EVER BEEN TO KURE HARBOR? KURE RECREATION CENTER

During WWII, the Kure Naval District was Japan’s single largest naval base and arsenal, housing most of the city’s industry and workforce employed in the service of naval installations, munitions factories and other support functions. It is this strategic significance that drew a heavy and sustained Allied bombardment culminating in the Bombing of Kure in June and July 1945. Today, Kure continues to be a major maritime center hosting the dockyards of numerous shore based facilities of the JMSDF, gaining fame as a tourism enter featuring artifacts and mementos from the JMSDF museum of naval history. Come and visit Kure Recreation Center and immerse yourself in the beauty and history of Kure Harbor. Our facilities offer dining & bar services, a package store, gym, commissary, clean and convenient lodging at affordable rates.

Busy? Not an Excuse Healthy tips to help with your busy life Having a busy life style should never be in the way of having a healthy life style. You can never have too many tips and tricks to navigate your busy life. Heavy work loads can lead to stress, impact your eating habits and lead to bad choices. Here are some tips that’ll give you more balance in your busy life.

• Start Your Day with some H2O~ Start your morning off right with a big glass of water. This first drink of water will help to hydrate your cells and wake you up. • Meal Prep! ~ Making your meals ahead of time will end up saving you plenty of time and stress in the long run! Getting yourself some cool meal prep containers will also be a game-changer for this meal prep. You can find plenty of great recipes for meal prepping online, that freeze and reheat really well. • Keep Your Immunity Strong ~ It’s very important to keep your immunity strong by getting your daily source of nutrition and vitamins. Don’t forget to keep up on your health regimen! • Get some Sleep ~ Sleep is an important part of your health and if you don’t get enough of it, it can negatively impact your energy levels, motivation, concentration and even appetite. Make sure you prioritize your sleep and keep a consistent bedtime routine with your busy lifestyle to maintain good health and reach your goals. • Exercise & Socialize~ Exercise can help you feel energized and improve your sleep and overall well being. Instead of doing a form of exercise you don’t enjoy, try out new activities like yoga, hiking, pilates, biking or swimming. Hopefully this will help you make exercise a sustainable habit, and you’ll also gain more physical, mental & emotional benefits from something you enjoy.

Auto Skills Center Camp Zama • Bldg. 360-A DSN: 263-3615 Commercial: 046-407-3615

Hours of Operation

Safety Orientation

Mon & Tue Wed-Fri Sat & Sun Holidays

Closed 12 - 6 p.m. 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Closed

DA 3031-1 Qualifications Card for use of the Auto Skills Center is issued after a safety orientation given every day, 15 minutes after opening and whenever time is available. This briefing is required before facility use.

Junking Vehicle Service Our process consists of picking up the vehicle if it cannot be driven, bringing the vehicle to the junk yard, returning the license plates, base decal and any funds from the junk yard. Unfortunately, we cannot go to the LTO for you, sorry.

Classes

• How to do a Basic Tune Up on Your Car April 15 • 4:30 p.m. • How to Change Your Automatic Transmission Oil April 22 • 4:30 p.m.

Services

• Wash-N-Wax Service Our Wash-N-Wax service consists of a basic wash & wax of the outside only, with tire waxing included. There is a additional cost for cleaning the interior. For more information and fees, please stop by or give us a call.

• Towing Services We offer a towing service and roadside asistance Wednesday through Sunday during operational hours of the Auto Skills Center. For more information and rates, please give us a call.

• Here’s a Tip

Tire machine & wheel balancer We have a Wheel Balancer with laser guided weight placement that can handle 10-30 inch diameter wheels, and a new and quieter operating Tire Machine with 24 inch diameter wheel capabilities.

Did you know you can use baby “wipes” to clean the interior of your vehicle? Of course one company may work better than another but either way this would still be cheaper than buying the “big name” companies that say theirs are the best for interiors. NOTE: For leather interiors/seats you may want to try on a small area in an inconspicuous spot to make it does not damage the leather.

Pre-Paid car wash cards For your convenience, we now have pre-paid car wash cards. Give us a call for costs and more information.

SCHOOL AGE CARE

2

We have recently launched a “Growth Mindset” initiative in our program and in doing so, we have partnered with Zama PX who will be displaying SAC “Vision Boards 2021.” Each child will be creating goals for themselves by creating posters. Zama PX has offered to award one youth a $25.00 Gift Card who has the most creative poster. For more info, call 263-6013.

New Beginning of a Great Concept

This is just the beginning of our 12 month initiative. Each month, we will focus on different aspects that encompass each developmental domains that include social, emotional, physical and mental health with the children who attend SAC. Our goal is to remind the children and our community that despite the challenges we have all faced, when you have the right mindset, you can create something positive out of a negative. 64
