life skills, as well as the philosophical side.

New Format Classes:

Amp’d Abs This class focuses on your upper and lower abs, as well as your obliques. Every minute is filled with abdominal fun to get your core toned the way you want it! Sports Conditioning Your agility, strength, cardiovascular fitness and core stabilization will be challenged by our motivating leaders. Mixed Martial Arts Mixed Martial Arts is a combination of standing martial arts, ground fighting martial arts, and joint locking martial arts. You will learn to defend yourself in ALL aspects of combat. You will learn physical fitness tools and life skills, as well as the philosophical side of Martial Arts.
