The Brumbies led for almost the entire match before a 75th minute penalty goal from James O’Connor gave the Reds victory. Folau Fainga’a got the Brumbies on the board first before Tom Banks pounced on a loose pass to give the away side an early 12-0 lead. The Reds kicked two penalty goals before the Brumbies answered with one of their own to make it 15-6 at the break.
