INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOPS & RESEARCH PROJECTS We are happy to announce REGENERATION as the theme of the set of the WORKSHOPS.

REGENERATION Industrial areas become unique venues for art and creative audience. It is a concept of another approach to work and to rest, a place where people can work, find inspiration, implement all ideas.. GENERATE MEANS TO GIVE A NEW LIFE In Kiev there is continues development of industrial zones and old buildings: Vidubichi plant, Closer which has returned to life. Art-zavod Platforma is an example of the gentrification of Darnicky Silk Factory. Which was built in the 1950s, but in the mid-1990s, has stopped its work. More than thirty buildings were unused. But six years ago the owners had decided to create out of this place cluster or market following the example of the London borough market. The process has started and some of the spaces had been transformed, at the same time, there is still plenty of space to recreate.

04

CASE: ART ZAVOD PLATFORMA THEME: UNUSED SCAPE AIM: ACTIVATION OF THE SPACE These 3 steps WORKSHOP & RESEARCH is going to face questions: - What are the possibilities for producing public space, generating the place of dialogue and interaction? - CAN we design, prototype and implement a real active space in a frame of three workshops? - Will it become an infrastructure for future events? - How can we use production waste to create objects which will give a life to a space? - Will this project bring together students and professionals from across borders and connects the public with the designer community? We have the opportunity to build projects, on the site in ART ZAVOD PLATFORMA. We are looking for architecture, designer, art students or graduate, who feel inspired by giving life to unused spaces.

15-17 APRIL RESEARCH FROM UNUSED SPACE TO “THE CONTEMPORARY SQUARE” The workshop will investigate on the “strategies of the void”, in order to imagine the agoràs of today: what are the possibilities for producing public space, generating the place of dialogue and interaction in the democratic and plural domain of the city. What are the types of intervention this space could host, the utopias it can contain, the ways it can be reloaded in its relevance… how to intensify the character of a place, how to make it lively it through activities, how to embed special narratives in a sort of 0-degree architecture played by programs and devices.

The Bureau is an office for architecture, landscape and cities, currently based in Italy. We operate as a collective intelligence within the threshold between project and research: here the pooling of skills aims to the most simple result, through a rigorous creative and rational process. We believe real and powerful design lies at the point where naiviete and magic meet rationalism, research, and experimentation.

14-15 MAY – CONCEPTUAL CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF THE SPACES AND OBJECTS “MAPPING THE POSSIBILITIES, NURTURING POTENTIAL, UNLEASHING CREATIVE GENIUS ON FAR MORE THAN MERE AESTHETICS" During the workshop we will finalise the research of the unused spaces, which has been made during the first workshop. After what, we will take the next step, to create conceptual designs for the spaces.

These data are the basis of successful physical expression of social demand on the transformation of the urban environment.
