Tip of the Month Golf is not like brain surgery...It’s harder! This month, I want to discuss some of the finer details of a good swing, because by now, after having religiously implemented all my previous tips… ;) you may be seeking something more advanced to work on in order to improve your ball striking consistency. One of the big differences between professionals and amateurs is the amount of spine angle movement that takes place during the backswing, transition and downswing and it is critical to check this to ensure you are fully prepared for the upcoming season. Imagine a pendulum and think what would happen if you would move the fixed point up and down, or sideways during the swing, you would lose control of the pendulum would you not; well the same will happen to your golf club if your body moves too much. To test your spine angle, you need to set up your camera on a tripod, or non-movable surface, and then record your swing down the line. You can download free video editing software, such as the app “HUDLE”, and then draw a line from your ear to your hip and view how much movement takes place. You may find it overwhelming to analyze yourself, in that case you can book a video lesson and in combination with a TPI physical screening, I can tell you what body imbalances you have, how it affects your swing, also how to work around it and how to fix it completely. If you notice a lot of movement in the backswing, particularly vertically, then you really are at risk of not only hitting the top of the ball, but also shanking it, because when you stand up, you usually also come in closer to the ball. If you notice some movement in the backswing, but you are able to return to the original position in the downswing, then you are capable of hitting good shots, but suffer from the occasional and perhaps now “explainable” blow up hole. If you can keep your ear and hip in the same position from start to impact, at full speed, then you do not need to read any further and I would like to be your coach and caddy as you start competing on the PGA tour, because it means you are a pro. Learning this or any new move can put a bit of strain on your body, such as back, knees, shoulders, so please do take the necessary precautions before trying any new moves and it is always recommended to work together with a PGA Pro to minimize the risk of injuries.

Here are some interesting facts you might not know about Valentine’s day. About 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged each year. This makes it the second largest seasonal card sending time of the year. In 1537, England’s King Henry VII officially declared Feb. 14 the holiday of St. Valentine’s Day. Richard Cadbury produced the first box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day in the late 1800s.
More than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be sold for Valentine’s Day.
73 percent of people who buy flowers for Valentine’s Day are men, while only 27 percent are women.
15 percent of U.S. women send themselves flowers on Valentine’s Day.
Women purchase approximately 85 percent of all Valentine’s day gifts. 220,000 is the average number of wedding proposals on Valentine’s Day each year.

Here’s a Tip Did you know you can use your A/C to defog the inside of the windows? All you have to do is make sure the A/C is on along with the heater. The A/C helps with drying out the air in the car which helps keep the windows from fogging up. And having the fan or vents in the “re-circulation” mode and not outside air mode helps with warming up the car faster.
Note: There’s a $5.00 instructional fee and you must sign up prior to the day of the class. Participants are responsible for all materials/supplies for the class.

The benefits of such a program are as follows: small ratio groups, federal subsidies, business opportunities, resource library, flexible work schedule, and many more. Currently, the Camp Zama community is in desperate need of FCC providers in order to offer this awesome program to the community. If you are interested, please contact Parent Central Services.
School Liaison The School Liaison Officer (SLO) for the Zama Community is available to assist families who have school-age children enrolled in Zama High, Zama Middle, and Arnn Elementary School, or who are home-schooling their children. The School Liaison Officer is available to work with the community and command on any school related issues such as assisting families involved in home-schooling their children by offering/coordinating resources that are available within the community that will help broaden their youth’s hands-on knowledge and experiences. The SLO can offer families information on requirements for registration, graduation, PCS information, collaborate with parents on ensuring academic success of their child and educate parents on the local school system policies and procedures. The SLO can supply families’ information on applying for grants and scholarships and assist families with post secondary education questions. School Age Center School Age Center (SAC) is a great before and after school program for children in grades one to six. There are a wide variety of activities for children in our community throughout the year. SAC offers a variety of care options to include before and after school, hourly, open recreation, and full day for no school and camp programs (winter, spring and summer). Summer Camp is sold in ten weekly packages. Included are meals, snacks, high adventure activities, and weekly field trips. School Age Center has been an active unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America promote positive youth development through the provision of opportunities for young people to develop the skills they will need to become successful and contributing members of our communities.
Youth Center
Youth have the opportunity to assist with creating new programs that peak their interest. Field trips occur on a regular basis and include action/adventure parks, skiing/snowboarding trips, swimming, and other fun activities around Japan. Open to all youth in grades 7th through 12th grade.
Youth Sports & Fitness
Youth Sports and Fitness Program was developed to meet your children’s recreation and athletic needs, emphasizing safety, participation, and fundamental good sportsmanship. Every program is designed to provide all youth the opportunity to participate, develop fundamental skills and grow in an atmosphere of sportsmanship, citizenship and teamwork. Eligible youth may participate in the sports program for a fee. When you register your children to participate, they will be assigned to a team, issued a basic uniform (all uniforms will be hand receipted to parents which must be returned at the end of the season ) and guaranteed a specific amount of playing time. If there are more than one teams in the 9-15 divisions, youth must attend a skills assessment meeting. Each sport season will end with an End of the Season Party which includes food & drinks, and a participation award. Volunteer coaches and officials are always needed. Volunteers are the backbone of all YSF sports programs. All sport fees will be waived for the Head Coach. Assistant coaches receive one child free and subsequent children multiple discount.
