Boys & Girls Clubs of America Camp Zama Communities
The Boys’ and Girls’ Club of America (BGCA) Day for Kids was created to help foster relationships between children and adults, a day dedicated to honoring children through the gift of meaningful time. On September 16, the Camp Zama Child and Youth Services (CYS), in partnership with USAG Japan, Family & MWR and other supporting organizations, is presenting a fun community event; a special day spent on children’s activities, celebrating the wonderment of childhood. Our goal mirror’s those of the BGCA: “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” Come join Child and Youth Services this September 16, take a break from your busy schedule and celebrate the wonder of life and fulfillment by spending time together with your Family. We hope to see you there--don’t forget the kids!

September Tour Highlights Get out & see Japan!
Nikko Edo Mura Nikko Edo Mura is a large-scale sightseeing facility. The traditional culture and customs of the Edo Period, which may be considered as the root of modern Japan, have been accurately reproduced. Visit the haunted temple, the Ninja Black Mansion, a Japanese teahouse, a tricky ninja maze or see the “Oiran” (High Class Geisha) Parade and much, much more.
Snorkeling at Hirizohama We’ll take a 5 minute boat ride to an unexplored region of Izu Peninsula, Hirizohama. Due to its geographic environment, ocean transparency in this area is 7 meters, the best place for snorkeling! The Kiuroshio Current (Japan Black Tide) is running through this area so the water temperature is pretty warm, enabling you to see a variety of tropical migratory fish and coral.
Kaisei Town Serene Walking Let’s walk through Kaisei town, which is the smallest town in Kanagawa Prefecture. We will start walking from Kaisei station, along the Sakawa River, through a residential and rural area, then arrive at Seto-yashiki housing. We will visit the ancient Japanese mansion, then head to Suifuyo (Cotton Rosemallow) path. Enjoy 700 flowers and festival attractions, then head to the next destination to admire more autumn flowers.
Lake Kawaguchi Ropeway, Iyashi no Sato Park & BBQ Lunch We will first take you to the Lake Kawaguchi area to enjoy the scenery of the lake (if weather permits). Afterwards, we will head to Iyashi no Sato, a traditional Japanese village. The village is like an open-air museum. It displays several thatched-roofed houses where people can witness, experience, and purchase diffferent local handcrafts as well as learning about traditional Japanese culture. Lastly, we will stop at the Fujisan Winery for a BBQ lunch.

EVER BEEN TO KURE HARBOR? Camp Kure (Akizuki) Recreation/Lodging
During WWII, the Kure Naval District was Japan’s single largest naval base and arsenal, housing most of the city’s industry and workforce employed in the service of naval installations, munitions factories and other support functions. It is this strategic significance that drew a heavy and sustained Allied bombardment culminating in the Bombing of Kure in June and July 1945. Today, Kure continues to be a major maritime center hosting the dockyards of numerous shore based facilities of the JMSDF, gaining fame as a tourism center featuring artifacts and mementos from the JMSDF museum of naval history. Come and visit Camp Kure and immerse yourself in the beauty and history of Kure Harbor. Our facilities offer dining & bar services, a package store, gym, commissary, clean and convenient lodging at affordable rates. September 1941
