Hello Residents,

It’s hard to believe that your first semester at school is almost complete and the Holiday Season is upon us! I truly hope you are enjoying your time and feeling at home at Parkside. One of my goals for 2023 is to see more of you at our community events. Meeting other residents and making friends for life is part of the experience we want you to have. If there is an event you would like to see or that would inspire you to join in, please drop me a line I will gladly share with our amazing Residents Life Team. JGluck@studenthousing.com. We also have some Community Assistant(CA) positions opening. If you would like to know more or are interested in joining our team and making a difference, please email our Residence Life Coordinator Daniel. DFLTravieso@ studenthousing.com

Thank you for participating in our recent student PULSE survey. We take this feedback very seriously and will be sharing some pertinent results and related plans in the new year.

Wishing you the best of luck with exam season and the happiest of holidays. If you are travelling home safe travels and if you are staying with us swing by the office for a candy cane and a smile.

Important Holiday Break Reminders

Communities near universities are often the target for property crime during semester breaks and extended holiday weekends. Stay smart by following these guidelines:

Don’t broadcast on social media that you won’t be home.

Regardless of the precautions you may take, this is public information that a criminal could use. Don’t share your travel plans with anyone you don’t trust.

Don’t forget to lock your doors and windows and pull the blinds and curtains closed.

If possible, take valuable items with you. If not, conceal them. Never leave a key “hidden” outside your apartment.

Make your apartment look lived in.

Use programmable switch timers on lights or radios or leave the light on in your bathroom to allow filtered light into your bedroom.

Leave your thermostat on HEAT and set to a minimum of 65 degrees.

Severe damage could occur if temperatures drop and pipes freeze. If you fail to leave your thermostat on, you will be charged for damages. Please be mindful that if your unit has two thermostats, both thermostats must be placed on the same setting. Failing to do so could lead to potential maintenance issues and damage to your unit.

Lock your car and don’t leave anything of value in plain view. Most vehicle break-ins occur when the owner fails to lock their car or leaves a valuable item (purse, credit/debit card, backpack, etc) in plain view.

Please report all maintenance requests as soon as possible. Do not wait until you are back in town as the additional time may lead to further concerns.

Be a good neighbor.

If you are staying in your apartment through the holiday break, please notify the police immediately (by dialing 911) if you see any suspicious activity.

Do you have renter’s insurance? As a resident of this community, you are encouraged to have renter’s insurance. To receive information about our preferred insurance partners, reach out to the front office.

Please refer to the Safety Guidelines from your lease contract for additional safety information.
