The Child & Youth Services, Christmas around the World Celebration started as a small potluck in 1998 as a way for parents in our programs to share some of the many different cultures that celebrate the Holiday Season. Since then, the event has grown into a community-wide celebration complete with musical performances, skits, food sampling from various countries, carnival rides, ice skating, a visit from Santa himself, and so much more! Join us on Friday, December 8, 2017 as we celebrate the 11th Annual Christmas around the World Celebration, immediately followed by the Zama High School Zama Middle School Holiday Concert, and the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony. We hope to see you there!

Don’t miss out on the following winter celebrations! CAMP ZAMA & SHA TREE-LIGHTING CEREMONIES Wednesday, December 6 • 6 p.m. at SHA / Friday, December 8 • 5 p.m. at Camp Zama Join us as we welcome the holidays with a magical tree-lighting ceremony at Zama and SHA!

CAMP ZAMA GOLF CLUB Camp Zama • Bldg. 809 DSN: 263-5284 Commercial: 046-407-5284

Tip of the Month Power Coil With the temperatures dropping, the pre-game warm-up becomes even more important. I see a lot of golfers put the club behind their back and twist back and forth, this is a great way to warm up, but it is important not to sway the upper body like a tree top on a windy day. To do this exercise correctly, stand up straight, lean to one side and stretch the oblique, then twist the torso and now you should feel a coil, see images. You can do this on the follow through too. This great exercise can really help you understand both the coiling action in the backswing and follow through, it especially teaches how to maintain your spine angle during the swing, as opposed to standing up or coming out of it, which can produce all sorts of misery.

Happy Holidays from the Staff of the CZGC!

December Tour Highlights Get out & see Japan!

Yoro Valley Hiking

Yoro Valley, located at the center of Chiba prefecture, is well known as one of the best Koyo spots in Boso peninsula. The area spreads 246 square kilometers along 70 kilometers and contains streams, waterfalls, mountains, historical remains and hot springs. We will visit the valley with a 4-hour hike. Admire the brilliant contrast of Koyo (leaves turn into autumn color) and clear blue sky, and also a red carpet formed by fallen maple leaves. After the hike, we will head for lunch and free time. You will be able to taste their local food, soak at the black hot spring, and stroll around the area to see a gorgeous waterfall and more.

Kanazawa Sightseeing

Ishikawa Prefecture, located on a peninsula in the center of the west coast of Japan, has a rich history and beautiful scenery. The most well-known city is Kanazawa, its capital, which boasts Japan’s best preserved samurai districts as well as Kenrokuen Garden, one of the three most beautiful landscape gardens in Japan. Kanazawa, often called “little Kyoto,” because it is a cultural city that escaped bombing in World War II, where Edo-era buildings are still surviving. On this trip, you will visit Kenrokuen garden, Kanazawa Castle ruin, and Higashi Chaya district.

Kamakura Tei-en Hiking & Tabearuki

The hike begins from Kamakura’s top Zen temple, Kenchoji. We will walk through the huge precinct yard and go up the 200 stone steps guarded by crow-billed Tangu goblins till the entrance of Tenen hiking trail. 30 minutes from the entrance will be to Ohiradai, the highest altitude point in Kamakura City. Keep walking another 30 minutes to Tenen area which is famous for its tea house for hikers. Take a break there and sample their Japanese snacks/sweets and start walking towards central Kamakura via Shishimai ravine. The roads between the Shishimai ravine and central Kamakura are hidden gourmet spots. They have gelato, bread, sausages, etc....you’ll find something to satisfy your craving!

Junking Vehicle Service Our process consists of picking up the vehicle if it cannot be driven, and bringing the vehicle to the junk yard. We then return the license plates, base decal paperwork and guarantee you’ll receive all Yen from the junk yard handed to the Auto Skills Center employee. Unfortunately we do not go to LTO for you, sorry. *Please Note: The Yen received from the junkyard is determined by the cost of steel at that time, therefore we cannot advertise a figure.

• Harley Davidson Retail We have a vast list of engine and transmission gaskets for various models of Harley Davidson motorcycles, just stop by and take a look. Sorry, but all we have is what is on the list and we cannot order any more for the future.

Tip of the month Did you ever have to put air in your tires off base and you realized it’s in metric? Here is a good rule of thumb the average air pressure in most passenger vehicle tires is 32 PSI or Pounds per Square Inch. This equals to about 2.2 KPA or Kilo Pascal.

This inspection is to help assess the condition of the vehicle before buying or selling.
