January Humor Corner T’was the month after Christmas, and all through the house, nothing would fit me, not even a blouse; The cookies I’d nibbled, the eggnog I had to taste, at the holiday parties had gone to my waist; When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber), I’d remember the marvelous meals I’d prepared, The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared; The wine and the rum balls; the bread and the cheese, and the way I’d never said, «No thank you, please.» As I dressed myself in my husband’s old shirt, and prepared once again to do battle with dirt, I said to myself, as only I can, «You can’t spend a winter disguised as a man!» So, away with the last of the sour cream dip. Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip. Every last bit of food that I like must be banished, ’til all the additional ounces have vanished. I won’t have a cookie--not even a lick. I’ll want only to chew on a long celery stick. I won’t have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie, I’ll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I’m hungry, I’m lonesome, and life is a bore, But isn’t that what January is for? Unable to giggle, no longer a riot. Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet! Author Unknown Compliments of RTA

Tip of the Month How to Stop “Scooping” Scooping refers to the excessive use of the wrists and is one of the most common errors in golf and causes you to either top the ball or hit the ground first. Using the wrists is not necessarily bad, it simply adds loft and makes a ball go high, but the inconsistency comes from slowing the hands down in the middle of the swing. Doing this is the same as if you were to exert a sudden force to a pendulum, it will wobble instead of rock back and forth smoothly. TECHNICAL: Scooping is the direct result of stopping or interfering with the forward momentum of the hands. MENTAL: Scooping is the direct result of believing that a ball has to go up by getting under it, instead of trusting the loft on the club. FIX: To stop scooping, allow your hands and club head to follow through in synchronization with the body turn. PRACTICE: Practice correct mechanics while looking in a mirror/ipad. Change will come, just be patient and persistent. LESSONS: The winter season is the perfect time to analyze your swing and make changes. Book your lesson today.

Here’s a Winter Tip Now that winter is here it is time to prepare for the morning freeze. If the forecast calls for really low to freezing temperatures or even snow that evening or in the morning, if possible have the wipers on your car in the “up” position so it does not stick to the windshield. This will save the wiper blades and once the windshield warms up enough you can put them down and used them to wipe off the rest of the frost.

Complex Year for: Tigers, Snakes, Boars, Dogs
For those born between Februaries in 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993 and 2005, you are a monkey. At least according to the Chinese astrology. As we enter the Year of the Fire Monkey on February 8, 2016, we can expect anything. The influence of the Monkey will put everything into flux. Things can get accomplished but largely through the ability to find unconventional solutions to problems. Even though the monkey is impatient and scattered brained, he has a whole lot of ingenious ideas in store. So feel free to follow his example. The Year of the Monkey is for taking risks and being rebellious, a year where agile, inventive minds, sheer guts and bravado will win out. Now is the time of courage, action, anarchy, and true devotion to even the wildest of schemes, a time to start new endeavors, for they are destined to succeed under Monkey’s influence. The key to success this year is education. This is not meant as mere college or graduate school but to take up courses that matter for your everyday life not just for your career or status. Don’t be too shy to take up silly little courses at your books shop or join those financial groups to help manage your money or start up a small business. So, run with ideas, embrace the inventive, and don’t look back!

Japanese Macaque aka. Snow Monkey Now that you feel inspired by the Year of the Fire Monkey, 2016 is a perfect year to learn about and visit one of the most famous animals from Japanese folk tales, nursery rhymes, and proverbs. The Japanese Macaque is known as the world’s northernmost non-human wild primate and living under the extreme cold weather like 10 degrees below zero makes them unique in the world. They live throughout Japan, mainly broad leaved forest area, except Hokkaido and the archipelago of Ryukyu (Okinawa), but the best way to see these magnificent animals is through their habitats. The boss A troop of the Japanese Macaque consists of several adult males, adult females (two or three times the number of males) and their babies, a total of 30 individuals or Ox sometimes more than 100 individuals. There is a strong bond between the members as they trust and rely on each other for survival. However, there is a dominance hierarchy in a troop. The highest ranking male is called the boss of the troop. There are many ideas one develops but the truth is that, among the Japanese Macaque, the boss is not an all-powerful individual that everyone fears. He usually stays and relaxes in the shade and so it’s quite hard to find him. Food is in the abundance in the forest so monkeys do not need to fight each other. Other young males don’t aspire to become the boss someday in their future. The hierarchy in a troop is just a temporary thing and is not important for males who often change troops.

The bathing monkey During the cold season, snow monkeys love to take baths in an onsen to keep warm. They do not wash their bodies but simply enjoy the warmth as some of them can be seen almost falling asleep while bathing. They stay away from the bath in the summer as it is hot so plan your visit in the winter.

No feeding Do not attempt to feed the monkeys as they will start to expect it and get quite pushy. They are known to try and steal bags to get to food. Feeding also creates conflicts among the monkeys. Simply enjoy observing monkey’s ecology under natural conditions.
