Are you excited by the possibilities out there to build relationships and brand recognition for Nutracelle, while simultaneously encouraging people to reach their health and their life goals? We want to help you utilize Facebook to develop a business network through the power of Social Media!
Facebook now has more than ONE BILLION active users worldwide

3,125,000 Facebook likes occur per minute.
To really seal the deal that Facebook is the perfect place to grow your business: ONE out of every TWO people online have a Facebook account, meaning ONE of every SEVEN people on EARTH have a Facebook account! So, let’s grow your business! We’ll start by exploring strategies that you can use to build a local, regional, national and international network of friends and clients through Facebook.
We want to help YOU go viral because YOUR success is important to us.
As we’ve mentioned earlier, Facebook is one of the fastest growing and easiest social networking communities on the Internet. It’s a continually growing community that offers a variety of ways to create conversations, share content of value, and build relationships with a network of friends, potential customers, and support. You are going to share details of who you are, what treats you like to make and the ease of it all. Just keep in mind – typically everything on Facebook is where the world can see it. If you wouldn’t do it in public, at work, or at a tasting party, don’t do it on Facebook! We’ll be covering much more of that as we go along!Your number one goal with Facebook and all of your Social Media Marketing efforts is to take them back to your personal “shop site” https://join. nutracelle.com/your-name and interact with them there, and further the relationship there. Facebook is constantly changing and so are our marketing and branding efforts! You’ll see Fan Pages, Business Pages and Brand Timelines, which are all the same.
It’s easy to convince them to sign up for Nutracelle so you can get your 3 FOR FREE each and every month when they learn how easily they can get their product for FREE too!
You’ll also see Personal Profile and Personal Timeline, which are also one and the same. Some times, things get moved around a little on the Facebook layout, but overall, the strategy is the same for using Facebook.
So are you ready to get started with the basics? Let’s DO it!
Get Signed Up If you have not already started on Facebook, get signed up – http: //www.facebook.com Fill in the blanks! We recommend using your real name because our goal is to brand yourself, first. So, we don’t recommend calling yourself “Nutracelle Rep #1” or using a product name or anything like that. Using your name will increase your “ Searchability” on Google (which is great!). As more and more people are hopping on Facebook to reconnect, you’ll want to leave a clear path to be found. Fun Fact : If you’re married, you can also add your maiden name in your Account Settings. Once you make an account, you will be prompted to start adding friends. Don’t! Not until your profile picture is up and your information is completed. Just follow the links and prompts that pop up on Facebook. We’re going to go over two areas of Facebook your timeline (also known as your profile) and your brand timeline (your business page!) You’ll need to understand both to really master their role in your marketing strategy.
First, do you want to insert your business page onto your personal timeline or would you rather keep your Facebook completely personal?
Pros & Cons When you are using your personal facebook page, your friends are much MORE likely to see your posts and interact with you. When you are using a facebook business page, you will need to work harder in the beginning to build awareness.
Best of Both Worlds Most Nutracelle Consultants choose to integrate their business onto their personal timeline and vice versa. We think it makes sense to share your business on your personal page because when you host parties or contact potential clients, your personal and business sides intersect. We encourage you to create a “3D” approach online so you become a real person to those who have never met you. The best way to sell a product is to be real and relatable. Offline, we would go to a party and talk a lot about the protein treats you’ve brought along. We would also talk a little about our family and interests while doing business. So, try taking the same approach on Facebook. If you REALLY want to use Facebook for creating and growing your business, it makes COMPLETE sense for both of your pages to overlap! You will have three opportunities to connect and get your message out there through your personal profile, your business page and your followers (more on that later!).
So, let’s create your personal timeline! Are you excited? We are!

Touring the Facebook Timeline If you aren’t familiar with Facebook, you can take this little tour of a Facebook Profile. We will talk about what matters and give you tips to keep in mind. The photo above shows key areas, and you can follow the arrows and matching description with the details below the photo on what to know about each area.
Key Elements for an effective Timeline: Creating your profile should be fun, and fairly intuitive! If you need to edit an area just put your cursor on the selected area and you’ll see a little edit “pencil” show up.
Now, we’ll cover the different areas and show you how to make them work for you!
Your Profile Picture This is SUPER important. It’s called FACEBOOK. This is the first picture potential clients are going to see of you. It must be effective. You know that old saying, “First impressions are everything?” Here’s your chance to make a really powerful first impression. Don’t have a head shot laying around? Take one! On you personal Facebook page, your profile picture should not be your dog, your children, a comedic meme or an inspirational message. Save your favourite Nutracelle pictures for your business profile picture. The worst thing you can do is not have a picture at all. The Internet is a visual place, and people will be interested in your personal appearance! Think about it… Do you accept a friend request from someone without a picture unless it is a family member or someone from your past that you really want to connect with? No. And that’s okay! You’ll find most Social Media gurus won’t either. So, to upload or change your profile picture, remove it, or reposition the thumbnail, hover your mouse pointer over your profile picture, and click the Edit Profile Picture option, then simply choose your desired photo. We recommend using the same profile picture on all of your social media sites (like LinkedIn, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram) to promote consistency. Remember, you are branding yourself and your image is where the whole branding process begins.
Your Cover Photo This is the big photo that will span across the top of your page. Keep in mind that we think it’s a good idea to have fun with your cover photo! Change it to go with the holidays, seasons, or events. By changing your photo frequently you also encourage engagement and create exposure. It also keeps your profile in the newsfeed of others when done right! You should use this to show who you are and what you do. It’s a fun way to create a story about yourself in the cover photos you choose to use. Have a cute photo of something you’ve made with NutraLean? Use it! This will help define your Nutracelle consultant brand. We recommend changing your cover photo frequently, so you keep your profile fresh and interesting. You can also use pictures of your family, any cool travel destinations, you at work (From Where I Stand images would look AMAZING!), etc. Cover photo dimensions are 851 x 315 pixels. To change this photo put your cursor in the bottom, right hand corner and the Add/Change Cover Photo Box will appear. So, you’ll click Add a Cover, click Choose Photos or Upload Photo, and add your photo. Not fond of the position? You can drag the photo to reposition it. When you’re done and happy with your photo, click Save Changes.
Quick Tip: It’s a good idea to have fun with your cover photo! Change it to go with the holidays, seasons, or events. By changing your photo frequently you also encourage engagement and create exposure. It also keeps your profile in the newsfeed of others when done right!

Activity Log • This is the section where you can see every Facebook interaction you have had, whether it’s something you have liked, commented on, posted and so on.
Notifications • This is easy! The notifications tab is letting you know if someone has commented on, liked or shared your information, or something you have liked, or commented on. You’ll see who’s engaging with you here!
Your Timeline View • This links shows you YOUR OWN PROFILE (also known as your wall!) It’s not your newsfeed because it consists of all your posts that you’ve shared. Everything on your wall is on the Newsfeed of others and vice versa.
Your Newsfeed View • This is the place where you can endlessly scroll and read all about everything your friends have posted without going directly to their profile.
Settings and Privacy • This is the section where you can set things up as you want them. We recommend having open settings, as you will be using your personal profile to help grow your business. You CAN set different albums to different privacy settings.
Your ABOUT Section • This is where your most important pieces of information lives and you want to REALLY think this through and set this up for maximum success. Click on Update Info underneath your cover photo, and it will tell you all of the areas that need to be completed. Keep in mind that this area is important because it will give people a sense about who you are.
Work and Education • This section allows you to show off your job history and allow people from your present and past to locate you. If we teach you to enough tips to take advantage of social media soon it will be easy to ensure that people are interested. They will find your profile and business page and contact you. What an easy and amazing way to conduct business!
Keep in mind that you do not have to fill in all of the blanks and you can choose what is important to you.
All About You We recommend taking some time to really fill out the About You area. We recommend taking some time to really fill out the About You area. This is where you will have the chance to sell yourself and help others develop an interest in your and what you do. Think about what your brand message is and what you want to convey? Remember this is your personal About Me, so don’t make it a blatant sales pitch. Think of who your target audience is and who you want to attract and then cater your section to that audience. We know that there is nothing more annoying than a spammy marketer, and that will turn people off who might otherwise be a perfect candidate for your business. Also, you should know that you can easily get blocked from the newsfeed of your friends if you over do it on business stuff. The last thing you want potential consultants thinking is - “Wow! Nutracelle might really be awesome, but if it means I have to constantly advertise, post product pictures or selling, then maybe it’s not for me.” Think about this seriously! You can totally post your birthday because you’ll get many birthday wishes and it’s a great way to interact with everyone. We don’t recommend posting the year you were born, just in case of identity theft.
Your Basic and Other Information – We recommend taking some time to fill in this information, too. People who become interested in you as you develop your presence, awareness, brand and message will take the time to look this over. It’s amazing the conversations you can start about favorite movies; music, books, interests and activities. Because we aren’t meeting people face to face in the beginning (before tasting parties!), this is their glimpse into who we are as people outside of business. Plus, it’ll give you EXCELLENT ways to converse at your own tasting party.
Your contact information – This section is also SUPER important, as it is where you let people know how to contact you. We encourage you to include an email address; phone number and up to two websites, maximum. You may want to use leave the email address non visible to avoid spam. Or, you can create an e-mail specifically for your Nutracelle consulting, and also include a link to your business site where your contact information also lives. We recommend no more than two websites because if you have too many, you’ll look like you’re a restless business owner. WHERE do you want to focus people? Obviously, on your Nutracelle site. So, list your most important site first and whatever other sites after. Do you have a blog? Link it after your business site, if it will help build your brand. Tip: Do you want to see how your Timeline appears to a potential client? Return to your Timeline, open the Tools menu by clicking the button with the gear icon on it next to the Activity Log button, click View As, and it will show you what others see!
Followers – This is a really cool feature that allows others, besides friends, to subscribe to your updates. Excellent for creating a brand presence! The way Followers works is any and all Facebook users can sign up to get the PUBLIC posts in their News Feed of any user who has enabled Subscribe. NOTE: Subscribe is optional. To enable Subscribe, if you haven’t already and would like to, go to the account settings and you’ll find Subscribe. We highly recommend enabling Subscribe so that you can expand your reach! It’s great once you exceed 5000 friends! You will be able to limit your actual friends, but allow others to see what you are up to!
Post a Current or Past Event to Your Facebook Timeline Post a Current or Past Event to Your Facebook Timeline - Chances are (if you just signed up!) that you have a huge gap in your Timeline between when you were born and now, right? To fill that gap, you can post past events to your Timeline, such as anniversaries, your first day with NutraLean, your first tasting party, and any other events you want to share with the public. Keep in mind that these create more of a sense about who you are, and that you are also using this for business. So mix the two! Need to know how to post a past or current event to your Timeline? Use the Timeline Publisher! Click Life Event as you are in the edit section of About, and click the general type of event you want to add (Family & Relationships, Health & Wellness, Home & Living, Travel & Experiences, and Work & Education). Enter the requested details, especially the date on which the event occurred. You can also choose to make the event public, allow only your friends to see it, or enter custom settings to control who can view the event. When you’re finished, click Save! Who can view the event. When you’re finished, click Save!
Select Local Business
Your Facebook Business Timeline Also called Brand/Fan Pages So, you have a personal Timeline, now let’s have a Facebook business timeline, too! Here is why a business Facebook timeline is so important. Want to know something cool? People CAN find your Business Timeline on Google! As we’ve mentioned before, you will have three opportunities to connect with people - your friends, your followers and your business page followers. We’ll be referring to this as the Brand Timeline from here on out, just to keep it simple, but know that Facebook Business/Fan Page/Timeline and Facebook Brand Timeline refer to the same thing. Once you have built a Brand Timeline, you CAN link it to your Personal Profile and make it your primary employer/business. When you are completing your About Me section, you can add your Brand Timeline. Just click About and then start typing the name of your Brand Timeline in the box that says “Where have you worked...” as shown below. It should highlight, you click it and fill in the details! Select Create Page
There are a few factors of importance to consider when naming your brand timeline. This is getting your “Custom URL”: You’ll want to decide if you want to use the name of your business, brand, or possibly your personal name. Go to: facebook.com/customurl and get the name you want. Learn more about usernames here: https://www.facebook.com/help/329992603752372 After some research, it seems you can change your Brand Timeline name once, and ONLY once, so you want to be sure on what you want to name it so you don’t have to start over. Using your personal name would be a good place to start, “Nutracelle by _____”. This is the name you are known by and branded under, so it would be a good idea. Remember, Google and the search engines do search, find and rank Facebook Brand Timelines, so this can be a good move for you. Think about the keywords someone might use to find your business when they go to Google to search and use some of those in your name, possibly! When you set your page up using keywords, you are doing a great thing from the beginning to get your page found and indexed by Google. And, you provide a description, to some extent, for your visitors so they can easily identify who and what your page does. Let’s talk about the specifics of setting your Brand Timeline up correctly and for the most effective use! We’ve added pictures below and we’ve highlighted the text below that correlates to the photo.
Here is a sample Facebook Brand Timeline :

Cover Photo
Important About Section
The cover photo should be done in the same dimensions – 851 wide x 315 height in pixels. Facebook recently made changes that allow you to add text, calls to action, website links and details about your business to the cover photo! Yay! You may want to have someone professionally develop a cover photo for your page, or post a picture that captures the essence of Nutracelle and how it offers a welcome message. Use the same guidelines as your personal profile and keep your cover photo updated! You will still need a profile picture. Sizes for that are 180 x 180 pixels. You can see how on our page, right under the cover photo. While you can still have numerous custom apps installed to your Facebook Page, you can only designate a couple as favourites. These are the apps that will show up underneath your header image and to the right. To access additional applications, visitors will have to click the downward-pointing arrow to the right of your favorite apps. Additionally, apps now have their own icons, so you can customize each app with its own 111 pixel by 74 pixel image. You can get really creative in how you use these tabs, using photos or text as a call to action for your visitor. The size of the images for this is 111 x 74. There is a Message feature that allows your fans to send you a message, and we recommend that you use it! It can be a great tool for engaging with people! You control this in the admin panel of the page. The ABOUT section is very important and you’ll want to lead into it with a URL to your business site so people can easily see where to click to learn more OFF of Facebook. Use this space wisely for MAXIMUM exposure. And, the Highlights area is where you can add important events in the life of your business and brand. Perhaps when you became a consultant, photos that had not been uploaded before, recipes you’ve tried, tasting parties, etc. Think out your strategy here!
The Pin Feature There is a feature that allows you to make a specific post on your page appear at the top, and that is the “pin” feature. We LOVE this feature! The pin feature allows the post to stay at the top of the page for 7 days. That pinned post will remain at the top of your Timeline. This pinned post can be whatever you’d like it to be — a big announcement (you’ve reached your goal weight!), the photo (or quote!) of the week, even a fan spotlight. You can also use this pinned post to promote your custom apps. So create updates like, “Are you coming to my tasting party?” Then link directly to the app itself. Remember that these pinned posts will be unpinned after a week, so be thinking of fresh, engaging ways to direct traffic to your apps.
The admin panel automatically shows up at the top of your Brand Timeline. Check out: Publishing Tools – You can also Build Your Audience through creating an ad, or scheduing posts to your page, and sharing it on your own timeline.
Notifications – Same as with your personal profile! This section lets you see quickly at a glance what’s current and happening on your page. Who has posted on the wall, comments, etc. Check in here several times daily so you can engage and interact!
Messages – This feature allows your potential clients to communicate with you privately. You cannot start a message thread but you can respond. And check it regularly!
Insights – This gives you analytics about your page interaction. Once your timeline is really up and going, this is very helpful to see who you are reaching and what people are responding to!
Okay, now that we have the basic housekeeping stuff set up, let’s get down to business! Literally!
Facebook Marketing Overview The ultimate way to sponsor others in the age of Social Media, and starting with Facebook, is to begin to develop a large following of friends, would be friends and turn them into potential and active clients or consultants. You start this process by building a relationship with them, based on trust, common interests, and a general feeling that they know you, and can relate to you. It takes time to have success, but what doesn’t? Don’t skip steps and short cut things. Don’t blatantly pitch your business 24/7. Be subtle, have class and integrity and know when to reach out to people directly. You need to build a relationship with your followers. So you should be posting great content that includes photos of you, your lifestyle with Nutracelle, your family and Nutracelle, your sense of humor and your positive thoughts and feelings. All these things build relationships of trust! We’re going to train you first on how to create engagement; make friends and some dos and don’ts and then we will get into how to reach out and invite people to take a look at your business. There is a VERY specific way to do this, so don’t skip the important steps to build trust FIRST! The ratio of personal posts to business and invitation posts should be at least a 5 to 1. By that we mean, you should post at least 5 personal things on your PERSONAL TIMELINE before you post an invitation to your BUSINESS TIMELINE. And, make sure you pay attention and reach out via private message when the time is right. More on that later!
Pictures For Personal and Business Timelines Pictures Paint a Thousand Words Again, as a social interaction place, you can create strong relationships by letting others have some insight into your REAL life; not just your cyber life! You can create photo albums and we encourage you to do so. Pictures ALWAYS get more looks, likes and comments than anything else, currently 53% more likes than just a post or quote! Try it and see for yourself, or think about the things you look at and comment on! We like to adopt a “1/3 theory” - keeping things 1/3 business; 1/3 social and 1/3 personal. This creates a well-rounded brand, and person. You might want to create a photo album for your Nutracelle page; special webinar training events you’ve attended; tasting parties you hosted, etc. Vacation and holiday albums are for personal and social, as well as hobby interests for social – like cooking; yoga; etc.
So,let’s discuss each of these categories and you can get an idea of how to use these.
Business pictures – These pictures can create interest in what you do in a variety of ways. Many people love to travel and so showing pictures of you traveling for business can be a real point of interest and connection. Showing the fun that you have in being a part of Nutracelle can as well.Showing pictures of events that occur because of Nutracelle (webinars, tasting parties, etc.) can create interest. People like to engage and do business where there is fun! Since you are in Direct Sales, pictures of you with other consultants you’ve had sign up, top leaders, speakers, Melanie, etc. can go a long way to create interest in what you do. Especially the fun pictures! Like, candids! Business should be fun; so show people the fun side of it. This also brands you as a serious Nutracelle consultant. You are willing to invest time and money into your business and potential clients can count on this side of you.
Social Pictures – These are the pictures that you can take while you are out and about and share either by uploading later or uploading through your cellphone. Snap pictures of lifestyle items that you enjoy (cooking, date night, motivation) because these lifestyle items might be of interest to others.
Personal Pictures – On your personal profile, you’re bound to have personal photos. They could be anything from a family vacation to special event, etc. Sharing your personal photos from your profile onto your business profile will demonstrate the personal side of your business.
Quotes and Inspirational Pictures – Did you know that pictures with quotes or inspiring pictures can get up to 75% more interaction than any other status updates?! Do THIS!
Tip: We recommend using your best judgment and consider adopting our principle – if you wouldn’t want your mom or children to see it (or become a meme!), then don’t post it! Friendly reminder: Things that happen online stay on online; whether, it’s on Facebook, YouTube, InstaGram, or Twitter. We want you to be careful with your reputation and our brand!
Friends -Finding and Making Relationships & Keeping it Real Remember that Social Media Marketing is all about creating and building relationships and finding and making friends is where this starts. Through Facebook, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with friends from every point in your life (your childhood, high school, college, previous employment) and additionally within your local community and region. One thing we want to stress right from the very beginning is that Facebook Friends are about quality not quantity. What is the point in having 3,000 friends who don’t know you, and don’t really care about your message or share common interests with you? You want potential clients that will interact with you. Don’t make the mistake in the beginning to focus on quantity.
The Power in Friends & Relationships Finding Current Friends – Start with people you REALLY know first. Write out a list and then get busy! You can use several different features to find friends who you already know. When you go to your Facebook home page, you'll see the FRIENDS link on the main navigation bar, center, under your cover photo.
Click on that and you’ll see your friend requests, as well as the “Find Friends” link to the right, as highlighted by the red arrow. You’ll also see “Search for Friends.” When you click Find Friends, you will see Friend Suggestions, Friends you have requested, and also People You May Know. When you use the Search Box Feature, start typing a name or email address in the box and Facebook will try to locate people for you. Once located, Facebook will show you a limited amount of information about that person, based on what each individual person wants to make public. Once you determine that it is someone you want to be friends with, you can click the Add As Friend button at the top of their profile.
You can then send a personal message, and we strongly encourage you to always send a personal message, even if you think the person knows or remembers you. This is even more important when you are making friend requests of people who you don’t really know but want to connect and network with. You should NOT send more than about five to ten Friend Requests a day or you may end up on a limit because Facebook thinks you’re spamming. Make sure you’ve engaged with people in Facebook Groups or Pages before Friend Requesting and send that personal message so they know why you are requesting. Once you click SEND Request, that person will be notified and can decide to accept or not. Again, this is where a personal message can help a lot, just in case he or she does not recognize you right away.
Making New Friends & Keeping it Real As you work your way around Facebook, joining and engaging in Groups and Pages/Brand Timelines that fit your target audience you will find others who share common interests with you and you’ll begin to make friend requests of people you may not know so well. This is where it becomes so important to use the message feature, sending the message FIRST and just say something like –
“Hi Lissa! I see you are also friends with Becky and we share a lot in common. I would love to connect with you on Facebook! May I have permission to send you a friend request? Thanks so much!” Sending a message takes just a few minutes but it goes a long way toward establishing and building relationships! That is what this is all about. You’ll develop stronger bonds and a faster potential for business when you start the right way from the beginning! Once you have found and made a few friends, you can then look at their friends and often find mutual friends who you can then contact. Use this responsibly and don’t spam people! After someone accepts your friend request, you’ll be notified and you’ll probably want to acknowledge their acceptance. We recommend a simple post on their wall or a pleasant comment on their picture! Keep it very light, no links or pitching. You could always look at their profile so you know something about them and make a comment appropriately. “Thanks for accepting my request! Looks like you had a killer workout! I look forward to connecting!” Another example is, “Hi Val! I see we are both in PEI. Hope you are enjoying the above freezing weather!” A huge benefit would be saying something that can create some mutual interest on both sides. Remember, we are networking online! Then, set a goal to stop off and say hello and make some comment to a certain number of friends each day. This will be part of your daily Social Media Strategy. Each time you click on your timeline, your list of friends shows up and Facebook randomly shows you people. Click on a few and say hello on their wall. Again, you shouldn’t post any business links or mention your business at first. This is just being social. Also, you can include a subtle request for friends in your own status updates in Groups and on Pages that you frequent! It’s an amazing way to connect rather quickly. Say something like, “I love Friend Requests; Hit me up if you want to connect!” There is a possibility that you may get A LOT of requests, so be ready! We suggest posting in groups that you share common interests in, like networking and work at home groups. Make an attempt to get to KNOW your “random friends.” Send a personal message! Ask questions and ask permission to keep in touch. Do NOT mention your business unless they ask what you do, and then keep it very general and don’t launch into a long dialogue about how great the products! Have a simple, 2-3 sentence paragraph that describes WHAT you do and why, but don’t go into too much detail about Nutracelle, at first. Think of this like a teaser. An example of this would be – “I am a consultant for a small business who wants real people to be able to have the
freedom and flexibility to create a successful business on their own terms.” Snail mail may be old fashioned, but you can always send e-cards! E-Mail birthday cards, holiday cards and congratulations/ event cards to your friends as things happen. That is how you become unforgettable and known to your friends, both real friends and those who you’ve never met except through Facebook. Want to send a potential client a protein treat for their birthday? Send a private message asking for a mailing address to send them something for their birthday! You get the idea. This could easily become your one-way ticket for gaining clients and creating a memorable impression. Over time, you’ll get into a pattern with making and keeping friends. And, your presence and influence online will spread if you do it right!
More On Building Relationships in Social Media As we’ve mentioned before, one of the most important pieces to building a solid, successful online business is creating and expanding your relationships with others. Effectively engaging in business through online sites and methods is still all about building relationships. It’s about engaging, getting social and getting to know each other. This establishes trust and compatibility. It’s not about blatant advertising or pushing Nutracelle. Lead with yourself and build a presence; brand; message and following. This style of business building, often called “Attraction Marketing,” is really about being authentic and real to your audience. You offer value first, and not pitching or speaking about your opportunity until they ask! Give to get! That is the philosophy. Be patient!
Friendly
Reminder:
Watch how many people breeze onto Facebook and other forums and loudly “broadcast” their opportunity. It turns off the very people they want to attract! If you wouldn’t walk into a tasting party doing it; don’t do it online either. Set yourself apart from so many other network marketers who are embarrassing the rest of us by spamming and blasting other people.
People will become interested in your business after they become interested in you. That is where having the personal profile to lead them back to as they get to know you is very important. Try to picture yourself walking into a party when you log on to Facebook. You may know one or two people, but that’s it. So, walk in with the intention of meeting lots of new people and expanding your horizons. Just as you would not walk into a party flashing a neon sign that says “Ask me about my business!” you don’t want to do this online either. Leave your business in the background on your personal profile and wait for the right time and place. When you enter into a community or a friendship online always be thinking about how you can add value; resist the temptation to think about yourself or what might be in it for you. Ask questions; offer ideas and advice to those struggling; share your personal stories and what has helped you. Did you read a great article online? Post the link so others can also learn. Saw a great motivational quote? Share it.
We believe that if you solve a problem for someone, they will remember you for life. And, in turn, will want to know more about you. Your actions and the information you deliver are all part of creating awareness about yourself; developing your brand and what you want to be known for and the message that you deliver at all times. Make this an extension of your offline, authentic self. Think of people who you already know of online in your profession. What are the first things that come to mind when you think of them? How have they branded themselves through the messages they deliver? The people who follow you will be those who match with your brand and your message.; people who are looking for what it is you deliver. Be consistent in that delivery. That is key to developing interest in knowing more about you for some people. In most cases, the link to your Facebook profile or personal website is included so people always have the opportunity to learn more about you and as you become known, more people will click to your page. Gain trust with other readers and visitors by being authentic, honest and transparent.
Build a presence and through that presence, you will build a following. Be consistent; be a contributor. Set yourself apart from many of the others who show up. The relationship starts or picks up on a social site, and from there you get them back to your business site where you can begin to develop rapport.
SHARE YOUR
SAMPLES
Now it’s time to drop off your samples. Be friendly and excited – and if you have brochures about Nutracelle and your card, make sure to include them. When you drop them off, try not to sell Nutracelle – instead tell them how excited you are for them to taste it and how much you know they will LOVE it! You will follow up with them the next day to see how they loved it and to sign them up. Of course, if they want to sign up right away – make sure you help walk them through it! A great Example here: One of our consultants Jennifer posted on her wall, letting people know she would send them a sample from her personal product and she had 29 people request samples within the hour!
Status Updates – Personal Timeline You want to set a goal as part of your daily strategy to update your status a few times a day. Like other areas of social media marketing, we suggest keeping your personal profile 1/3 business; 1/3 social; 1/3 personal. Or the 80/20 rule - 80% personal/social; 20% business! You may get up in the morning and post an update about your workout plan, and ask about other’s daily plans or that you’re spending the morning researching fun new recipes. This is a great way to start your day. It’s like saying good morning to everyone. As the day moves along, you may share some details about what you are working on for your Nutracelle business – parties you are planning, webinar training you are registering for, new ways to use your protein, etc. And, you may also share a recipe you are making for dinner that night or a link to an awesome blog, etc. We like to post lots of pictures and quotes turned into pictures. Remember! 53% more likes on photos! Do you see the 1/3 business; social; personal pattern here? Share things about yourself; and your day without becoming too personal; but rather engaging. Over time, you’ll notice people commenting on your status updates and you’ll want to jump in and comment back. This is how you truly begin to interact with others. The more comments and activity that are generated, the more it ranks in the News Feed of your contacts, making it visible to more. More on this later… just remember it! Avoid being too mundane or personal. No one needs to know that you are fighting with your spouse, kids or friends or that you are changing the sheets, etc. Keep it on subjects that others will find useful, of interest and worth commenting and engaging on. At the same time, you can share updates that intrigue others about your business without pushing it in their face. Promote the accomplishments of others that use Nutracelle and people will become curious. To create more interest, leave out Nutracelle’s name and someone is bound to comment asking how this person reached their goal weight. And BOOM! Access to talk about your business.

TIPS
people who are in yourpersonal life! 4 Business Posts – These posts should be related to Nutracelle and can include recognition for team members, celebrating successes and stories of people using Nutracelle! Remember to include some photos! 1 Power Post – This is a weekly post that is really focused on the Nutracelle business, opportunity and what it provides to you!
Example 1
Seem a little “hypey” to you? What do you bet this person is NOT making that kind of money? No Likes or comments!
Example 3
If you even have to mention that it might be perceived as “arrogant” - it likely will be! Remember - “best” is relevant and in the eye of the beholder!
Example 2
The following photos are not meant to pick on any company, just examples of overkill:
Here is an example of the types of continuous business posting that will get you UnFriended and/or blocked in the newsfeed of the very people you might be wanting to attract. Doing this turns the majority of people off because they think this is what THEY will have to do if they join you in business. Don’t believe us? Test it or do a poll for yourself! Notice there are few to no likes or comments?
Example 3
Example 2
Example 1
Remember to always keep your integrity. If you have to think twice about posting it, you probably shouldn’t. This most often involves politics or religion, or any other potentially taboo subject. While most of us have opinions in all areas, we think it’s best to save these comments and debates for your close circle of friends and nothing that is going to go public and potentially harm your business. Here are some examples of highlighting the accomplishments of other Nutracelle users, and also letting others highlight you and share your posts!
When someone reaches a goal, Share it! It’s good publicity for you, for them and for Nutracelle.
Someone else might even highlight you by sharing something you’ve posted!
Share events that will help your Business.
We hope this gives you some ideas on how to work your status updates effectively so you keep your friends, intrigue them, and don’t end up blocked.
Status Updates – Business Page When posting on your Business Page, you’ll want to make about 80% of your content related to your business, Nutracelle, and items that your audience will find useful, and want to engage in conversation about. This establishes you as an “expert” in your field and someone they can rely on. It’s a great idea to post information by other consultants, as well. This shows you as genuinely interested in your customers and clients best interest. Keep your brand and culture in mind in your updates. Keep that theme strong. Photos and videos go a long way to enhancing your brand and establishing trust. The exciting thing about a Business Page is that it is a great place to really engage with your customers and clients, while promoting subtly, your business. Want to find out what they think of something you offer? Like a product, recipe, etc.? Post a poll! And, be ready for the good and the bad. How you react to anything less than positive can go a long way in boosting your popularity and securing loyalty! No one’s business is perfect, and giving your customers, clients and potential business prospects the space to share their ideas and thoughts is empowering and gets them involved; it gives them a sense of “ownership” in the process. Yes, there may be times you have to reel things in. You may get the occasional bad egg who wants to just complain, and even that can work in your favor when handled with grace and poise! Ask your fans what they would like to see from you, your business and Nutracelle. You never know what might show up. Create contests for protein treats and create a sense of community! Use your page to schedule regular tasting parties. It shows up on your calendar as well as in the highlights area of your brand timeline. You can gain limitless free exposure for your business by developing a strategic plan. You can offer a discussion forum that can serve as a great environment to mix, mingle exchange ideas and create interest around Nutracelle. Monitor this area and your page wall regularly to remove any offensive, unwanted posts. These do occasionally crop up. Just be aware, be there frequently and take care of it. Use the remove button.
Here is a checklist of ideas for your Nutracelle business page: • Post an image quote • Schedule a tasting party or share a Webinar or event • Share a blog post • Share a YouTube Video or Podcast • Announce any calls or guest appearances • Post a poll or survey • Post a fill in the blank question - see below • Post a “finish the question” post - see below • Highlight another consultants accomplishments? Did they get their 3 for Free? AWESOME! • Share a link or video from someone else – Another Consultant, Melanie, or WLF! • Share something funny from real life that relates to business! Shaker rack anyone?!
Fill In The Blank Question Ideas “My favorite way to use my Vanilla NutraLean is .” Then, post what yours is and invite others to share. Finish the question is similar, but something like - “My biggest question about Nutracelle is _______?” Share quotes, videos and pictures that engage. Ask questions. Here are just 5 examples and you can come up with a lot more just brainstorming it. My favorite recipe from my Protein Treats is . My #1 Goal is ______ what is yours? My most creative/productive time of the day is ______ what's yours? If you could taste one recipe at my tasting party it would be _____!
Scrolling Real Time Newsfeed
Creating Community & Socializing It’s called “Social Networking” because people love engaging through Facebook. Statistics show that people are cutting back on their evening TV time to interact more on Facebook and other social media sites. You could spend time sitting with your family as they watch TV with your laptop connecting with people; commenting on status updates; sharing fun YouTube videos; etc. We really want to encourage you to spend plenty of time being social and engaging with others! You should give them plenty of opportunities to see the personal and business sides of you. Visit your News Feed and see what people are sharing. You can also use the scrolling newsfeed (Example shown above) to engage with people in REAL TIME. Comment on the status updates of others that you find interesting. But remember to avoid taboo subjects, it’s safer in the long run. You should know that there are many Games such as Farmville; Mafia Wars; Café World, Zoo World, Bubble Safari and others. While these can be engaging and create their own community, most people who are on Facebook for business frown upon these. They don't take those people engaged in these activities as serious business people. There have been dozens of polls; newsfeed exchanges and dialogue repeatedly on this and the best advice we can give you is decide what is more important to you – these games or connecting with a potential clients. There isn't a right or wrong, just be aware of the thoughts and opinions surrounding this. Keep in mind that Facebook picks and chooses what shows up by default in your newsfeed based on who/what you frequently interact with.
Creating Friends Lists A feature few people use is the “Lists” feature for your Friends. You can categorize your Friends into lists, and then it is much easier to check in, as well as make custom status updates that can only be seen by the friends/lists who you want to see it. This is one way you can post business information and not have all of your friends who are not interested see it. We do encourage your to post some business information in the public newsfeed from time to time so you DO catch those who are looking, and you may not know they are looking. We have found PLENTY of consultants this way. If you have a few hours, spend them sorting ALL of your friends into lists. It will be SO worth it. Once you create lists, you can add people in as you accept their friend requests. Start by clicking the FRIENDS link to the left in your newsfeed or Home Link. Once you have done that Your friends will show up and a link at the top to Create List. You may already see some pre-set lists based on common interests such as your high school, college, previous employers, pages you like, etc. Create lists as you want them and then you can go in and add your friends to lists. They can be added to more than one list. Click on Friends
Now, as you are interacting on Facebook, you can Check In on your newsfeed and interact! Then go into each of the Friend’s lists just by clicking on them off to the left on your newsfeed, or by clicking on friends, in the photo above this one, and clicking each list. Scroll through and stay connected with more than just what Facebook wants you to see! When making Status updates you ONLY want certain lists to see, you can customize it. Let’s say you are sharing details on an event that is only in your local area. You don’t need all of your friends outside of your geographic area to see it and clutter their feed, right? So, you make the status update and then click the icon right next to post as shown in the photo below (it will probably show Public when you first go to click it!).It will open up a box as shown below, so you will begin typing in the names or friends and/or Lists you want to see it. Or, you can select lists/names you don’t want to see it. Now, when you save the changes and click POST, it will only show in the newsfeed of those who you have selected, either personally or by Friend List (or excluded!).Make sure you change it back to public before your next post, or it will stay in the custom setting.
Groups & Business Timelines (pages) Groups and Business Timelines are another great way to create community; make contacts; build relationships and establish your presence, brand, and message. We encourage you to use Groups and Business Timelines (Pages) as a big part of your networking strategy on Facebook. This is where you can establish yourself as someone worth knowing, networking with and developing a relationship with if you are consistent! The Groups and Business Timelines section is where you can really begin to use Facebook as a business-networking platform. Now remember, business networking is NOT about blatantly advertising Nutracelle. It is about developing contacts and relationships that can help you increase your business, expand your circle of influence and serve yourself through offering value. Networking is about being a leader of influence through sharing your expertise and truly engaging with the others. It’s easy to do this offline at a tasting party, but it can be difficult to do online, where you aren’t really face-to-face. But remember, your interactions are speaking for you all of the time. Your presence online through the written word and how you present yourself is probably more important online, where it is left to the reader to determine tone and intent. You can easily find places where your target market is going to be by finding groups and pages that fit your profile. You can join groups related to home business like Network Marketing, Party Plan, Cooking, Health and Exercise, Weight Loss, Protein, etc. You name it and there are thousands of groups on Facebook dedicated to that topic. Networking for business growth online (and offline) takes time, patience and consistency, so be prepared to get involved! Good networkers don’t need to do much selling because people will come to you already interested just by who you are in your interactions.
So, let’s get busy! You can use the Search Box at the top of the page to type in keywords related to what you are seeking. Type in Direct Sales and you’ll get a variety of listings. Look to the left and you can choose what you want specifically – People, Brand Timelines (Pages), Groups, etc. Click on Groups and you’ll see thousands. You’ll want to go through and determine what you want and where you want to get involved. You’ll want to determine for yourself what your goals are and choose some groups accordingly. Don’t be afraid to have a few hobby groups too. Maybe you are a planning addict; there are groups devoted to planning. You never know who you might build a relationship with! Just make sure they are groups where people are truly interacting so that your time is well spent. A group with 1 million members, but no updates or interaction is worthless.
Criteria for
Choosing Groups
1. How many members? See the picture above. 2. How active? Are there frequent updates and interactions? 3. Is it just a Spam Fest or does the group owner keep blatant advertising eliminated?
Since interacting in groups is going to be part of your daily and weekly social media marketing strategy, you'll want to make sure you are spending your time wisely. And, don't go overboard with Groups or Brand Timelines (Pages). Choose 3 - 5 to begin with and make sure you are being consistent. There is no way you can be actively involved in 400 or so groups or pages, so what's the point of being a member? You may want to watch the posts at first and get a feel for the group members and culture before you jump in and start posting. And, there are usually only a small percentage who participate, and a larger group who just reads and takes it all in. Often, it’s the lurkers who will contact you to further the relationship as they watch you and attract to your brand! Business Timelines (pages) on Facebook are a little like having your own retail space that is specifically for engaging others in you and your brand/company, etc. Isn’t that AWESOME?! Besides creating your own Business Timeline, which we've covered, you will want to join the Business Timelines (pages) of others who share your common interest; target market; and topics that you can engage in. On both Business Timelines (pages) and groups, you can jump into conversations already started as well as start a conversation. Make sure the topic is relevant and will create ongoing dialogue that engages others to get involved. Again, make it part of your daily strategy to keep current with topics and discussions so you can build your Nutracelle brand and presence among these groups. Groups and Business Timelines (pages) are a great place to find friends for your profile also. These would be people who share common interests and might be good to connect with. One Piece Of Advice – don’t do it if you can't be consistently creating content and promoting it because it won’t be successful without it. Evaluate your time and readiness before creating a group or page. You can do a lot with just your profile and joining the groups and pages of others, so don't feel like you are missing the boat if you don't get started with one right away. Tip: Right click on a Group Link or Business Timeline (pages) that you want to visit/post in and open it in a new browser window so you can post updates. Close it, and then go on down the list, doing the same thing from the original window. This is a nice time saver if you have a number of groups or timelines to interact on!

Using Your Own Business Timeline (page) to Interact This is an important strategy to use to engage others and get them back to your Business Page. At the top of your page and to the right, click on the little down arrow you can select to “Use Facebook as…” You can interact as your business or your personal profile. When you are interacting on other Business Timelines (Pages) it can be a very effective strategy to post as your Business Page. When you are interacting and creating value and content, people will naturally click on your name to find out more about you. By switching over and using your Business Page, you will bring people back there, and begin to engage them around your business. When you interact as your brand, it also puts it into the newsfeed of Business Timeline fans, and chances are that they will come back to your timeline and interact. Your goal is to always draw people back to your Business Timeline (page). Bringing them in once to “like” the page is one thing, but getting them to sign up and engage is another! It’s also the goal! Like anything, you want to use this with a strategy. As a Business (Brand), you can Like other Business Timelines. Feel free to switch over and use your Business Page, illustrated in the photo above, and then find other Brand Timelines of interest and Like them. Then, begin to interact on those timelines! Remember that quality over quantity.

How to Network On Facebook
Here are some steps to take as you prepare to get out there and network on Facebook
1 2
Set Networking GOALS – You have goals for your business, right? So let's set some for your networking, as well. These could include number of groups and pages you plan to truly get involved with and make the most of. Keep this number low to start! Remember, it's about the quality of connections not quantity. What type of groups and pages are you looking for? Where is your target audience most likely to hang out on Facebook? Start there.
Block Out Time in Your Calendar JUST for Networking – You would block out time for a tasting party, right? Do the same with your networking online! Remember, consistency is critical to your success. People need to get to know your face, name and the message you deliver. You must show up and engage in order to accomplish this. As you get involved, make sure your time spent is split into two categories. First, make sure you are starting conversations by asking questions that will likely provoke a response and conversation from others in the group. And second, make sure you are getting involved in the conversations that are started by others. Keep it as close as you can to what would happen in the real world. You would start and jump into conversations, right?
3 4
Determine A Profile – Who is your target audience within each area? Begin to develop relationships with those who seem to fit that profile. You can send a friend request and personal message asking questions, or visit their profile page and learn more about them through their status updates and information area. As the relationship grows, consider inviting to a tasting party!
Practice FORM on Facebook – FORM stands for Family, Occupation, Recreation and Money - what do you see other’s sharing about their lives, jobs, and where they might want to make changes? When you see something, reach out and engage, but do so over time! Don’t spam them with a link, but engage with a question instead. Here’s an example: “Hey Chris! I recently saw your status update about being 10 pounds away from your goal weight! Congratulations. I know how stubborn those last 10 pounds can be. Have you been getting your protein daily? Protein is ESSENTIAL for fat loss and muscle maintaining. I don’t know if it would be right for you, but I could tell you a little about Nutracelle? It helped me reach my goal weight in NO time!”
5
Your Business is Expanding – So, think of cities, regions and countries you want to expand into. Do a search in the Facebook Search Box and look for friends in those cities and reach out! Let them know your business is expanding in their area, and ask to connect by email or by phone. Let them know about any special referral rewards that we offer, like AutoShip and 3 for Free! This often creates interest. People love to get stuff! If they refer people to sign up, tell them about the benefits of being a Nutracelle Consultant! Here is an idea on how to contact. Let’s say you want to expand to PEI. Type Prince Edward Island into the FB search box and it usually shows you friends who are in PEI. Click on their page and look it over. Let’s say they posted something about how they’ve picked up winter weight.
”Hi Becky! How have you been? I just saw your status update on the winter weight and it made me think. I know this is out the blue…. and I am hoping you will help me! PEI is an area of important growth for my Nutracelle Consulting, for a lot of reasons. I know it may or may not interest you, but either way I would love to tell you who I am looking for in the hopes you might know someone. I know an awful lot of people there right now would love to create an income from home and not have to go out in the ridiculous weather! Would you please shoot me your cell? I’m hoping you will help me & would love to catch up with you if nothing else. 10-15 minutes is all I need, as I’m sure that’s all you have time for as well right now! Thanks and I’ll drop you another message later next week, if I don’t hear from you first.”
We hope you are beginning to get a grasp on how Facebook offers you real opportunities to meet, connect with and develop true relationships with people who can be a big part of your business building efforts, either as future consultants or a great source of referrals. Be generous with your referrals and interest in others and people will see that and gravitate toward you. If you’ve built out a power timeline that creates interest, people will click back to it and want to know more about you and who you are. Again, be patient and consistent. Just like in the offline world, it takes time for some of these relationships to grow and form into something of mutual benefit around the business side of things. Some people will never do business with you, but your association together can also create credibility and interest in others. And, often it is the people who aren’t always contributing to the conversation that you will connect with as they watch you and listen. Remember, it’s not just the ones in conversation who are paying attention to you! The quiet ones are watching and listening!
How Make a Direct Invitation On Facebook Once you’ve been on Facebook for some time and you’ve been active, engaging and sharing, you can begin to make what we call, “Direct Invitations,” as status updates. But use them sparingly! There is a VERY specific way to do this, so PLEASE follow all of the steps and don’t jump right to this, especially if you’ve not been on Facebook very long, or have not been very active. Never, never post a link to your Business Page, flat out! You want to get people asking YOU about your business and when you do it right, it creates curiosity and that’s exactly what you want. It starts conversations and creates engagement. Use an image that creates interest and gets attention, too! Do it right, and you become the hunter and not the hunted, and those in your market who are interested will contact you!
Here is an example of what NOT to do: I need your help. I’m expanding my business. I’m looking for you if: You want to work from home instead of having to drive in rush hour traffic into the “concrete jungle” every day. You’re tired of having a boss that tells you what to do, when to do it, how to do it and gets on you every time you do something that wasn’t what, when or how he liked it. You want to learn new skills and toolsets that will allow you to create an income, no matter where you live in the world. If this sounds like you, PM me and let’s have a chat!
Example 1
Here is an example of what TO do!
Are you a Mom who needs or wants to stay at home to be with and take care of your children? To not have to call in sick to attend school events? But you want to start a simple business that you can work from home, that doesn’t take too much time, that will help make some extra money to pay the bills and even splurge a little now and then? That’s great because you’re just like me! If you’d like to know how I’m making money from the comfort of my own home and am able to take care of my children, too, just private message me and I’ll tell you exactly what I’m doing.
Example 2
What if I told you, that you can start a business from home (or anywhere for that matter)! All you will need is a computer and an Internet connection. You don’t have to get on the phone with anyone, if you don’t want to. You don’t have to track anything (the system does it for you!). You can put in as many hours as you want. It only costs your monthly Autoship package amount! …and you can make at commission on all of your sales, PLUS free product if you sign up 3 consultants underneath you! This business is so easy a kid could do it. Really! If this interests you, private message me and we can chat. I’ll show you exactly what Nutracelle is and you’ll be able to decide whether it’s right for you!
So, there are some ideas on how to make a direct invitation through a status update. Key points - NEVER just post the link; you have no way of knowing who is interested. Wait for others to Private Message you, and then create some engagement, still, before you post the link! When someone responds to your invitation to look at your opportunity, do NOT immediately send that person a link. Try to engage them and tell them that it’s nice to hear from them. Feel free to ask them what motivated him or her to want to ask about this opportunity?
Engage your candidate in conversation. Do a few back and forth messages with each other BEFORE you send them your link. Establish a little bit of rapport with them first. Then, ask permission before you send the link by saying -
“I have a simple way for you to learn more. If I sent you a link to my business site, would you be able to look it over?”Wait for a response and then send the link, or whatever you’ve determined you will use to get your business in front of people. Have your plan of action in place and know what you will send specifically! Then tell them, “After you go through the everything, can we have a chat on the phone?” This is Step 2 in the relationship building process. It’s one thing to be friends on Facebook, it’s another thing to have a private message conversation. But when you speak on the phone, your relationship deepens ten fold! So make sure you ask them if you can have a conversation on the phone after they read over what Nutracelle is! TIP: Set the follow up time before you send the link and get the commitment! This is the process the professional’s use to build an organization using Social Media. It’s all about conversations and relationships. So remember, don’t just send links, spark relationship building conversations and you’ll build a solid referral list. Remember, relationships are the glue that holds businesses together.
Building a Local Team and Customer Base Through Facebook Now that you have a good understanding of how to network and engage with people through Facebook, let’s cover how to get active and develop a following in your local area, and begin to build your sign-ups. This is a powerful way to grow quickly in your local area, when you do it right. We’ve covered Groups and Business Timelines, and now what you are going to do is use these strategies to get involved locally in groups and on pages that you share interests with. Online networks are now quite mainstream! Do a personal inventory of your likes, interests and businesses in your local community. Some examples of your interests could be yoga, tasting parties, places you shop, the local gym, business networking groups, real estate agencies and agents, groups and clubs such as hiking, dancing, karate, etc. If your local paper publishes a listing of groups in the area, begin to look on Facebook and see what you can find or see if they list a Facebook link in the paper. More and more groups are beginning to do this.
Become a fan of the Business Timelines or join the Facebook groups of 5 or 6 areas of interest for you locally. Get involved actively in the newsfeed with status updates that pertain to the group. Share ideas, resources and engage with others who are active on the wall. Don’t get carried away and join too many. You’ll spread yourself too thin. Just as you can only be truly active and engaged with a small number of networking groups offline, the same is true online. Post topics that are relevant to the group or business timeline and are also in your area of expertise! Become known in the community as a friendly, reliable, authentic resource and someone that others will want to get to know. Respond to the postings of others and keep the conversation going. Give people a reason to want to connect with you offline. Even though technology makes it easy to join, there are no shortcuts to building solid relationships. Having 3,000 contacts does you no good if no one remembers your name, who you are or what you represent. Scott Ginsberg, author of The Power of Approachability says that networking is a two way street and, “It’s both -- You stepping onto someone else’s front porch and you inviting someone to step onto your front porch.” Be approachable and you will attract your target audience like a magnet, giving you the opportunity to truly network. Spend some time developing some solid relationships and then move onto taking things offline. When you meet people locally, ask if you can connect with them on Facebook. Plan events to get together from the groups at specific locations. Let people know that you own a business in the local area and you are always looking to expand your network and would love to have them over for protein coffee some time to REALLY get to know each other. Think of where you can offer referrals to others. Always start with a give-to-get philosophy and watch what happens. Make your local networking a solid part of your daily strategy and focus on quality connections. Begin to turn these into real friendships and powerful contacts in your referral network.
Videos
Video marketing is one of our favorite methods of online Social Media Marketing and the fact that you can create and upload videos to Facebook is just a big bonus! One thing we love about video marketing is that it is one medium that creates a highly engaging and interactive experience with the viewer, giving him or her the feeling of getting to know you much more than the written word can do. It’s like sitting down across the table and having a conversation. Videos capture your expression; style of speaking; tone and cadence and create the feeling of an eye-to-eye conversation. You can create amazing content, rich videos sharing your opinions and experiences on all different aspects regarding Nutracelle.
One nice thing about Video Marketing is that you can create one video and upload it to YouTube and other Video Marketing sites, you can upload it to Facebook, both your personal and brand timeline, and post it to your blog (if you have one!). It can create a lot of traffic in many different areas and all you did was take two minutes to create it and upload it!
You can create videos using your webcam recorder or upload a video you create. You can use your cell phone or purchase an HD Camera to create the video. There may be some newer better, more affordable components out there when you listen, so just Google what you are looking for.
Don’t worry about being perfect. Be prepared to shoot a few videos and even dump them after they are done. Practice makes perfect and over time, you’ll get very comfortable speaking to the camera. Once your videos are uploaded to Facebook, they are shared in the newsfeed as a status update. This allows your friends and audience to see what you’ve created. As they watch and enjoy your video, they can use the SHARE button to pass it on to their audience. Videos, when done correctly can create a strong viral following as others pass along the information.
What is tagging and why should I do it? Tagging is the application you can use on Facebook that allows you to identify friends who are in photos or videos you have uploaded, posts that you mention them in, etc. Each time you tag someone in your content area, your friend is sent a notification that they have been tagged, and it posts the information on their timeline. You are only allowed to tag those people who you are friends with on Facebook. In the screen shot below, you’ll see we “tagged” our Founder Melanie Wildman when she submitted a very cute #FromWhereIStand photo. Now, it shows in our timeline and also on hers. You can also use the Check In feature to highlight this activity and tag them. We love it when you guys Check In with us! You’ll find the Tag People In This: Photo, Video, Note, Check In feature located in each area you are working in. You can also tag friends on Facebook in Status Updates, including pages, groups and events. So, let’s say you had a great webinar with Melanie last night and you wanted to acknowledge her for what she shared, you could create a status update and use the “@” sign before you type her name in. Facebook will give you a list of your most common friends and a box where you can type in names that match the name you’ve typed in and you can select the appropriate name. This will now show up in your newsfeed as well as post the update to Melanie’s wall, as well. This allows her friends and contacts to see that you have acknowledged her. This can be beneficial in a couple of ways. First, it lets Melanie know you appreciate her. Second, it gives your contacts the chance to know about Melanie and view her profile, and perhaps decide if they want to connect and become friends. It allows Melanie’s friends to see your profile and decide the same thing.
You can also tag events (like tasting parties and webinars) and then include friends who are attending the event, and create some interest and conversation around the event. Tagging can be a very effective technique to create dialogue and interest, leading to viral marketing. You want to be sure that you know the people you are tagging and that they won’t be offended by it. You want to make sure people who are tagged in a post or some other content understand that it is about welcoming their comments and feedback on the topic. What you don’t want to do is over-tag someone’s name who you consider someone of influence, where it becomes obvious that you are looking to boost your own credibility. You never want to tag someone as part of an advertising campaign you are doing. Never tag someone in a link to your business opportunity, or anything promotional, unless that person is part of the promotion and will be okay with being tagged/mentioned as part of it. Have fun playing Tag socially. An example we use would be that we love to cook recipes from Protein Treats and have identified our “Cheaters” on Facebook. Out of context that would be odd, but who DOESN’T like to Cheat With a Protein Treat? We often share cooking ideas and recipes, so when we post a link to a new video, or create a post that has a delicious recipe, we will often tag those friends who we specifically want to have the recipe, or who we know might appreciate it because they like to cook! Or let’s say someone recommends a great restaurant to you and you visit it, take a photo and then upload it to Facebook. You might tag your friend who recommended it in the photo and let them know you patronized the restaurant and enjoyed it. This will let them know that they had an impact on you, and it will make them feel good. Keep your integrity and use common sense and you’ll be fine! And, if you are uploading any content that might be perceived as controversial or something someone else may not want to be associated with, don’t tag that person without mentioning it and asking permission. It could save a friendship. Pay attention to who Tags you, and you’ll know by the notifications you receive. Make sure if you are tagged in a Video, Post, Status Update, Photo, etc. that it is something you approve of. You can always Un-Tag yourself by visiting the link, and you’ll see a Remove Tag link next to your name. Just click it and you will be removed. And, you might let the person know by private message that you Un-Tagged yourself and why. The more people you tag, the more your page will spread. Just use the feature wisely!
Misc. Applications Birthdays – They are another good way of creating interaction, building relationships and connecting with your friends. On the right side of your Facebook home page you’ll find a listing of upcoming birthdays. You can click over to the birthday person’s profile and wish them a happy birthday. We recommend being a little more creative than just, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY.”
Your goal on Social Media is to become unforgettable, so come up with something a little more personal and unique to you. This should be part of your daily strategy! Connect Your Phone – Get updates and make updates when you’re not home! On your Facebook page and at the top right, you will see your Account tab. You can click on that to open up the Account Settings section. Here is where you can manage your account and notifications, and all types of information. Along the top tabs, you’ll see Mobile. This is where you add in your cell phone number. Follow the prompts to activate your phone so you can upload Status Updates, Videos and Photos as you are out and about. Never miss a notification! This is great for personal, social and business and can keep you engaged with your audience with just a few seconds here and there. Like anything, make sure the photos and updates are relevant and will create community interaction and sharing among others. Using the Place feature with your cell phone is a great way to create status updates and showcase your lifestyle as you are out. You can Check In and Tag yourself in specific locations/events. You may need to download Facebook’s own messaging system the “Messenger Application” to receive private messages. This is an area where many have struggled because we are so used to email and it is kind of different and much quicker. We encourage you to incorporate this as part of your strategy, checking your inbox and responding to what’s there often. You’ll often find things you won’t need such as event invitations that don’t really fit you demographically; or interest you, etc. Many people will send you a message once you accept their friend request, so you want to be responsive there. Just set it up as part of your strategy to check in and you’ll be fine.

Settings/Email Notifications/Notifications
Account Tab
As you get busier and busier on Facebook, you may find that you want to control the setting that notifies you by email, otherwise, you can be bombarded with status updates, comments and a lot of things you don’t really need to know about. Just like for your cell phone settings, you are going to log into your settings and make some modifications. On your Facebook page, at the top right, you will see your Account tab. You can click on that to open up settings. There is a tab on the right hand side to select Notifications, and this is where you can determine what you will be notified of and how to notify you – either email or cell phone text messages. Depending on your phone texting package, you may want to turn these all off, as it may get costly. We recommend being notified if someone sends you a message, adds you as friend, accepts your friend request, posts on your wall, tags you in a post, video or photo (We always like to know right away where our name is being used), and wall comments. There are others you may decide you want to be notified on. You can play around and see what fits for the volume of email and texting you want to receive and you can always go in and make changes. Also, at the top, left of your page, you’ll see the small global earth icon beside the Search box. This is where all of your notifications show up, so it’s a good idea to check that each time you log on to see where interaction is taking place and where you want to jump into the conversation. Remember, this is Social Media and the more you can keep a conversation going, without being overkill, the more people you can engage with and your ability to increase your audience and your reach will be stronger. You can control the amount of information you make available for public display on your profile. In the top right corner, click Account and you’ll see the Privacy Settings in the drop down menu. Go into your Privacy Settings and you’ll be able to set the options you are comfortable with. These will vary from individual to individual and based on your goals on Facebook as well. We recommend being pretty liberal in your settings for things such as activities, interests, work, websites, etc., because you want people to get to know a little about you before you become friends. But be private with contact information such as phone, email, etc. You’ll have to decide for yourself what you want your target audience to see. We won’t accept a friend request from someone who hides almost everything and is not someone we truly know. Wow! This is AMAZING! We have covered SO much and we’re sure your head might be spinning. Just remember to take everything one step at a time and refer back to this guide as you need to and are ready to add in more!
Designing Your Daily and Weekly Strategy This section will pull it all together! We love to coach on Social Media Marketing in 30 minutes to an hour a day, so we are going to cover those key points that you’ll want to do daily, and then hit on some key points you’ll add into your weekly marketing plan. The best way for us to do this is to share what a list of things you should do and then you can fine tune to develop your own strategy around your specific goals. Other than the first action, the rest are not always in any particular order and don’t need to be.
First thing you should do when you log on is check your own Personal Timeline and make sure nothing is posted on your wall that you don’t want there! Remember, your wall is your prime piece of real estate and the first impression most people are going to get about you is your picture, the second is what is on your wall. You wouldn’t throw your junk in someone else’s yard and so you don’t want them throwing their junk in yours! Then, you should go up to the top and click on the Friends Icon and accept/ignore friend requests that you have received. For those you accept, you should then post a hello and thanks on their wall. Remember, respect their wall – no links or anything that draws things back to you. This can be a good time to scan their friends and see if anyone might be someone of interest that you might want to request to add as a friend. If you do, remember the friend protocol and send a personal message that includes why you are requesting them as a friend. Then you should visit the birthdays/events section and send birthday wishes; respond to events, etc. Next, feel free to post a Status Update to start the day and keep your own timeline current with the date and time stamp. Remember to let people know you are active and committed to social media. Check your inbox and respond to messages! We can’t stress this enough!! Also, check your Feed, both Live and News and interact with those updates that interest you. This should serve as your most important social media task of the day. Remember to try to keep it 1/3 business, social, personal. We interact in business discussion where we can provide valuable content, share in social conversation as well as some personal. This method keeps your image real. Next you should visit your Groups and Business Timelines. Start a discussion! Contribute to ongoing discussions! It’s a good idea to both start and contribute to the conversation. Remember this develops awareness of you, distributes your message and brands you. You want people to see your picture and name and click on what you have to say because they are used to you being someone who contributes great content. In the beginning, we had a goal of adding 10 new friends a day that are in our target market. Today, our friends lists are full. You may want to do more or less, depending on your available time to get to know and interact with them. You don’t want to just add numbers. You want a quality network! Groups and Business Timelines are a good place to find people with common interests and goals. Use the message feature as you request friendships! Set a goal to interact with ten friends a day by clicking on the random friends that show up in the left side of your profile. Click to their profile and spend a minute learning a little more the newsfeed or in specific friend’s lists. Post a comment. Maybe you can comment on a yoga class they recently took, a video they uploaded or
something that they have shared in a status update. This, again, goes a long way in building that relationship and getting you known. If they don’t know you well, chances are they will click back to your profile for an update on who you are! You’ll want to incorporate these activities into several blocks of time during the day, checking News and Live feed, Friend Requests, Status Updates, and interacting with others. When you are struggling for content and updates to add, check what’s going on with trends. What recipe can you share for dinner? Did you find an uplifting video on YouTube? How about a motivating quote? Pictures? Once you get in a roll on your daily strategy, you’ll want to add in some weekly marketing goals as well. These typically include Posts, Video Uploads, or Blogging. So, this is Facebook Marketing for Business (and fun!) in a nutshell! Jump in, get involved; engage with others and you’ll love what shows up!
Our Top Tips For Building a Facebook Fan Base for Your Business Timeline When you are just getting started building your presence, you want to get some people to your business timeline, get it on their radar and start creating interest. Here are eight things to focus on, plus our bonus top tip:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
If you already have a presence established somewhere, start with that. Invite your current friends on Facebook, Twitter Followers, Email List, Blog followers, etc. Add a link to your signature file in email, etc. Add it to business cards! Consider running a contest/promotion of some kind at one of your tasting parties. The first person to refer 5 people to Like your page gets a free Protein Treats gift bag! Remember it needs to be something enticing though and not some boring prize no one cares about. Create ongoing, engaging content. Highlight blog posts and what the reader will find. Ask questions that get the fan engaged at your page. Use photos as they create more interest and engagement! Add a Facebook Like Box to your blog/website: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/like-box-for-pages/ Share the content of other consultants! YouTube Videos, Blog posts and other things that your fans will find of interest is helpful. We post TONS of inspirational pictures weekly. Consider using some inexpensive Facebook Ads. Get educated and really identify who your target audience is though to maximize that investment. Learn about Promoted Posts, Boosted Posts and Ads. Do NOT pay to get likes, promote in other ways. Update your profile picture and your cover photo when relevant to engage your audience. Post regularly. Don’t leave your page dead or questions unanswered.
Our FAVOURITE Strategy: Currently, Facebook is looking to boost revenues by encouraging you to “promote” your Business Timeline Status Updates by paying for advertising. Not everyone who has “liked or followed” your page sees your updates in their Newsfeed as Facebook picks and chooses. You can make a status update as your business Timeline and then go back to your personal profile and make a comment on the update. This will put it in your own Newsfeed and potentially create more engagement. Here is an example of what we mean: At the top, the first arrow shows how we posted a picture as “Nutracelle” which is our “Business Timeline.” Then, the second red arrow shows how Melanie commented as herself, her Personal Timeline. This put it into her own personal newsfeed, increasing the odds of it being seen by her friends and followers and increases the chances they will click, like, share and become a page fan!
Also, don’t forget our strategy a few sections back on engaging on OTHER Facebook Business Timelines as YOUR Business Timeline, instead of always using your Personal Profile. When you are interacting on other Business Timelines (Pages) it can be a very effective strategy to post as your Business Timeline (page). When you are interacting and creating value and content, people will naturally click on your name to find out more about you. By switching over and using your Business Timeline, you will bring people back there, and begin to engage them around your business.
Right now, only about 16% of your fans on Facebook will see your page updates organically unless you get a lot of people liking, commenting and sharing. This is where working both your page and your personal profile can go the furthest on making a difference!
Top Tips On Times to Post, Words to Use and Avoid and More Please remember that these are JUST guidelines and as each person and audience is different, you’ll still need to play around and see what gets the most engagement for you! Saturdays and Sundays - more likes - remember, Facebook is social and people are there on the weekends! Also, Facebook is blocked by many employers, so bear this in mind with updates.
Thursday is the lowest “Like” day. 5 pm- midnight EASTERN, is the strongest times to post. Photos get the most engagement with 53% more likes than any thing else. Quality Status Updates can get up to 15% engagement. Videos get 10% engagement and Link posts get 3%. Posts that are very long, yet interesting (700 characters), or short (30 characters) do the best. 100-350 characters do the worst, probably because Facebook people prefer photos.
Words that work well on Facebook – “I “Me,” “Us,” “We.” Facebook users spend their time telling the world about what they are up to. So, they are tolerant of others and Business Pages doing the same! Calls to Action work well. TELL people to share, ask them to like, ask for comments. Posts including the term “Like” get more likes - 50% more Experiment with different motivations to entice your readers to like your content, but don’t forget to ask them to do what you want - LIKE and Share.
Sharing peaks higher in the day than likes - 4 - 6pm Eastern is great for receiving Shares. Asking to Share not only gets more Shares, but also Likes and Comments “Share if you agree,” “Share if you can relate,” or “Share if this has happened to you.” Status updates that include a question get fewer likes and shares, but more comments, obviously. Use questions as part of an overall strategy, but don’t over use or you’ll lose interest.
Should, would, which vs. why and how - do better. Not as much thought is involved! Facebook is different with posting frequency than other social networks. Post too often and filling people’s newsfeed can lean toward Unlikes and Unfollows.
Remember your page is also competing for time and visibility with people’s friends. Facebook users are using mostly in non-business times, so people aren’t there looking for business. Business content competes with social content so MAKE. IT. COUNT! Think about the magazines on the rack at the checkout stand at the supermarket - what is the content that draws you in and makes you pick up and browse or buy? Think of this with regard to your posts and updates!
Create good content on your Blog and create Shares and Likes that way. Linguistic content increases Shares, with the highest being - sex, positive, learning, media, work, constructive, self-reference. Least number of Shares are words like – “Anxiety,” “Numbers,” and “Leisure.” Aim for an 8th grade reading level for more engagement.

Direct Sales Success Story – Melanie Wildman Shares Her Story For many years I struggled with my weight, reaching over 230 lbs before choosing weight loss surgery. I truly believe everyone comes to their own moment of truth and finds their own unique journey to a healthy lifestyle. For me, surgery was a powerful tool that allowed me to choose each day to live a healthy life I love.
I started Nutracelle, because as a Mom, I wanted protein supplements that were nut-free, glutenfree, without added sugars, fillers or chemicals. I wanted high quality, real ingredients that were safe for my kids. That's why I'm so proud of our products – they truly are the best quality there is. It was important to me that the people who use our products have an opportunity to share in the success of our company. This is why Nutracelle has chosen social marketing instead of traditional retailing, where the profits go to the stores and stay in the company. When you have an amazing experience with products you love, you want to share your results with everyone. I believe the best things in life are shared by real people talking to real people. Building your business with Nutracelle will require work and dedication just like anything else in life that is worthwhile. But with support, free training, and a team of people who believe in you - you'll have all the tools you need for success. Everything is right here for you – your own personal website, your own SMARToffice, your own complete business. You can work from home an hour or two a week, earning your own products for FREE just by signing up 3 friends on Autoship. Or you can build a revenue stream to replace your current job. The choice, the freedom and the flexibility is yours.
Welcome to the Nutracelle Team!
