T
he Canadian Sport Horse Association (CSHA) Alberta aims to capitalize on the gathering of horse fanatics during the “Masters� tournament. The 2015 Select Sale features 15 horses carefully chosen by committee at an inspection and selection in June. The committee, which included well known industry members Bob Henselwood and Connie Dorsch selected horses that will be competitive in the sport disciplines of hunter, jumper, dressage or eventing. 15 horses will be offered at live auction September 14th, 2015. Henselwood and Dorsch inspected the horses for confirmation to CSHA standards then watched all horses chute jump and perform under saddle. Henselwood, a horseman who is revered for his expertise with regards to breeding all the way through the sport to high performance horses, was pleased with the sale candidates presented.
ABOUT CSHA SELECT SALE
There is a team of veterinarians associated with the sale including Dr. Dan French, Dr. Chris Berezowski, Dr. Louise Corbeil and Dr. Chad Hewlett. Reports will be available on each horse. X-rays are available on each horse and flexions and insurance exams will be performed at the auction venue on September 14, 2015. Registered bidders may have X-rays of CSHA Alberta Select Sale horses e-mailed to their personal veterinarian.
The CSHA promotes Canadian breeders and Canadian-bred horses in sport. The Select Sale is truly a showcase of the best of breeding in Western Canada. “BOOGIE’ benefiting the Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families The motor abilities of many children with cerebral palsy are severely affected due to brain damage. Customized adaptations including special seats, side wheels, raised foot plates and specialized handlebars can help keep a special needs child balanced and in control of a bike. Adapted bicycles can be very expensive, ranging from $1200 to several thousand dollars.
KEY BENEFITS OF ADAPTIVE BIKES FOR KIDS WITH CP • Improved coordination, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness, & strength • I mproved communication between the two hemispheres of the brain • A greater level of self-confidence and a greater sense of independence • Allows children to have fun!
The full CCPA Adaptive Bike Program requires approximately $70,000 annually to support the 50+ children who apply for adaptive bike funding annually. For most of our member families, the financial cost of one of these bikes makes them unattainable. There is no government funding available to families for recreation equipment like bicycles, as there is for wheelchairs and other essential daily living devices. It is the goal of the CCPA to fund the full cost of the adapted bicycles for our members. The CCPA’s Adaptive Bike Clinic success is evident in the delighted look of pride when children with cerebral palsy are able to take part in neighborhood bike parades or just keep up with the other kids on the street. Within the Calgary community, people are realizing that with specialized equipment, even severely disabled children can have the joy and benefits of riding a bicycle.

UFTWAFFE affectionately known as “Waffle” has a fun and inquisitive character. Luftwaffe jumps with super technique and lots of air over his fences. His name translates to “Air Force” and he definitely lives up to it! Luftwaffe is a candidate for all three rings. He has ring experience this year in the hunters. He also shows enough scope in the free jumping that a move up into the jumper, equitation, and hunter derby rings is easily in his future. This well started young horse has a solid training foundation. In preparation for the sale, he is currently in a training program with an Olympic professional. LUFTWAFFE has an pedigree bloodline with the famous Hannoverian stallion GRANNUS showing twice in his bloodlines. His Sire, WH Leader brings the prolific Holsteiner, LANDADEL by LANDGRAF I into the mix. WH LEADER’s Dam, GRANDEZZA by GRANNUS is full sister to John Whitaker’s EVEREST GRANNUSCH that won the CN International Grand Prix at the Spruce Meadows Masters 1994. In 2013, he earned incredible marks, with a 79% in FEI 4 year old and 80% in the Materiale Class and he was crowned CWHBA High Point Young Horse and Materiale Champion. In 2015 PHERRARI added the 3ft 3� hunter ring to his resume. He proved that he is consistent performer and is always in the ribbons. PHERRARI’S, PANDOER comes from a long and distinguished line of international, elite jumper and dressage superstars. He is by the legendary KRACK C and carries the bloodlines of LANDGRAF I, SALUUT and RAMIRO Z. A champion himself in both the dressage and hunter rings, PANDOER has been producing champions in hunters, eventing and dressage. DHARMA is by the dressage stallion Odilon. Her bloodlines are full of super stars top and bottom. These include INSPEKTEUR, CALYPSO, AND MATTERHORN.
