• Michelle Cloarec, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cloarec, was recognized for excellence during Southern College of Optometry’s Twelfth Annual Spring Awards Banquet. Michelle received both the excellence and the clinical award for third-year students at SCO. • Christine Backhaus was appointed Library Director for the Camrose Public Library, taking over the duties of previous director, Robin Brown. Backhaus has a library degree from the University of Toronto and has worked previously for the Kingston Public Library in Ontario as well as the Alberta Legislature Library. • The Rose City Residential Support Society received donations from two district organizations. Round Hill Women’s Institute Treasurer, Jeanne Campbell presented a cheque to Support Society Board Member Lucie Owen while Mary Smith of the Spring Lake CWL presented their cheque to Darlene Haesloop, who is also a director of the society.

• Officials of the Alberta Motor Association were in Camrose to meet with the members of the local advisory board, Chairman George Lemay, member Max McLean and Ross Anderson, AMA Camrose Branch Manager. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a new anti-pollution program aimed at harmful automobile emissions. • The first Charter Aircraft to use the Camrose Airport was a Gateway Aviation Douglas DC3 which was chartered by The Camrose Lion’s Club for an interclub visitation to the Fort McMurray Lions Club. Shown boarding the aircraft were: President of the Camrose Club, Gordon Hay; Lion Walter Manchakowski, Project Chairman; Lion Bob Watson, and Lion Orville Collyer. The passenger list included twenty Camrose Lions, Lions District Governor, Arnold Fredlund from Forestburg and seven other guests from Camrose. Ross Shuman of Shuman Travel, who made all arrangements for the Charter was on hand to ensure an on-time departure. • Stan Boreson, Hit Parade Star, will bring “Just a Little Lefse” to Camrose, in person, when he appears in several shows each day at the 1972 edition of Jaywalkers’ Jamboree. Visitors can expect to see and hear the comic vocalist on the CFCW Stage on main street.
