What is it? Parkside residents in teams of 4 were given a specific kitchen within the building and a cart of items from the cafeteria. Teams were given 2 hours to make a 3course meal (appetizer, main course and dessert) to present to the judges. Judging took place in the cafeteria, and each team received feedback from the judges. K-CUP COOK OFF COMPETITION MARCH 31, 2019
ABOUT THE K-CUP
K-CUP COOK OFF The second great K-Cup Cook Off challenge happened on March 31st. Parkside welcomed all the teams from CampusOne and Centennial Place as well as the Parkside internal Cook Off champions.
Three teams of four faced each other at a two-hour time limited race to cook the best three-course meal. This year all the plates were judged by Patrick from Knightstone, Meg from American Campus Communities, Chef Devan from Cityline and Chef Richard from Chartwells.
Although all the teams brought their best game, for the second time in a row, Centennial Place won the K-Cup 2019. We thank all of the judges, teams and the supporters for their passion and participation.

ACE YOUR EXAMS STUDY TIPS Take a 15 minute break for every hour of studying. Work in a clean space‌ Take advantage of our study rooms! Read over notes after class. Exercise during breaks. Make study guides! Give yourself adequate time to sleep. Minimize distractions. Remain positive! Relax before the exam to reduce stress. Write your study notes in different coloured pens. Comprehend not memorise.
HOW TO STUDY SMART Exercise Between study sessions you should consider hitting the gym, kicking a ball around, or even dancing a few steps because any kind of exercise greatly improves brain power.
Become a Teacher Try to explain the material in your own words, as if you are the teacher. You can do this in a study group, with a study partner, or on your own. Saying the material aloud will point out where you are confused and need more information and will help you retain the information.
Take Control of Your Calendar One of the most impactful learning strategies is “distributed practice”— spacing out your studying over several short periods of time over several days and weeks. On the other hand, overloaded information like cramming, does not have a chance to enter long-term memory.
Use Downtime to Your Advantage Beware of ‘easy’ weeks. This is the calm before the storm. Lighter work weeks are a great time to get ahead on work or to start long projects. Use the extra hours to get ahead on assignments or start big projects or papers.
GREAT PLACES TO STUDY Page One Cafe This cafe and cocktail bar on Mutual St. is favourite among Ryerson faculty and students alike. There's plenty of seating, a chill vibe and lots of nourishment to keep the energy up.
5 Elements Espresso The Italian-inspired cafe in Yorkville offers two floors of studyfriendly space. There's a mix of solo seating and large tables, so it's great for tackling everything from essays to group work.
Krave Coffee The St. Clair West cafe has quickly become a fan favourite for working and studying. Its two-person tables are ideal for solo caffeine-fuelled cram sessions.
Istanbul Cafe The Turkish cafe offers a warm and inviting environment to sit back and relax while you get your work done. The space has ample seating that is conductive for independent or group projects.
