Tip of the Month Home Improvement Too cold to play? Don’t let the cold weather stop you from practicing. Here are some fun exercises you can do at home to prepare for the upcoming season. 1) Do you want to keep your head still and learn to rotate, instead of sway? Take a towel and put it against a door post, then rest your head on the towel, don’t push in to it, make sure your weight is evenly balanced on your feet and not all on your toes, then cross your arms across your chest and start rotating. This may feel very restricted, but it will teach a rotary move, versus a lateral one, which can lead to a dramatic improvement in consistency. Interestingly enough, as I progressed through the different stages of ability, from beginner to pro, I improved most when I started reducing unnecessary movements, which at first felt like I did not move at all, but eventually just felt simple and compact. 2) Struggling to start your putts online? Practice putting against a wall. Do not push your putter against the wall, instead rest it lightly and practice going straight back and through. While there are different opinions about whether or not to teach a straight back-straight through putting stroke versus an arc stroke, for most amateur golfers, they would stand a lot to gain by this exercise. Also try your best to minimize the face rotation while doing this, meaning keep the club face aiming at the target at all times. 3) Laundry hamper golf Roll up your socks and chip them into a laundry hamper, bucket or dust bin. The fact the socks are soft, means you will have to actually accelerate, which is a key ingredient to becoming a better chipper and if you have a partner, he or she will hopefully appreciate your help keeping the house tidy!

Mt. Takao Fire Walking Festival • 12 March Atop Mt. Takao in west Tokyo on the second Sunday of March each year, witness the impressive spectacle that is fire-walking held at Yakuoin Temple. As Yamabushi monks bravely walk barefoot over the hot coals while chanting, praying for safety and cleansing themselves from impurities. Onlookers can also participate in the ceremony once the main fire itself has been put out, when it is generally safer to visitors to take part.

FUN FACTS Leprechauns earned that gold they’re guarding. According to legend, leprechauns spend their days making and mending shoes. It’s hard work, so you can’t blame them for being territorial about their pots of gold.
Saint Patrick himself would have to deal with pinching on his feast day. His color was “Saint Patrick’s blue,” a light shade. The color green only became associated with the big day after it was linked to the Irish independence movement in the late 18th century.
Currently, the town of Hot Springs, Arkansas claims to have the shortest parade – a 98 foot route on Bridge Street. Recent participants included the Irish Elvises and the San Diego Chicken.
*Don’t forget to stop by the “St. Patrick’s Festival” at Sagami Depot. A 2016 estimate pegged the total amount spent on beer for Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations at $4.4 billion. And that’s before tips to pubs’ bartenders.

Here’s a Tip Now that the weather is getting warmer don’t forget to check the tire pressure. Having the incorrect tire pressure could cause bad fuel economy. With bad fuel economy you will unnecessarily spend more of your hard earned money you could spend on something else. SAFETY TIP: The tire pressure listed on some tires sidewall is NOT the recommended tire pressure but the MAXIMUM tire pressure and should not be inflated to this number. You can find the true tire pressure for your car on the driver side door opening. This is the vehicle manufacturer recommended tire pressure and should be used. Listed below is the metric “bar” to PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) “approximation” and some vehicles may have separate tire pressure for front and rear. 1.0 = 14.5psi • 1.5 = 22psi 2.0 = 29psi • 2.2 = 32psi 2.5 = 36psi *Note = 2.5 and higher is normally for trucks and cargo vans. 4.0 = 60psi is normally for the “doughnut” spare tire and not full size spare tire. The difference is a “doughnut” is usually yellow or orange with some black. European vehicles may have them in red.
