Message from our MWR Director Camp Zama Community, Over the past few months, the DFMWR has strived to re-imagine what is possible during the ever changing conditions and circumstances to keep our Community resilient and engaged during these tough times. We deployed the Community Immunity Team (CIT) to dream up, develop and execute innovative programming, re-structured our practices in CYS to maximize safety of our kids and staff to allowing Mission Essential personnel to remain on the front lines of the fight, and provided an array of personalized services through Army Community Service strengthening families. As conditions improved, we ramped up our already stringent health and sanitization standards in all of our front door facilities to ensure safe operations of our programs. Moving forward, we will continue to expand our programs and services as conditions allow and work with MEDDAC and Command to ensure we are doing everything we can to keep participants and the community safe in all of our expanded opportunities. While conditions allow, we encourage you to take advantage of the plethora of offerings and programs available to you! Sign up for an ODR Trip and see more of Japan or try out one of our fitness classes this month. Bring your friends to the Fall Festival, or meet some new ones there! Thank you for allowing us to serve you, we take a great deal of pleasure and pride in everything we do for you.

EVER BEEN TO KURE HARBOR? KURE RECREATION CENTER

During WWII, the Kure Naval District was Japan’s single largest naval base and arsenal, housing most of the city’s industry and workforce employed in the service of naval installations, munitions factories and other support functions. It is this strategic significance that drew a heavy and sustained Allied bombardment culminating in the Bombing of Kure in June and July 1945. Today, Kure continues to be a major maritime center hosting the dockyards of numerous shore based facilities of the JMSDF, gaining fame as a tourism center featuring artifacts and mementos from the JMSDF museum of naval history. There are two parts to the Play-off Contest.

Play-Off Picks: On Week 14 pick the 12 teams that you think will make the playoffs. Once the playoff teams are determined the participant with the correct teams will win $100. There will be a tie-breaker for the Play-off Picks also. Play-Off Games: Once the playoff teams are determined you must pick which teams will win each game. The format will be the same as during the regular season. Any wins from the regular season do not count in the playoff contest. The conference playoff games are the last games for the playoff challenge. The person with the most wins during the playoffs will receive a $100 prize.

The total wins that each participant picks each week will be kept on file at the CZCC. This sheet will be available for all to view on the Gridiron Challenge Board. The Top 3 players with the most wins after week 17 will receive a prize of $200 (1st Place), $100 (2nd Place) and $50 (3rd Place).
