Something New Is Happening This Summer
SFHA Outdoor Pool
Summer is nearly upon us and we’re expecting the weather to get hot real soon. A great way to beat the heat is to take a plunge and cool down at the Sagamihara Family Housing Area (SFHA) Outdoor Pool. The pool’s seasonal opening will be held Saturday, May 26 and we’re starting it off island-style, with “Island Breeze Vol.2!” This event will feature non-stop live band & DJ music, hula dancing, island style food & beverages and so much more. So come on down and enjoy the entertainment with family and friends, or just kick back and relax at the SFHA Outdoor Pool this summer!
Written by Roger M. Pueblos
New Additions
You’ll be seeing a few new changes this summer at the SFHA Outdoor Pool. For starters, we’re adding a water slide! Yes, a Vortex water slide more than 10 feet tall, with a 360° corkscrew style, 19 feet long enclosed “flume” slide.
“Island Breeze Vol. 2” See page 10 for more info.
Also new to our facility this summer is the “Shaka’s Tiki Bar & Snack Shack.” This themed bar is a welcome visual addition to our pool and provides our pool customers with onsite access to a variety of snacks and cold beverages.
• Family Pass (NO limit on family members) $150
Family Pass Discount Price! Before May 26, 2018: $99 BBQ & Party Pavillion
Tiki Bar & Snack Shack Just a reminder, we have a BBQ & Party Rental Area complete with 2 separate grill stations, a sink area, and picnic tables/benches that can accommodate up to 75 people. It even has a big metal canopy to protect you from the sun and inclement weather. This is a great location for pool birthday parties and get-togethers, please check with the pool staff for more information. https://zama.armymwr.com 2

White Water Rafting Don’t miss this exciting adventure on one of Japan’s pristine rivers in Gunma Prefecture. Snow from the mountains melts into the river and the water is at peak level with class III rapids this season. However, the river condition depends on the day, so we cannot guarantee good rafting conditions. After the exciting activity, relax and enjoy a lunch plate by the river.

On the first hole, the lowest score among the four players is the team score. On the 2nd hole the two lowest scores become the team score. On the 3rd hole the 3 lowest scores become the team score. On the 4th hole it’s back to the lowest one score, and so on throughout the round.
