So...the month of June sees the Man of Steel flying his way back in to the silver screen, with a new bodysuit sans his trademark red underwear. Of course, it’s a monumental task playing Superman, and so the question remains – will Henry Cavill be able to shoulder the responsibility in a role that Christopher Reeves has perfected? Yes, we’re going way back to Christopher Reeves, because all other Superman reincarnations have been utterly disappointing and forgettable. In any case, the jury is out on this until we’ve seen Cavill’s interpretation in our screening of Man of Steel on June 17. Not sure about you, but I’m pretty excited about it. Find out how you can score some free tickets on page 28, or you can log on to our Facebook page at facebook.com/campusplus. In the meantime, go check out our cover story (page 28) for this month as we dish out all things Superman from the very beginning.

This month, we’re also featuring YouTube singer-songwriter sensation, David Choi, who confesses his ultimate dream (amongst a host of other things) in Discovering David, page 36. With three albums under his belt, as well as over 930,000 subscribers and 83 million video views on his YouTube channel, to say that this young musical talent is going places is an understatement and we will definitely be seeing more of him.

Okay, quick question – how many of you would love to spend a day unwinding at a spa? Sounds blissful, doesn’t it? At one with body, mind and soul. But let’s face it, while we’d love to do that, shelling out the money for the experience is another question. Don’t worry though. In our beauty feature (page 23) this month, we’ll show you how you can re-create that spa experience in the comfort of your own home, with products that you most probably already have. Pop in that Café del Mar CD and you’re ready to start your Zen experience. Now, can you say ‘Ohmmmmm’?

Meet Eunice Peigh, a bubbly 21 year old cake and cupcake artist, who speaks to us about her love affair with baking and healthy living. This interview is conducted in celebration of Jacob’s 60 years of inspiring nutritional choices and health heritage since its birth in 1953. Tell us a little bit of yourself. Hi! My name is Eunice. I’m a girl full of dreams and ideas who has had to learn to discipline her dreams in order to make them come true! I love my family, books, travelling, kids, looking at hand-drawn illustrations, creating art (colour coordinated wedding dessert tables), music and pretending to be a hipster. Just teasing! Lately, I enjoy learning from my dad what it means to be an entrepreneur. How did your love affair with baking began? When I was 9 or 10 years old, our helper left to go back to Indonesia and we kids were made the king and queens of the toilets, garden, floors and the kitchen! I remember helping my grandma more in the kitchen, although, not as much as I probably should have. Cooking led to baking, and after finishing schoolwork, I’d pour over old Be-Ro Flour books my mum had brought home from England. Together with my grandma, we’d make Melting Moments in the afternoon after she was done watching her Chinese TV shows. Shortly after, some friends gave me 2 little modern baking books for my birthday. I was enthralled by the pictures and kept on baking!
What made you take up baking professionally? It’s a funny story. I accidentally stumbled into baking professionally by advertising my cupcakes online and accidentally getting a HEAP of orders. I kept posting up the pictures on my personal blog, and soon it turned into a baking blog. Photography has definitely been a big part of the reason why I bake. I love food photography! My dream is to takeover a sushi place and roll cupcakes out on a conveyor belt or be a one-stop dessert and catering centre! With such a busy lifestyle, how do you find time to relax or indulge in healthy activities? My brother is a fitness trainer and he always encourages us to exercise first thing in the morning whether it’s a run outside or using the equipment we have at home. I really enjoy playing group sports like captain ball, but profess to have no talent in it. 3 years into working, I have found that no matter how important your work is, nothing is as important as your health & discipline. It’s important to make time for healthy activities - pencil it into your schedule for the rest of your life. The importance of healthy living is something that the general Malaysian population now stresses on. How do you inculcate that into your baking, taking into note that cakes are usually sweet? I’ve noticed the trend in America that healthy or raw desserts are pretty hot! I enjoy nutrition and health, but haven’t had time to focus on it! Perhaps I’ll be able to sell raw desserts some time! As for being healthy in Malaysia, try to leave the sweets for special occasions, not daily! Everything in moderation is fine, but you need to value your health over what you want to eat. Can you share some simple recipes in which one of the main ingredients is Jacob’s crackers? Yes! I have a cheesecake recipe that you can use Jacob’s crackers for the base.

How to have a spa experience at home By Jocelyn Loke
A spa experience is always a good way to rejuvenate yourself after a long week. Feel your stress and worries melt away while your body experiences that ‘Ahhhhh....’ moment. Blissful, isn’t it? A trip to the spa is one of the best things to splurge on, but you can just as easily re-create it at home. All it takes is a little planning.
Set the mood
First, find a spot at home that you’re most comfortable with. Keep it clean and clear of clutter, and turn the lights down low or, better still, turn the lights off and place some scented candles dotted around your ‘spa’ area. Put some essential oil in your aromatherapy burner to create a beautiful scent in the room. If you don’t have a burner, place a few drops of the oil on a cotton ball and place it on a small plate. If you’re not sure what essential oil to use, try lavender as it’s relaxing, readily available and amenable to most skin types. Re-create the same atmosphere in your bathroom as well, as part of the spa experience. Now, complete the ambiance with some relaxing and soothing music. Most importantly, remember to keep your mobile phone switched off.
Pampering from top to toe
First, give your tresses some tender loving care by applying a nourishing hair mask. Then, pull hair back away from face and put on a shower cap. Next, give yourself a facial steam. All you need is a handful of fresh rose petals, a big bowl of hot water
and a towel. Heat up water until almost boiling, place rose petals in a big bowl and pour hot water over it. Drape the towel over your head and let it fall to either side of the bowl to create a steam vent as you lean your face down towards the water. Do not place your face too close to the water. Close your eyes and inhale deeply for about 5 minutes or until the steam is completely gone. Gently pat your face dry and wrap the towel around your head as the heat helps to seal in the hair mask. Then, apply a face mask and place chilled cucumber slices on your eyelids. Lie back, take in deep breaths and relax, it’s time to clear your mind of unwanted thoughts. After half an hour or so, remove face mask and cucumber slices, and head on to the bathroom to baby your body. Run a bath of lukewarm water in the tub and put a few drops of almond oil. You can also scatter some of those rose petals in the water. Lower yourself into the water and let your mind wander away while you soak. Give yourself a scrub to rid your body of dead skin cells and stimulate blood circulation. Apply body scrub from your neck down to your feet in circular motion. Rinse off in a shower and remember to wash your hair. Pat yourself dry and apply your favourite body lotion.
Ohmmm....
Wear comfortable clothing and pad back to your ‘spa’ area to lounge around and relax. Make yourself a cup of green tea as it helps to flush away toxins in your body. If you have a massage chair at home, it’s time to utilise that. If you don’t, well, just sit back and relax. Happy spa-ing!

Guys, say goodbye to bad hair days. We speak to the team at ELITE about their latest range, ELITE Edgy EFX, and how to make the most of your hair products for the best hairstyle. What is so special about ELITE Edgy EFX Fibre / Clay / Mud / Wax range? The ELITE Edgy EFX range is special as it is designed with EASY RINSE FORMULA that allows the product to be washed off from the hair easily as compared with other fibre, clay, mud, wax hair styling products in the market.
Easy to Style. Easy to Rinse.
Besides providing excellent holding power for the hair and easy to restyle, the products in the range are also formulated with a pleasant fragrance (non-chemical smell) to provide users an enjoyable and delightful styling experience. Why does my hairstyle sometimes drop after only a short period of time? This depends on two factors – the product spread and the weather. Thin and even spreading of the product on your hair will reduce the weight pressure on the hair strands and leads to a longer holding effect. The weather condition (humidity level) also comes into play – warm, moist air causes human hair to be frizzy and weighed down, hence your hairstyle dropping. Even if your hairstyle has dropped, it can easily be fixed with the restyling capabilities that the product offers. So look for hair styling products that are easy to restyle.
AIRY WILD
SPIKY WEB
If I would like to change my hair style within the same day, do I need to wash my hair and re-apply the hair styling product? No, it’s not necessary with the ELITE Edgy EFX range of products, which offers users restyling capabilities and eliminates the need to wash and re-apply hair product.
WAVY LOOSE
SHIY WET
RUGGED MAT TE
Can I use multiple hairstyling products in a single session? Yes, it is common even for hairstylists to use a combination of products to achieve the desired results. Man Of Steel
Unlike a sequel or a prequel, The Man Of Steel is an origin film. This reintroduction is alike The Dark Knight franchise; being darker and more serious in tone. Throw the yellow and red logo away, remove that outside underwear, and prepare for a deeper show of character development and plot. The Man of Steel takes on the reality of superhero business, and tones down on the comical aspect of this well-known character.
For screen time alone, Superman has been evergreen since 1941, years before your parents were even born! Superman has also made its way into the video game industry in 1998, and is one of the popular character choices for many players.
Director Zack Snyder said that The Man of Steel will go with the approach of having no other Superman films before it. Hence, it will definitely redefine who Clark Kent is from his humble beginnings. So fans, be prepared for a never-before-experienced epic adventure!

SAVE ROCK AND ROLL
R.E.V.O
Fall Out Boy
Walk Off The Earth
If anything, Save Rock and Roll have proven that Fall Out Boy’s 4-year hiatus only served to make the boys grow stronger musically. The boys have roped in some of their musical peers to collaborate with on their tracks, most notably Elton John for the title track Save Rock and Roll and Courtney Love for Rat a Tat, where she parodies a certain troubled singer when she goes ‘This is Courtney b*tch’. Although the album starts off rather dramatically with The Phoenix, it is only the following tracks Alone Together, Where Did The Party Go, Just One Yesterday, Death Valley and Young Volcanoes, that made me really enjoy this album a lot more. Check out their new tunes at itunes.apple.com/us/album/save-rock-and-roll/id624200155 and youtube.com/FallOutBoyVEVO. Save Rock And Roll is now available at all record stores.
MAGNETIC
Goo Goo Dolls
Never thought I’d hear the Goo Goo Dolls sounding so...cheerful and upbeat in one whole entire album, but I guess age has somewhat mellowed their tortured souls. That’s not entirely a bad thing, I found myself bobbing along to the uppity beat of their tracks, starting with the first song Rebel Beat. Even the song with the torturedsounding title, When the World Breaks Your Heart, is not one of those woe-is-me songs, but instead is more of a positive you-can-get-over-this track. Other notable songs include Come To Me, which sounds a little folksy, and Keep the Car Running.
You’d probably know Walk Off The Earth as the five-piece band who huddled around a single guitar, each creating their own riffs and strings on their version of Gotye’s Somebody I Used To Know. Far from being a YouTube onetrick-pony, the album R.E.V.O, which stands for the band’s motto ‘Realise Every Victory Outright’, is actually the band’s 3rd studio album (first on a major record label). Although very much indie-folk, the album is also somewhat eclectic as melodies of different genres are quite distinct in its songs – pop in title track R.E.V.O, country in Speeches, reggae rock in Sometimes. The ones that stand out for me in this album are Shake, Money Tree and No Ulterior Motives. And if you’re wondering, yes, Somebody I Used To Know is also included in the album.
VOLUME 3
MOSQUITO
She & Him
Yeah Yeah Yeahs In their fourth studio album, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back with slightly less screeching (good screeching, mind you) sounds and more trippy tracks that make you wonder if there’s something different in the water they’ve been drinking. In any case, lead Karen O always remind me of Cherie Currie (lead for The Runaways, of which Joan Jett was also a member before heading solo), and this is especially evident in Mosquito and Area 52. First track Sacrilege makes a strong intro as it hits its crescendo in full gospel choir backing, but it descends in the next track, subdued Subway, and it goes on like this – up, down, up, down. A bit confusing, but nevertheless still a good album to listen to.
She may be the New Girl on TV, but Zooey Deschanel (the ‘she’ of She & Him) is definitely seasoned when it comes to singing. She brings back her brand of coquettish indie-swing in this third album, which features 11 original songs and 3 covers, one of which is a pretty not bad version of Blondie’s Sunday Girl (but of course, no one can match Debbie Harry’s spunk). Other gems include I Could’ve Been Your Girl, I’ve Got Your Number, Son, Turn to White, Snow Queen and Hold, Thrill Me, Kiss Me.

This Cantonese horror film tells the story of a couple and their newborn son sharing their new home with a long haired doll that might get your hair rising. Want some Asian chills? Mark your calendars.
We have seen Mike and Sulley as an inseparable pair in Monster Inc., but that wasn’t always the case. When these two mismatched monsters met, they actually couldn’t stand each other and this animation unlocks the door to how they overcame their differences and became the best of friends. Have you ever met someone who is the total opposite of you? That was how FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn and Boston cop Shannon Mullins saw each other. A PINK′S HONG YOO KYUNG LEAVES HER TEAM
LUNAFLY RELEASES ENGLISH VERSION OF ‘FLY TO LOVE’ MV
It’s sad news for fans of A Pink!
Trio LUNAFLY has released a video of the full English version of the single ‘Fly to Love’ from their album of the same title. The music video, though sung in English, is somewhat similar to the trio’s previously made Korean video.
The doe-eyed soft-faced Hoo Yoo Kyung has decided to part ways with the girl band citing her intention to focus on her studies. The singer had entered college earlier this year. The news of her departure was released through the group’s managing label, A Cube Entertainment, who explained that the decision was made by Hong Yoo Kyung and the company after much deliberation and thought, in consideration of Hong Yoo Kyung and A Pink’s future. Despite her departure, A Pink will be carrying on as a six-piece band as they search for a new talent to fill the empty spot.
PSY’S GENTLEMAN REACHES 200 MILLION VIEWS IN 9 DAYS, BREAKING YOUTUBE RECORD
LUNAFLY recently made a comeback with their first full-length album ‘Fly to Love’. The album contains a total of 20 tracks with various songs such ‘Fly to Love’ and ‘One More Step’. The band also included a second CD in the album, containing English versions of the songs as a show of their appreciation to fans.
SUPER JUNIOR DAZZLES FANS IN BRAZIL CONCERT Super Junior recently had their very first concert in Brazil. The concert also marks the first performance for the band in the continent. The concert drew over 8,000 ardent Brazilian fans and was seen as a huge success for the band. Aside from the concert, the band was also treated to a spirited welcome as fans thronged the airport in anticipation of their arrival causing local event organisers to have more security personnel prepared. The boy band also played a few more countries as part of their South American tour.
It looks like PSY’s latest single, Gentleman, is dancing up the YouTube charts Gangnam Style as it raked in a whopping 200 million views only 9 days after it was released. The song, which was released in April, surpassed the 200 million mark a few days later, even beating out the Gangnam Style record which saw the single taking 64 days to reach the same mark. This record comes of the heel of the same song reaching 38 million views in its first day of release, also considered a YouTube record. The video features the singer performing various pranks on people, and features members of Infinity Challenge and Ga In from Brown Eyed Girls. 34

TOP 10 K-Pop Music Charts The Third Album Part 2 - Love Blossom K.Will
Kim Hyung-Soo, better known as K.Will, released the second part of this third album, titled exactly the same way. Containing only seven songs, the ballad singer does what he does best - maximise on his love songs capability. Love Blossoms sound like a tune that was made for the radio, while Marry Me is an uplifting song with a dance beat. Two other gems in this album is Bon Voyage (feat. Beenzino) that has a Jackson 5 feel to it, while Lay Back is a good song with an upbeat tune yet easy to listen.
Fly to Love Lunafly
Lunafly is back after a hiatus with their first full-length album of 20 tracks. The songs stay true to the Korean flavour of ballads though there are some that stand out as gems despite the mould. One More Step is one of the best in this album as it showcases the excellent harmony between the vocal and music making this song sound as if it were an English song sung in Korean.
WHAT’S YOUR NAME? 4Minute HELLO
In Love Electroboyz
Rappers Electroboyz’ mark themselves well outside the current craze of pop ballad albums hitting the market. The album starts well enough with Ma Boy 3 and gets better with Ride With Me as the song sounds like a hit ready to happen. But from there, it goes downhill as the boys start their ballad-inspired R&B tunes. A good effort, one that shows a lot of promise of better albums to come.
Mega Yak Delight
This mini album released by the pop-dance girls says one thing right off the bat – these girls are confident, brash and happy to show it in their songs. The first single Delight Time has a very nice dance groove and beat to it, that on its own is likely to be played in clubs as a cult following. The album single Mega Yak is unique as it’s perhaps best suited for the Korean dance taste and less for the Malaysian ears.

This third mini album release from the boyband stands out as a refreshing sound in what is otherwise a mould-driven music industry. The intro has a very 80’s feel to it with a 2013 twist that makes for an excellent start to this album. From there, the other four songs only get better especially with Go Away’s nice beat that is just bound to get your head moving. Final track So Pretty sounds like it might just be used as the intro tune to a drama some time. Good album overall.
HEART BREAKABLE LYn 2011 Girls Generation Tour Girls Generation
Who doesn’t know Girls Generation? The 9 piece girlband is almost a force unto themselves. If not album, then the speed in which their tours sell out is a definite tell all, of which this album is about. Containing 5 songs live from their 2011 tour, this is a definite must have for any Girls Generation fan even before listening. Fans will be happy to know the handpicked songs are fan favourites, including Girl’s Carnival, Into the New World, and It’s Fantastic.

Naturally, we fully used the opportunity to ask questions that his fans are burning to have answered. Read on to douse those flames! When did you start singing? I don’t remember when I started singing, but I remember always singing in the shower and the car as a kid - just like everyone else! Who or what inspired you to become a singer? No one really inspired me to become a singer. It just kind of happened. I enjoyed song writing and producing, but I couldn’t afford a demo singer so I just sang for all of my own recordings. It wasn’t until I started YouTube that I started posting videos of my singing.

What is your ultimate dream? To somehow change the world, whether through music or something else. Do you have a singer or musician you admire? Too many to list, but I love Babyface, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Corinne Bailey Rae, India Arie and a whole lot more! What is your process of writing and composing a song? I write when I’m inspired. Most of the time, I like to let the lyrics lead the melody. But when I’m ‘crafting’ a song for a project, I’ll usually lead by melody. Among your songs, do you have a favourite and why? Nope, they’re all pretty close to me, like kids. Besides music, is there something else you would like to do? Own a restaurant. What do you think of boy-girl relationships? Are you single yourself? I think relationships are great when they’re two great people. I’m single.
Any new albums being released this year? Working on it, but none this year. Are you planning to go on an Asian tour? Have you been to Malaysia? I was just there! I will be in Korea and Japan in May, but those would be the only times I tour in Asia this year. Breakfast Is Important Too! By Jocelyn Loke How many times have you heard your mother telling you to hurry up and eat your breakfast before you step out of the house? And roll your eyes when that begins to sound like a morning nag session? It turns out your mother was right to nag you because breakfast is really the most important meal of the day. With the Milo Breakfast Movement campaign running on full steam, I took the opportunity to speak to Nurul Iliana Ahmad, a nutritionist with Nestle Malaysia, on the importance of breakfast, as well as to a few university students on their breakfast habits. So, why is breakfast important?
Iliana explains, “When you sleep, your body fasts for 6 to 7 hours and your internal body functions still run, using up energy. So, breakfast serves to re-charge your body with energy and important nutrients. When you think about it, breakfast is literally ‘breaking fast’.” Fair point, but of course, that’s easier said than done. Lifestyle may sometimes curb the breakfast habit. Some would rather a 15-minute snooze, while some find that eating breakfast curb their lunchtime appetite, hence the skipping of breakfast. According to Iliana, lifestyle changes may come into play but still, one should try not to skip breakfast as it affects one’s metabolism rate. “Also, if you don’t eat breakfast, you will tend to overeat at your next meal. It’s really psychology - you think you’re able to eat more or whatever you want to because you skipped breakfast and therefore, feel justified at indulging.” Not only that, skipping breakfast in the long run will also give one a higher chance of malnutrition. When energy is not replenished, your body will have a deficiency of certain nutrients and will face all kinds of impact. For those who skip breakfast to regulate meal times, Iliana advises them to start with something small, “When you start small, keep in mind also that it should also be a balanced breakfast, for example a sandwich and drink, so as to keep you feeling full just till lunch time.” What about those constantly on the go or those who would rather sleep in? “Well, if you don’t have time to prepare breakfast in the morning, do it the night before. Or you can also try biscuits and crackers, especially now that it comes in single packs,” said Iliana.

Turning my attention to the three students, Dayang Sofia Bt. Shaipuddin Shah, Dalton Kay and Felina Kang from Taylor’s University, I asked if they practice the habit of eating breakfast every morning. While Felina does, Sofia and Dalton admitted that although their families eat breakfast together daily, living away from home has definitely not help with the practice as they now only eat breakfast when time permits. “Although, I have to say I’m able to focus more in class when I do eat breakfast,” commented Dalton, to which Sofia chipped in, “Yes, because you don’t get hunger pangs!” Iliana said the sentiments of the three students concur with the general Malaysian population who do know the importance of breakfast, but knowing and putting it into practice are two different matters. Hence, Milo is trying to educate the public on how to gradually inculcate the habit into one’s lifestyle. The Milo Breakfast Movement campaign calls upon all Malaysians to join in a mass pledge of adopting the breakfast habit for a healthier and balanced lifestyle. It has been reaching out to the public via concourse events as well as online, with digital pledges ultimately converted into breakfast packs.
