Board Foot Clubs
Scott Bean (Pennsylvania) Working as a tree service for decades, Scott would save the good quality logs for sawing and now has more than 100,000 board feet in his barn to start a furniture shop in his retirement!
Dennis Hoover (Connecticut) “Very satisfying and honored to be part of the Wood-Mizer tradition. My advice is to enjoy your work, serve your customers, and make flat accurate lumber!”
Mike Buchheim (Iowa) “We wouldn't have the business we have without the Wood-Mizer saw and Wood-Mizer technical support.” Eugene Lemke (Wisconsin) “Do a good job and your name will get out to many other people.”
Robert Terwilliger (New York) Robert’s largest project is sawing lumber for building a 40' x 60' post and beam barn.
Steve Wilson (Montana) “My sawmill has been purely a hobby but it has saved me tens of thousands of dollars and given me immense satisfaction. I cannot say enough about the friendly attitude I received from Wood-Mizer technicians.” Charles Greene (New York) “The Wood-Mizer brand has helped me establish a very successful business that I don't think would've been possible with other brands on the market.”
In the early 1980s, Wood-Mizer established the One Million Board Foot Club for sawyers who had successfully cut 1,000,000 board feet of lumber on their Wood-Mizer sawmills. Please join us in welcoming the newest members to this elite group of sawyers.
Matt Miller (Ohio) A Wood-Mizer owner since 2005, Matt has sawed more than 1,000,000 board feet of lumber with his LT40 hydraulic sawmill.
Thomas Schrank (Indiana) On his 5th Wood-Mizer LT40 hydraulic sawmill, Thomas reached the milestone by sawing lumber for barns and fences while keeping his customers happy.
Join us in welcoming the newest members of the One Hundred Thousand Board Foot Club. Congratulations to all the sawyers who have reached this outstanding sawing achievement.

By Chase Warner I n southeastern New York State, The Mount Academy Christian highschool wanted to build an observation tower that overlooked the scenic Catskill Mountains while supporting their outdoor construction and woodworking classes. At The Mount Academy, students have the opportunity to build outdoor structures such as lean-tos, gazebos, and pavilions using traditional construction methods such as timber framing. Although the school has built many structures over the years, the timber framed observation tower was one of the largest projects taken on by the students.

Clem Robertshaw, an instructor at The Mount Academy, designed the 50' observation tower with a 18' square base and created the cut list for a local sawyer. Wood-Mizer portable sawmill owner, Milo Scott, was contacted by the school and helped by milling 6,000 board feet of white oak and pine needed for the tower. “I cut almost all of the lumber on my LT40 and donated it,” said Milo.
After the materials were cut, the students worked diligently for one year to prepare and assemble the stunning observation tower completely using wooden pegs with timber frame construction. “People love seeing the tower going up, also because it’s a great educational opportunity for the students,” said Milo. “It is truly an amazing structure that is very beautiful, sturdy, and built to last for decades. Without our Wood-Mizer, this project would never have been started.”
“W e built a two-story barn in 1990 with 80% of the lumber milled on our LT40. In 2016 we began expanding and remodeling the barn to become a community recreation space in response to the ever-expanding opioid crises in our area. Applying solar panel technology, solar evacuated tube technology and reflective mirrored film we have created one of the world’s most energy efficient recreation facilities. In the late 80s we had the privilege of receiving a Wood-Mizer LT40 mill. The mill has performed flawlessly over three decades and continues to give us the ability to expand the facilities in our community and help families in the region. I could not say enough good things about the quality of the customer service over the years and the encouragement we have received. Kudos to your engineers for making machines that perform over the long haul. We for sure have the world’s brightest recreation center and the Wood-Mizer company had a good hand in making it so.” – Ruston Seaman

had saved some big chunks of walnut from the mill that were left over from a beam I cut, and wanted to design and build a table with them. A lot of people were impressed with the overall design which I had a lot of fun creating.” – Jesse Busenitz
