Your own fitness journey can take different forms. This can be weightlifting, marathon training, walking, and various other forms of exercise. Campus Recreation strives to have countless opportunities for everyone to begin or expand in their fitness journey. Campus Rec provides a variety of equipment and classes to our student population. Explore the different realms of fitness so you can discover a lasting source of positive energy to take you through 2022. Everyone has a different preference when it comes to fitness, but to supplement your goals Group X is a great option. Whether your goal is to improve endurance, mobility, strength, flexibility, core strength or coordination; Group X has a class for you to enjoy. If you are looking to build endurance and stamina, Zumba or Cycling is the class for you. Cycling is a highly effective way to build cardiovascular strength and endurance. This class is designed for all fitness levels, and offers a challenging 45 minute ride with fun and energizing music. Cycling focuses on endurace, strength, intervals, high intensity moments, and recovery. The great thing about this class is that you do not need cycling shoes, just your own sneakers! Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training to help improve cardiovascular endurance. This class will incorporate all of your muscle groups at once, encouraging total body toning, and you have fun while you do it! All you need for this class is good energy and a good pair of sneakers! If you are looking to build strength through bodyweight activity, TRX and Kickboxing are for you. TRX is a form of suspension training that uses body weight exercises to develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability simultaneously. Classes utilize the TRX Suspension Trainer that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to complete the exercises. All you need to bring is yourself to this class, and maybe a bottle of water!
Kickboxing is a group fitness class that combines martial arts techniques with fast-paced cardio. This high energy workout challenges the beginner and elite athlete alike. This is a stamina building class that assists in building coordination, flexibility and burning calories as you build lean muscle. This is a full body workout that is for all
levels of experience, and will leave you with your endorphins boosted and an energy boost too. For everyone looking to improve muscle tone and mobility, Group X offers a variety of pilates and yoga classes for your enjoyment. Pilates classes focus on strength, stability, posture, proper breach control and flexibility. Each class works to balance all muscle groups’ strength and flexibility with an emphasis on challenging the core muscles with each movement. Classes are taught with open, friendly and encouraging space to allow you to try something new during the classes. This class is taught on the mat and all of the supplies are provided for you. All Levels Yoga allows you to stimulate the mind and body connection through breathing technique, physical movement, mediation and relaxation. This Vinyasa style class will allow students to move through a variety of seated and standing poses, connecting with their breath. This will allow students to improve in flexibility, strength, and mindfulness. This class is open for all levels of experience. Lastly we have Advanced Yoga. Do not let the title of this class intimidate you. Advanced yoga allows students to take their practice to the next level through a series of stepping stone progressions and the practice of difficult poses in a safe and encouraging environment, all while building strength and mobility. Overall, Group X strives to be an open and welcoming experience for all students and members of The SRC.
