EVER BEEN TO KURE HARBOR? KURE RECREATION CENTER
During WWII, the Kure Naval District was Japan’s single largest naval base and arsenal, housing most of the city’s industry and workforce employed in the service of naval installations, munitions factories and other support functions. It is this strategic significance that drew a heavy and sustained Allied bombardment culminating in the Bombing of Kure in June and July 1945. Today, Kure continues to be a major maritime center hosting the dockyards of numerous shore based facilities of the JMSDF, gaining fame as a tourism center featuring artifacts and mementos from the JMSDF museum of naval history. Come and visit Kure Recreation Center and immerse yourself in the beauty and history of Kure Harbor. Our facilities offer dining & bar services, a package store, gym, commissary, clean and convenient lodging at affordable rates.

Home Fitness • Tips to Stayin’ in Shape Recreation
Lack of equipment and opportunity shouldn’t derail your commitment to your health and emotional well-being. Here are some tips on staying fit during these stay-at-home times: • Learn Bodyweight Exercises ~ Mobility, stability and muscular endurance activities are the foundation AVAILABLE! of any sound program. Bodyweight exercises like planks, body squats, bridges and even yoga movements are ideal to establish and maintain a strong foundation. • Use Household Items for Strength and Mobility~ Fitness equipment costs money, of course. If you want to avoid the expense, going “old school” by introducing home items into your workouts. You can use water or milk jugs, a towel, your stairs, homemade sandbags, a broom, and chains, just about anything that can challenge your core and muscles. For example, you can use a gallon of milk or a detergent jug and use it like a dumbbell or kettlebell. The point is, you need to get moving! • Equip Your Home Gym ~ Because exercise equipment can be expensive, start small. The essential items for starting a home gym include a few pairs of different weight dumbbells, or a set of adjustable-weight dumbbells. Other relatively inexpensive items are resistance bands, jump rope, stability ball, pull-up bar, and an exercise mat. With this equipment, you can create a good, balanced workout that includes pushing and pulling motions.
Please practice good social distancing

GRIDIRON CHALLENGE XIII 2020-2021 CAMP ZAMA COMMUNITY CLUB
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS 2020 The “Gridiron Challenge” is a very popular Camp Zama Community Club program. A high percentage of the military community are “Fans of the NFL” and this challenge provides football fans the opportunity to show their knowledge of the game by picking weekly game winners. There is no cost to play the “Gridiron Challenge.”
There are several parts to the Challenge-- here is some information you should know. PLAYOFF CONTEST
17 WEEKS – REGULAR SEASON For 17 weeks, from September 10, 2020 to January 3, 2021, you can pick up an entry form every Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Game Time Sports Bar showcasing the games scheduled for the upcoming week. Entry forms must be turned in before 7 p.m. to the staff at the CZCC. When you receive your first entry form you will receive information explaining the “tie-breaker” Only one entry per week. Each weekly winner will receive a prize with a value in excess of $175. A photo will be taken of all winners and displayed in the CZCC.
All weekly winners names (17) will be placed in a drawing and the winner will receive VIP seating and a steak breakfast for him / her and 9 friends at Zama’s Super Bowl Party on February 8, 2021.
CUMULATIVE PRIZE
There are two parts to the Play-off Contest.
Play-Off Picks: On Week 14 pick the 12 teams that you think will make the playoffs. Once the playoff teams are determined the participant with the correct teams will win $100. There will be a tie-breaker for the Play-off Picks also. Play-Off Games: Once the playoff teams are determined you must pick which teams will win each game. The format will be the same as during the regular season. Any wins from the regular season do not count in the playoff contest. The conference playoff games are the last games for the playoff challenge. The person with the most wins during the playoffs will receive a $100 prize.
The total wins that each participant picks each week will be kept on file at the CZCC. This sheet will be available for all to view on the Gridiron Challenge Board. The Top 3 players with the most wins after week 17 will receive a prize of $200 (1st Place), $100 (2nd Place) and $50 (3rd Place).
