This time of year is always bittersweet. It is sad to see so many of our residents depart, whether for off-campus accommodations, graduation, or to return home for the summer. However, it is also the opportunity for new beginnings, and to share in new experiences with incoming residents, conference guests, and—of course—the warm weather! I would like to thank each of our residents for choosing to stay with us at Centennial Place this year, whether you began in Fall or Winter, and express my sincerest gratitude for your contributions, feedback, and participations in all aspects of Residence Life. We cannot do this without the students who live in Residence, and each of you are the reason we choose to come to work every day with a smile. On behalf of the team, and from the bottom of my heart, “Thank You!” - Matthew Fleming

- Christopher, RA As the year comes to an end, you might find that your friends are graduating, while you have to stay here and continue studying. You probably will want to stay in touch with those people. Here are some tips for staying in touch with long distance friends: Make it a routine -Maybe spend some time each day and shoot them a text. Whatever you do, do it consistently. This will help you to remember to do it.
SUMMER STAY
Use social media -It was literally designed to assist people in communicating, when they can not see each other in person. Also, you can use it to remind you of your friends birthdays and in turn wish them Happy Birthday; this shows

that you still remember them and think of them.
Invite your friends to real life events -If you live far away, this is the perfect opportunity to meet up with people you would like to see, but normally can

not. Use your best judgment -If your friend does not reply the first time you message them, do not think they are ignoring you. People get busy, and forget. It is important to not give up trying to reach them, while at the same time, not harassing them either.

MOVE OUT DAY
END OF THE LINE
To all the Lightning McQueens, The coming of spring marks not only the beginning of a new season and a new you, but also brings along with it a lot of worry and panic. With graduation on the horizon for many, job hunting madness will begin. Before competing against others in this rat race, I think it would be helpful if you knew some things about how the world operates, prior to stepping out of the secure bubble of school. and residence. Realize the importance of patience - It is highly cliched, but patience is always the key. Be ready to accept the fact that sometimes you might not land your ‘dream job’ in the first go. Ask yourself what you want to be doing – the outside world filled with “motivational speakers” and “game changers” are often overrated. Do what makes you are happy! If you want to be like Elon Musk and change the world, do it, but always be aware of the costs you incur and the sacrifices you might have to make. Don't let your grades deter you - Sometimes you might fall short of the requirement set forth for your career, but go to the interview, nevertheless. Showing up and taking the risk is half the battle; after that it is about perspiration and about how much willingness you show to climb above the ladder Realize that, it is not our goals or the final destination that defines us, but it is the choices we make along the way. Keep in mind that you have to pass on the torch after your goals are met; uplift people along the way and don’t be selfish. In the movie Cars, it was absolutely essential that McQueen wins the race, yet he stopped and helped The King win after he crashed. Now, you are at the end line. Choose how you want to win. Don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do and don’t go by the set rules - Sweth, RA
