Be Graceful Vera Wang unveils the Grace Collection
Acclaimed bridal couture designer Vera Wang celebrated the unveiling of Grace at the Wedding Suite at Nordstrom Downtown Seattle on Wednesday August 15, 2012. Grace, her vintage-inspired collection of wedding gowns was surprise to many, as Wang is known for her modern and fashion-forward designs. Each gown in the collection was inspired by a collection of vintage designer gowns Wang has acquired throughout her career. Hundreds of women lined up around the block of the Nordstrom Flagship hoping to have the chance to meet the queen of bridal couture. To much disappointment, only the first 50 brides-to-be were allowed in for a meet & greet with Wang. Select brides-to-be were given appointments to try on gowns from the Grace Collection and one lucky bride was selected as a winner of a couture Grace by Vera Wang gown. We spoke with the winner, Vanessa Anderson who’s wedding is set for August 11th of this summer. Anderson thought she had found the dress of dreams when she purchased it at a local bridal boutique last fall, until she saw the gowns from the Grace Collection. She fell in love with the Alexandria gown, pictured above left. “My wedding is going to be very vintage-chic and in a country setting, but I am so excited to add a little bit of glamour with this amazing gown. I really can’t believe I won a Vera Wang!” said Anderson. Fall in Love Saying ‘I Do’ this Fall? Be inspired by this Country-Chic Barn Wedding
The bride’s gorgeous Alexandria Grace by Vera Wang gown was the most expensive piece of the wedding at $12,800. However, she made up for that by creating her own floral arrangements with flowers purchased at Costco and added in raspberries for a country-chic touch.
After spending countless hours “plate” hunting at local thrift stores for vintage china for their place settings the bride found these wonderful blue & gold plates for 50 cents a piece. Together, the bride and groom created three signature cocktails just for their wedding day; Berry in Love, Honey, I Do and Mint to Be.
The bride and groom were married at Swans Trail Farms in Snohomish, WA north of Seattle We love this venue, and the rustic features from an old turquoise car, to bails of hay in the barn.
