Whether you’re looking to repair, restore or soup up your auto (or bike), the Camp Zama Auto Skills Center offers everything you could possibly need. An extensive collection of tools, advanced machinery, modern one button-one lever overhead lifts, battery chargers, steam cleaners and electronic testing equipment. Plenty of space to work on vehicles (even H2 Hummers). The center is staffed with experts who are available to provide advice and direction on how to complete just about about any repair job. They even offer limited repair services.

Tip of the Month
I hope you enjoyed your holidays and were able to reflect on a great golfing year, but it is time to start preparing for the new golf season. Last month, I became TPI certified, which means I can now provide you with the same fitness screenings and exercises available to Tour Pros, so that you too can learn to swing more efficiently. One of the most common issues in golfers is the Lower Cross Syndrome and this is a phenomenon that occurs over time when people sit the majority of the day and their hips and lower back become too tight, which in turn weakens the abs and glutes and causes an arched back at set-up, which severely restricts mobility and increases risk of injury. To fix the lower cross syndrome, you would want to lengthen the hips and lower back through a stretching program and strengthen the abs and glutes, through deadlifts for example. Please do take care before starting any new fitness program and discuss it with your health care provider, especially if you have a history of injuries or other ailments. As you have come to learn by now, from my previous articles, all good players start the downswing sequence in the same way, they start with their lower body, followed by their torso, arms and finally the club, this is the only way to swing efficiently.

Shreddin’ the gNar... If you’re gonna be a Snowboarder, you have to talk like one! Here’s a crash course in some common rider lingo:
• Shreddin’ the Gnar’ ~ this means riding the terrain. Basically it’s a really cool way to say, “We’re going snowboarding” • Shreddin’/Ridin’/Cruisin’ ~ They all mean one thing...going down the hill • pow ~ Short for “Powder”...for example, “We’re goin to shred the fresh pow” • kicker/Booter ~ these are different names of jumps • hittin’ ~ this term is used for going off jumps, rails, boxes or anything you do a trick off of • Stomp ~ this is when you land a trick...for example, “He just stomped that landing” • bail ~ this is when you don’t land a trick...for example, “She bailed on that rail” • toe/heel drag ~ a technical term used when the toes or heels of your boot hangs over the the edges of the board. This messes with your carving • cut ~ this refers to a hard turn on either your toe or heel edge • first tracks ~ this is being the first boarder out on the mountain and being able to leave your mark in the snow, before anyone else • tearin’ it up ~ refers to riding really well and confidently • Chatter ~ when the board shakes because of the roughly terrain. Usually occurs when riding on an edge

This should last for a while, but this is only a temporary fix and depending on the location of the crack if it is on the front windshield it may not let the vehicle pass inspection.
Note: There’s a $5.00 instructional fee and you must sign up prior to the day of the class. Participants are responsible for all materials/supplies for the class.

The SLO can supply families’ information on applying for grants and scholarships and assist families with post secondary education questions. School Age Center (SAC) is a great before and after school program for children in grades one to six. There are a wide variety of activities for children in our community throughout the year. SAC offers a variety of care options to include before and after school, hourly, open recreation, and full day for no school and camp programs (winter, spring and summer). Summer Camp is sold in ten weekly packages. Included are meals, snacks, high adventure activities, and weekly field trips. School Age Center has been an active unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America promote positive youth development through the provision of opportunities for young people to develop the skills they will need to become successful and contributing members of our communities.
Youth Center
Youth have the opportunity to assist with creating new programs that peak their interest. Field trips occur on a regular basis and include action/adventure parks, skiing/snowboarding trips, swimming, and other fun activities around Japan. Open to all youth in grades 7th through 12th grade.
Youth Sports & Fitness
Youth Sports and Fitness Program was developed to meet your children’s recreation and athletic needs, emphasizing safety, participation, and fundamental good sportsmanship. Every program is designed to provide all youth the opportunity to participate, develop fundamental skills and grow in an atmosphere of sportsmanship, citizenship and teamwork. Eligible youth may participate in the sports program for a fee. When you register your children to participate, they will be assigned to a team, issued a basic uniform (all uniforms will be hand receipted to parents which must be returned at the end of the season ) and guaranteed a specific amount of playing time. If there are more than one teams in the 9-15 divisions, youth must attend a skills assessment meeting. Each sport season will end with an End of the Season Party which includes food & drinks, and a participation award. Volunteer coaches and officials are always needed. Volunteers are the backbone of all YSF sports programs. All sport fees will be waived for the Head Coach. Assistant coaches receive one child free and subsequent children multiple discount.
