SHA Coffee Shop Monday-Friday: 6:30 - 11 a.m. The U.S. Army Sagamihara Family Housing Area (SFHA) has requested a cafe-type facility. In 2016, that demand took shape in many forums; discussions at the Commanding General (CG) and Garrison Town Hall meetings, CG's Facebook Town Hall, customer feedback, I.C.E. comments and many others. We are proud to now offer coffee, smoothies and pastries at the SHA Club. "Customers can now visit our facility Monday - Friday, 6:30 - 11 a.m. for a cup of their favorite brew and perhaps, even a pastry or two," says Mr. Michael Larkin, Club Manager. "Come on down and relax, listen to some soothing music while enjoying coffee, smoothies, and pastries with family and friends. Our staff welcomes you to the Coffee Bar," he added with a smile. Before you go in to work, or after your morning run, please stop by for your morning brew. We are delighted to serve you and look forward to your feedback!

EVER BEEN TO KURE HARBOR? Camp Kure (Akizuki) Recreation/Lodging
During WWII, the Kure Naval District was Japan’s single largest naval base and arsenal, housing most of the city’s industry and workforce employed in the service of naval installations, munitions factories and other support functions. It is this strategic significance that drew a heavy and sustained Allied bombardment culminating in the Bombing of Kure in June and July 1945. Today, Kure continues to be a major maritime center hosting the dockyards of numerous shore based facilities of the JMSDF, gaining fame as a tourism center featuring artifacts and mementos from the JMSDF museum of naval history. Come and visit Camp Kure and immerse yourself in the beauty and history of Kure Harbor. Our facilities offer dining & bar services, a package store, gym, commissary, clean and convenient lodging at affordable rates. September 1941

During the summer, one of the most popular outdoor recreations in Japan is camping. From the last week of July until August every year you will see a lot of campers bringing their family, camping car and tents to preferred campsites of Japan. At the moment, the country has almost 3,000 campsites. The campsites here in Japan might be different from those in the other countries of America and Europe, but you can still experience the most thrilling and amazing summer camping because of the beautiful scenic spots and campgrounds. Listed below are some recommended and most favored campsites around Japan that you might include into your summer plans or vacation: • Ohara Auto Camp-jo • Chiba • Nagatoro Auto Camp-jo • Saitama (great campsite near a river) • Water Park Nagatoro • Minano • Saitama Prefecture • Shibamasa World • Fukui Prefecture • Wakasu Park Camping Ground • Koto • Tokyo • Kyuka Mura Sanuki Goshikidai Camp-jo • Kanagawa • Shimizu Park Camping Ground • Noda • Chiba Prefecture
Glamping
Have you ever heard of the term “glamping?” Apparently, it’s a new trend that is taking the world by storm, including Japan. The word “glamping” is basically a combination of the words glamorous and camping, so glamping is the term used for a glamorous camping trip. When glamping, there is no need for you to set up your own campsite or go to the toilet in the woods. Glamping is like staying at a luxurious hotel room while still being in the great outdoors. Here are just a few glampsites: • Ise-shima Everglades • Hatsushima Island Camp Villa • Camp & Cabins • Nasu • Wildmagic • Tokyo • Outdoor Sports Park

Camp Zama Child & Youth Services (CYS) just completed their annual Army Higher Headquarter Inspection (AHHI). CYS scored an amazing 99% during the unannounced inspection which reviews compliance in several areas such as; fire and safety, health and sanitation, nutrition, personnel management and program oversight. This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the CYS staff and management team. The entire USAG Japan community would like to say thank you for your efforts in making Camp Zama’s CYS one of the best Child & Youth Programs in the Army.
