Parents, educators, and members of the community, To say this year has been completely unpredictable and difficult would be a grave understatement. People all over our community have had to drastically adjust their lifestyles to protect themselves from the dangerous spread of Coronavirus. Even at our school, social distancing and other necessary health protocols are being strictly enforced for the protection of the staff, students, and teachers. Many seniors like myself have worked hard for the past three years in hopes of being able to “live a little” our final year of high school. However, it quickly became apparent that even the smallest things we once took for granted were taken away from us by a global pandemic. Sports, clubs, dances, and even pep rallies appeared as if they would be a distant memory. For my fellow seniors this was especially disconcerting, as we will never have the chance to experience these uniquely high school events ever again. That being said, there are certain members of our community that have worked tirelessly to make our senior year as memorable and positive as possible despite these unforeseen circumstances. The senior class student council board and senior class sponsor, Mrs. Moore has been an unforgettable help this year. The senior student council board has been the most dedicated, supportive, and optimistic group of people I have had the privilege of working with throughout my three years of involvement in student government. Together, we have been able to raise ample funds for our class as well as plan various senior end of year events. Our amazing class sponsor has been working constantly behind the scenes to make sure all the finer details and senior traditions are held up to standard, as well as running smoothly and with extreme care. Without her, our council would not be able to function half as well as it has been. The staff at our high school have also been an amazing help during these troubling times. In particular, I would like to thank our principal Mr. LeFebre, as well as our Athletic Director, Mr. Bolin. Mr. LeFebre has been collaborating with other staff members as well as various members of the senior class to plan and execute a graduation ceremony that would allow for all seniors and their family members to attend at one time, rather than having multiple graduations. They, in accordance and approval from command as well as MEDDAC, have been flexible and communicative in allowing us to hold what will become a graduation that is both enjoyable as well as safe. Mr. Bolin’s efforts this year should also not go unnoticed. Thanks to his continued efforts, sports events were able to be held in both the fall and spring seasons, although in a limited capacity. Cross country, marksmanship, and color guard were able to have virtual events with other PacEast teams at the end of their fall season. For the spring season soccer, baseball, softball and track are now able to compete with local Kanto teams in person for the spring season due to our effective mitigation strategies within the community and the decreased number of cases throughout Japan. Most of all, the senior class thanks parents for their continued and unwavering support towards their seniors as they finish their final months of high school and prepare to enter college or the workforce. Sincerely, Meridean Duarte Student Council Senior Class President

EVER BEEN TO KURE HARBOR? KURE RECREATION CENTER

During WWII, the Kure Naval District was Japan’s single largest naval base and arsenal, housing most of the city’s industry and workforce employed in the service of naval installations, munitions factories and other support functions. It is this strategic significance that drew a heavy and sustained Allied bombardment culminating in the Bombing of Kure in June and July 1945. Today, Kure continues to be a major maritime center hosting the dockyards of numerous shore based facilities of the JMSDF, gaining fame as a tourism enter featuring artifacts and mementos from the JMSDF museum of naval history. Come and visit Kure Recreation Center and immerse yourself in the beauty and history of Kure Harbor. Our facilities offer dining & bar services, a package store, gym, commissary, clean and convenient lodging at affordable rates.

Services

• Wash-N-Wax Service Our Wash-N-Wax service consists of a basic wash & wax of the outside only, with tire waxing included. There is a additional cost for cleaning the interior. For more information and fees, please stop by or give us a call. • Towing Services We offer a towing service and roadside assistance Wednesday through Sunday during operational hours of the Auto Skills Center. For more information and rates, please give us a call.

• Bicycle Tools WE HAVE BICYCLE TOOLS! Stop by the shop and inquire what we have to help with your bicycle repairs and maintenance!

Top Tips • Simple Detailing with Household Remedies a. If you do not like the shiny sheen by the majority of “tire wax” manufacturers try some liquid dishwashing soap on a rag, it’ll give the tires a “satin” look. b. For bringing back the color of black bumpers try some peanut oil c. Another cheap tip try, using some shaving cream for cleaning leather d. Cleaning windows inside or outside try vinegar, this also works for chrome just make sure to put a good coat of wax on after e. Need to remove glue residue from stickers & emblems or polish chrome? Try using erasers; pink for polishing chrome, light brown for removing stickers and glue residue, you may also try the “plastic erasers” and see what works with this type.

• Baby Wipes Did you know you can use baby wipes to clean the interior of your vehicle? Of course one company may work better than another but either way this would still be cheaper than buying the “big name brands” that say theirs are the best for interiors. NOTE! For leather interior/seats you may want to try on a small area to make sure it does not damage the leather.
