Mission

The mission of the Parkside Students Residence Council is to represent the interests of the residents by creating a greater sense of community through facilitating social and educational events. Residence Council is a group of students who live in Parkside Student Residence, volunteering together to represent the interests and needs of all residents. Members are very involved and take part actively in making residence a fun and exciting place to live. Residence Council is governed by a constitution voted in by all elected representatives.

Why should I join Res-Council?

All residents are invited to get involved and to participate in council meetings to propose and plan events. There are so many reasons to join, but here are the top 6:

1. You'll meet new friends from all over residence and build your social, personal, and educational networks.

2. You can take lead to plan and execute great events (we have a budget for events, and you’ll get a say in how it’s spent!)

3. You’ll develop great skills (like gaining experience, communication, deductive reasoning, and event planning) and it looks great on a resume.

4. It's not a huge time commitment (a one-hour meeting bi-weekly to monthly).

5. Council is a great first step to getting involved in the residence (past Council members have gone on to become Community Assistants and managers in our organization)

6. With successful completion and continuous involvement in council you may be receiving an amazing reference letter from the management for your new endeavours.

7. Look forward to ongoing Surprise and Delight Incentives from the Property Staff team. Note that certain high-value giveaways may be granted to outstanding Council members, as determined by the residence management, who have demonstrated strong involvement in their community and within their Res Council Team.
