Start early Start early
Packing always takes longer than you think, so it's essential to start early. Begin by sorting through your belongings and deciding what you want to keep, donate, or throw away. This will help you streamline the packing process and avoid bringing unnecessary items with you.
Get packing supplies Get packing supplies
Make sure you have plenty of packing supplies on hand, such as boxes, tape, bubble wrap, and markers. You can often find free boxes at local grocery stores or through online marketplaces. Having the right supplies will make packing more efficient and help protect your belongings during transit.
Pack strategically Pack strategically
When packing your boxes, think strategically about how to maximize space and prevent damage. Use sturdy boxes for heavy items and fragile items, and fill empty spaces with packing paper or bubble wrap to prevent shifting. Label each box with its contents and the room it belongs in to make unpacking easier later on.
Clean as you go Clean as you go
As you pack up your belongings, take the time to clean your living space. Wipe down surfaces, vacuum floors, and dispose of any trash or recycling. Not only will this leave the residence hall in good condition for the next occupants, but it will also help you avoid a last-minute cleaning frenzy on move-out day.
