We are reaching the half-way point of the year and Canarias online keeps jaunting through the editorial world as fresh as we were the first day. This is a special issue: Tenerife had the fortune to have Anaga declared and certified by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve and this is the subject of our main article; it could not be otherwise. Taburiente, awarded the Gold Medal of the Canaries, is the subject of the interview we selected for this issue; they celebrate their fortieth year and tell us about it with great emotion. We also present to you Encuentracuentos, a stroll through the story behind our storytellers, a profession as old as it is enriching. We continue with the health section, where we talk about the proper

nutrition for pregnant women, after having attended a workshop with the midwives of la Matanza de Acentejo. Our protagonists in Canary Style and Canarian by Adoption are both artists: Canero who presents his exhibit Colours and Bea Roque, a pastry chef who leaves us with a sweet taste in our mouths. You will find all this and much more in this new edition of Canarias online.

Farewell to Eduardo Galeano I don’t like anything about this piece of news in I Like in Canarias online, One of the great ones has left us, one of those universal, unrepeatable authors, admired by all, loved by society. Eduardo Galeano died at 7 in Montevideo, his natal city. He leaves behind in this world an enviable lesson in literature: Memory of Fire, Open Veins of Latin America o the Book of Embraces are some of his most beloved works. Galeano was a journalist and a caricaturist, as well as a political activist, which led him into exile during the dictatorship, which also jailed him.

months of films and… Chirino
Ok, it’s possible that I have been paying more attention, I don’t know, but these past two months seem to have been filled with news about films. Haven’t you noticed? I’m including some of these in this overview and leaving others out. Amongst those discarded, I could have made an allusion to the Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which celebrated its fifteenth year, in a new month and under a new direction, and left us with a generally good feeling. But not everything will fit on these two pages. In fact, there is not much room at all. I hope that all the Canary Islanders who work in and for culture will forgive me if they do not see their efforts reflected here. Textos: Domingo J. González

When it happens, we are bewildered and find ourselves unable to find any answers. » 40 years is easy enough to say, but how does one live 40 years of music? Pichón Trail Project Solidarity and Sports You’ll be asking yourself what baby pigeons (pichones ) have to do with multiple sclerosis and trail-running. In this interview we’ll explain the relationship that unites these three elements in a solid social project that that already overflowed the borders of our country. ¿How can people cooperate with the Pichón Trail Project? There are many ways of cooperating: > 1. Become a member of the team. This requires a monetary contribution for purchase of the sports gear and becoming a solidarity member. > 2. Become a solidarity member of the association, by paying 10€ a year. These members receive a symbolic bracelet with the motto of the association. > 3. Businesses can contribute funds for the different activities we organize. These companies get publicity on our sports gear and we also publicize them on social media and on our webpage to make their social actions with regard to our association known. > 4. Sports facilities, clubs or teams wishing to cooperate with us can “purchase” a poster to be hung in their facilities. And we are always open to any other type of cooperation, either through our own association or through initiatives careated by others in which we can cooperate within our possibilities: we will be present. > Finally, we remind you that 'Giving up is not an option'

Octopus Salad The weather is turning warmer and our bodies will be ready for cool and tasty food, to be savoured with a cold beer, so we have chosen to offer you a plate of octopus pulled from the Canary Island ocean. It’s delicious and refreshing, a taste of the sea, and we will accompany it with some Canarian wrinkled potatoes.
Preparation: Cook the octopus. You can boil water and, after washing the octopus, submerge it three times and then let it cook until it is tender. Or if you use a pressure cooker, you can cook it without water for 15 minutes and it will be perfect. Once you have cooked it, let it cook and then cut it into regular

Bea Roque’s Corner Or how to put some sweetness in your life
Did you know that the confectionery blogger with the largest number of followers in all of Spain lives in the Canaries? We visited El Rincón de Bea (Bea’s Corner) just as she is publishing her second recipe book, so that she could tell us how her life changed when she decided to write her blog. At Canarias online we are delighted with her proposals and we will enjoy her recipes every time we can. Now it’s time for you to get to know her and put a little sweetness in your life. From La Coruna and Madrid, part British, living in the south of Tenerife... Who exactly is Bea Roque? It’s as you just said: I was born in Coruña, lived in Madrid until I was 18, and then came to live in the south of Tenerife with my ex, who was British and with whom I spent long periods of time in England. That’s where the British part comes in. Currently I am still living here in Tenerife and eight years ago I started writing my blog El Rincón de Bea, or Bea’s Corner. Can you tell us how your life has changed since you started your blog El Rincon de Bea? When I started with the blog it was just a novelty, a pastime, the hobby I had never had. But in the last two years my life has

Twelve years ago my husband and I moved into our new home. It had an enormous kitchen with an oven. I had never had a good oven or counter space to put anything on. It was then that I started visiting cooking forums such as Mundorecetas, El Cafetito and Mesacamilla, where I found myself in a new world, with people who took pictures of their culinary creations and shared recipes. I discovered the Thermomix and the KitchenAid. And then I discovered blogs.

The New Girlfriend Dir: François Ozon François Ozon, the eternal enfant terrible of European Film-making, is now 48 years old and has an outstanding career behind him. I think it’s about time to discard the label and simply hail one of the film-makers who best delves into the dark side of everyday life. In The New Girlfriend he approaches the question of gender in his own way, with Romain Duris (The Beat that my Heart Skipped) y Anaïs Demoustier in the main roles.
BR The Wire (complete series) Critics have put this series on the podium as one of the best of all time, and few dare to try to bring it down from Olympus. All five seasons of The Wire have been edited in blue-ray. An opportunity to “enjoy” that dirty and unforgettable wiretapped Baltimore.
CD Big Love Simply Red Hadn’t they left? It looks as if the answer is no. Mick Hucknall, the most famous redhead on the music scene, returns with a new CD, Big Love, just in time for the 30th anniversary of the band. No great changes, but then nobody expected any. Simply Red comes back doing what it does best: make us dance to an elegant sound, without stridence. Listen to Shine on, an advance of the disc, if you don’t believe me.
BOOK Siempre donde quieras Diego Ojeda Sánchez A mirage? A fad of an urban tribe of singer-songwriters that seems to have returned to the front lines taking advantage of the political fever in which we live? Whatever it is, the fact that a large publishing company is publishing poetry is news, and the fact that it comes from a young author, even more newsworthy. Diego Ojeda Sánchez a Canary Islander, lives in Madrid, is a singersongwriter and a poet. Let’s give him a chance.
