IMPORTANT! By following and complying with the information contained in this manual the owner, applicator and installer can be ensured that the application and installation procedures employed during the application and installation of this ANSI/NSF Standard 44 (DWTU) POU Appliance or POE System will not result in acts or actions that could be considered acts or actions that were performed willfully, unwittingly or omitted, which could cause the owner, applicator or installer to be held personally liable of committing a criminal or civilly acts or action. In the event that information in this manual is not followed the owner, applicator and/or installer could be found to have participating in an unwitting illegal act(s) or action(s) that violates state’s adopted plumbing laws and adopted plumbing codes, state water codes, state health and safety laws, or the adopted ordinances and laws of the local jurisdiction authority having jurisdiction for the construction and plumbing permitting and inspection processes.

The water treatment equipment or system must be installed in compliance with the manufacturer’s ANSI/NSF Standard 44 DWTU approved listing which specify Ionicron Water Systems’ requirements and specifications and for the application, installation, disinfection and startup of this NSF 44 DWTU POU or POE System and all applicable adopted state plumbing laws and local adopted plumbing codes, law, and regulations.

Ionicron Water Systems - 11 QUICK START Application and Installations , Maintenance and Repairs Purchasing TIPS: 1. Purchase only ANSI/NSF 44 Certified POU or POE Water Softener (DWTUs) Systems.

2. Employ only State licensed and manufacturer trained, certified and authorized Water treatment specialist II - softeners only or III – any type including Reverse Osmosis applications equipment.

3. Require State approved and Certified Laboratory water analysis and testing reports.

4. Require a written systems design recommendations & specifications.

5. Require written sales proposals and construction documents.

6. Require the installation be performed by plumbing permits and inspections processes.

7. Require backflow protection devices, thermal expansion protection, Cross-Connection protection, water pressure control devices, main yard piping “wsfu’s calculations values maintained.

8. Performed and annual inspection system maintenance and microbiological testing, 9. Perform disinfection procedures before and after system install, maintenance and services.

10. Always comply with Federal, State and Local Plumbing Jurisdiction Laws, Codes, Ordinances.

11. Purchase (DWTUs) Products and Service, ONLY from State TCEQ Licensed Water Treatment Specialist 11’s OR 111’s and/or a TSBPE Qualified Responsible Master Plumbers under Contract.

Before you attempt to install the ANSI/NSF Standard 44 Approved and Listed Point of Use (POU) DWTU appliance or Point of Entry (POE) DWTU System: • Before attempting any application or installation of any NSF Standard 44 listed DWTU appliance or system, please read the manufacturer’s requirements sections instructions completely. Secure necessary water analysis, bacteriological and microbiological required testing by a state certified laboratory results report, obtain necessary plumbing permits, approved installation devices and materials and appropriate installation tools necessary for the installation. Always consult with, a state licensed water treatment specialist for the application issues associated with the application and consult with, a state licensed responsible master plumbers before attempting plumbing work services necessary for the plumbing installation processes.

NOTE: Failure to properly apply or install the Ionicron Water Systems ANSI/NSF Standard 44 approved/listed DWTU POU or POE appliance(s) correctly could voids the Manufacturer’s product limited life time warranty and could potentially lead to or result in civil and criminal fines or other legal actions being charged against the person(s) applying or installing the DWTU POU or POE appliance or system not in compliance with the ANSI/NSF Standard 44 DWTU listing.

• Perform all application and installation procedures in according with federal, state and local adopted plumbing codes, water codes, health and safety codes and ordinances and law of the local jurisdiction authority for permitting and inspection over construction or plumbing work service activities.

NOTE: Use only lead-free solder and flux for sweated-solder connections which, is listed and approved as a water soluble product for potable water supplies NSF 61, as required by federal and state plumbing laws and adopted plumbing codes and the local jurisdiction ordinance(s) and law(s).

Handle DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) or system(s) components of the Ionicron Water Systems (DWTUs) with care. Do not drop, drag or turn components upside down.

•

Be sure the floor surface under the water softening system is clean and level.

•

Ionicron Water System DWTU POU appliance(s) and POE system(s) are to be connected and used only with 120 volt-60Hz electrical power.

•

Always use the power cord supplied with the DWTU appliance or system. Use extension cords only for temporary electrical connection(s) and only for short temporary periods of time, never use electrical extension cords as a permanent electrical wiring system.

Note: All DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s) are supplied with power cords and shall only be connected to an approved GFCI protected 120 volt, grounded outlet electrical receptacles.

All Ionicron Water System DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and systems shall be properly grounded to comply with to all electrical codes and ordinances.

•

Install Ionicron Water Systems DWTU appliance(s) and system(s) in a protected area. Be sure electric outlet and transformer do not come in contact with water. See Where to Install the Softener, in the installation section of the manual.

Do not attempt to treat water over 110°F with the Ionicron Water Systems DWTU appliance(s) or system(s).

-

Always connect the Ionicron Water Systems to the main water supply pipe and before the water heater device or system for POE System applications.

-

Do not expose Ionicron Water Systems to freezing temperatures, below 32 F degrees. Water freezing within the system may cause irreversible damage to the equipment and/or even greater damage to structures from water leaks. Such Damage could void the manufacturer’s product warranty.

-

Do not install in direct sunlight. Heat from sun may cause damage.

The minimum inlet water pressure is 30 psi. The Maximum inlet water pressure is 75 psi.

A pressure reducing valve shall be installed to insure the high pressure limiting requirement if after a 24hour water pressure test results indicate that the static water pressure being supplied by the water purveyor’s main water distribution system’s pressure exceeds 80psi during the required 24 hour pressure test. If the structure’s main yard water supply piping system is not yet connected to the water purveyor’s water metering system for the structure, then perform the required 24 hour water pressure test using a watering hose bib connection in close proximity to the structure requiring the pressure testing provided the structure being utilized for such a pressure test is connected to the same purveyors water distribution system.

•

Sodium ions which are exchanged for calcium, magnesium and some iron ions during the regeneration cycles resulting in the water softening processes should be considered as part of your families overall dietary salt, as sodium, intake. Contact physician if you are on a low sodium restricted diet. For the average person treated water no over 20 grains hard is considered safe for potable water intake.

•

Use only clean water softening salts only, at least 99.5% pure. Failure to use the correct salt may create a health hazard or maintenance problems. Never us cow lick blocks salt.

•

Use only salt that is considered pure salt and manufactured specifically for NSF Standard 44 DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s). Pure salt is considered, salt that is packaged and advertised as NSF Standard Certified and where the packaging is labeled - stating the salt as packaged is 99.9% pure salt and 1% silica sand. This NSF Certified packaged salt is the only salt that authorized to be used in NSF Standard 44 DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and POE system(s).

The Ionicron Water Systems DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s) are designed to hold a reservoir of salt with a capacity of four hundred pounds (400 lbs). Because of the heaviness of a loaded brine tank the installer should insure it is in the specific location selected for the brine tank operation. The Ionicron Water Systems’ brine tank uses a slip-off cover. The brine tank’s cover should always be in place except during refilling with salt. The authorized and recommended forms of salt manufactured and packaged displaying the required NSF Mark is manufactured and come in a variety of forms: nugget, pellet or coarse solar salts.

The brine tank components when totally assembled is referred to as a brining system(s) or brine tank(s) which, have been specifically designed and manufactured by Ionicron Water Systems to be used as a component of the complete Ionicron Water Systems, DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s).

Do not use rock, block, granulated, solar evaporated or ice cream making salts in the Pentair Water Treatment System NSF Standard 44, POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s).

Always keep the salt lid in place unless servicing the brine tank components or replenishing the salt. The brine tank should never be placed in a location where possible Page 7 of 28

unauthorized tampering could occur by unknown persons or become contaminated by the brine tank(s) surrounding environmental elements: rain, wind, insects and blowing sand.

•

Do not allow household items or products such as paint, motor oil, insecticides, soaps, gasoline or other product(s) that if placed directly on or above the lid of the Brine Tank System could result in the reservoir of salt and/or the salt solution mixture to become polluted and/or contaminated. A contaminated brine tank and brine solution, caused by such a spill, leak or an accidental release of household products, has a very real possibility of being drawn into the DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s) which, would result in the DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s) to produce waters that are polluted or contaminated. An accident of this type is considered a cross connection that resulted from a contamination or pollution and could cause serious bodily injury or even death. Keep extra salt bags stored in a clean and secure location. Do not let the bags come into contact with other household items which could also pollute or contaminate the stored salt bags.

CAUTION:

Do not use on waters that are unsafe or of unknown quality.

Test product waters periodically to verify that the system is performing to the manufacturer’s specified production requirements and producing satisfactory water treatment results.

Do not discard small parts remaining after the installation.

Do not discard the packaging, boxes or crating containers that the system was shipped and/or delivered in. These materials could be useful and necessary in the event the DWTU POU or POE appliance or system must be returned to the manufacturer.

Do not return this product to the store or dealership where the DWTU appliance or system was purchased.

Installation Location: •

Install only indoors or in an approved covered and protected dry environments, which will provide protection from direct sunlight and where wet environments under normal conditions will not occur, such as a garage are or inside of a suitable dry structure.

Install in an area of the structure or suitable structure where protection from insect infestation is provided.

Install in a location where the spillage of water or the sudden and accidental discharge or release of water during normal operations, servicing or maintenance procedures would not cause water damage to the building structure or wall finishing or cause the development of mold growth.

Setup Unpacking and Inspection Check the Ionicron Water Systems components for damage or missing parts.

Where to Install the Softener Consider the following requirements when determining where to install the water softener: • • • • • •

Place the Ionicron Water Systems appliance and system as close as possible to a sanitary sewer drain.

Do not install the DWTU appliance(s) or system(s) where it would block access to a water heating Appliance(s) or system(s), or access to the main water supply shutoff, water meter, electrical panels or obstruct path ways.

Attempt to keep outside water faucets supplied with untreated water to conserve save soft water, which may result in salt savings dollars.

Install the softener in a place where water damage is least likely to occur if a DWTU appliance or system leak develops.

An approved GFCI protected 110V electrical receptacle outlet providing the necessary asses to 110V electrical supply is required to connect the DWTU appliance’s or system’s electrical supply cord plug-in or electrical transformer plug-in.

All Ionicron Water Systems DWTU appliance’s or system’s having an electrical supply demand of 24V and employing a approve UL 24V transformer may have the transformer wire extended up to one-hundred (100) feet by making an approved electrical wiring splice that would extend the wire length so as the 24V transformer may be connected to an approved GFCI, electrical (110V) receptacle outlet. The 24V electrical supply wire splicing must be performed using an approved electrical wire splicing method. Only 24V wire splicing is allowed when an approved GFCI electrical 110V receptacle outlet is not within ten (10) feet of an appliance or system. An approved electrical spliced method may only be used to extend a 24V transformer connecting wire not more than one-hundred (100) feet using (10-2) electrical wiring to complete the splice. In no case shall the DWTU appliance’s or systems electrical wiring pass through a exterior or interior wall or the brick facing of the structure. The electrical receptacle outlet used to plug-in the Ionicron Water Systems appliance(s) or system(s) shall always be performed where the electrical receptacle outlet is in direct site from the DWTU appliance or system and with easy access.

Always connect the Ionicron Water Systems DWTU appliance or system inlet and outlet to the main water distribution supply piping system before the feed water supply inlet of the water heating and storage system. All such connections shall be not closer in length of water piping than four (4’) feet and shall have a heat sink trap installed immediately after the DWTU appliance or system outlet feed to the water heating and storage system if the installation is within six (6’) feet or the inlet water supply feed to the water heating and storage system.

Install the Pentair Water Systems DWTU appliance(s) or system(s) will not be subject to temperatures outside of the limits stated in the Specification section of this manual an in no instance shall DWTU appliance(s) or system(s) be installed where the DWTU appliance(s) or system(s) are exposed to the direct rays of the sun.

Hardness Setting Municipal Water Ionicron Water Systems recommends that you call your local water company to determine your water hardness in grains per gallon and iron in mg/l (or ppm).

Well Water Ionicron Water Systems recommends that you have your water tested professionally for accurate hardness and iron content.

Installation 1. Turn off gas or electric supply to the water heater.

2. Turn off the water supply to pipes to be cut and drain the house water pipes.

3. Open both hot and cold faucets.

4. Move the softener assembly into installation position.

• Be sure the installation surface is level and smooth.

5. Plumb IN and OUT connections to and from softener.

• Be sure the incoming hard water supply is directed to the INLET port of the valve.

• The valve body of the control is marked with arrows indicating the proper flow direction.

Models 2750-1.0, 2750-1.5, 2750-2.0, and 2750-3.0 are manufactured by Pentair Water Treatment Systems and are certified and approved under NSF Standard 44 DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s). The residential drinking water treatment unit, models listed above may not include the installation option of a commercial service bypass valve assembly.

The residential NSF Standard 44 DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s) (Water Softener(s)) can be easily bypassed during routine maintenances utilizing the plumbing code approved and required water utility service connection ports with built-in 3-way full flow bypass assembly. However, commercial water softeners and their main water control valve with optional service bypass valve assembly are designed and marked as a servicing bypass for convenience of taking the commercial applied and installed water treatment equipment off line. Commercial water softeners and other types of water treatment units are applied and installation to perform some special function requiring water treatment. Commercial water treatment equipment is not required to be NSF Standard 42, 44, 58 or 61 and may not be applied or installed to provide or process potable drinking water for private or public consumption. Commercial service bypass valve assemblies are not approved as a potable water valve, plumbing fixture, apparatus, nor is the service bypass valve assembly approved as a stand along component or part of a potable water piping system, as is required by all national, state and local jurisdiction authorities that have adopted national plumbing code and their plumbing requirements and where such requirements must be verified using a permits and inspection processes.

assemblies are used and operated only when performing required services and maintenances to individual unit and where the to be service unit is part of a larger water treatment system. The commercial optional service bypass valve assembly if not properly maintained could cause a severe water leak and result in flooding of the entire installation location if not will maintained and is no longer allowed to be used in residential water treatment applications and installation. Optional water service bypass valve assemblies are not approved as a stand alone potable water valve, plumbing fixture, apparatus, nor is the optional water service bypass valve assembly approved as a stand along component or part of a potable water piping system, as is required by all national, state and local jurisdiction authorities that have adopted national plumbing code and their plumbing requirements and where such requirements must be verified using a permits and inspection processes. The individual optional service bypass valve assembly is not an approved water valve, fixture, plumbing part or component of a potable piping system under NSF Standard 61. However such devices (optional water service bypass valve assemblies) may be included as part of the NSF Standard 44 DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s). Prior to the adoption of the current federal, state and local jurisdiction authorities adoption of national plumbing codes and the current national plumbing code’s requirements that all drinking water treatment units intended to be installed in residential property or connected to a private or public potable drinking water distribution system must be certified and listed under ANNSI/NSF standards 42, 44, 52, 58, 61 local plumbing jurisdiction authorities allowed this device to be installed and utilized as the water utility service connection ports that would be used to connect a softener unit to the private and/or public property owner’s potable water distribution system of be the same purpose as the plumbing code required 3-Way ball valve assembly that serves as the DTWU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s) utility service connection point.

The installation of the optional system bypass valve is in addition to the plumbing code required 3-Way ball valve assembly that services as the DWTU POU and POE appliance(s) and system(s) utility service bypass assembly w/plugs that are required federal, state and local plumbing jurisdiction authority adopted plumbing codes. All plumbing external to the DWTU POU and POU appliance(s) and systems per federal, state and local plumbing codes necessary to install, alter, extend or remove water treatment equipment must be performed by the permit and inspection processes of the local jurisdiction authority.

Commercial applications and installations of water treatment appliance(s) and system(s) are allowed to have as part of the water softener appliance(s) or system(s) a service bypass valve assembly installed. The service bypass assembly valves are installed between the inlet and outlet pipe connection ports on commercial main water control valves of the commercial water softener appliance(s) and system(s).

The service bypass valve assemblies are allowed on commercial appliance(s) and system(s) as a component or part of the main water control valve because of the isolated area locations of installation, floor drains and for ease of servicing larger water softener(s) which, are applied and installed for treating commercial non-potable water. The sole purpose of a commercial service bypass valve assembly is to allow commercial water softeners to be taken off line while repairs are performed allowing the remaining bank of water treatment equipment to perform as designed until the bypassed individual appliance(s) or system(s) can be repaired or have the required maintenance performed.

CAUTION: If making a soldered copper installation, do all sweat soldering before connecting pipes to the bypass valve. Torch heat will damage plastic parts.

CAUTION: When turning threaded pipe fittings onto plastic fittings, use care not to cross-thread.

CAUTION: Use Teflon tape on all external pipe threads. Do not use pipe joint compound.

CAUTION: Support inlet and outlet plumbing in some manner (use pipe hangers) to keep the weight off of the valve fittings.

6. Find barbed hose fitting in small parts kit. Attach barbed hose fitting to the 1/2" male NPT drain outlet.

7. Cut the length of the hose in half. One section will be used as a valve drain hose. The remaining section will be used as an overflow hose in Step 11.

8. Connect and route the valve drain hose.

• Use the provided drain hose to attach to the valve drain fitting. To keep water pressure from blowing the hose off, use a hose clamp to secure.

9. Locate the other end of the hose at a suitable drain.

• Tie or wire the hose in place at the drain point. Also provide an air gap of at least 1-1/2" between the end of the hose and the drain point.

Use Step 10 to install rigid drain pipe.

10. To adapt a rigid drain pipe to the Pentair Water Treatment system, do not attach barbed hose fitting to valve. Instead, plumb rigid tubing directly to the 1/2" male NPT drain fitting.

11. Take the other half of the cut hose and attach it to the overflow adapter elbow located on the side of the brine tank. Use a hose clamp to hold it in place. Locate the other end of the hose at the drain point as shown in Figure 7.

12. Fully open two (2) cold (soft) water faucets near the water softener.

13. Place bypass valve in "bypass" position (2510 illustrated below).

14. Fully open the house main water shutoff valve. Observe a steady flow from both faucets opened earlier.

15. Slowly, turn bypass valve back in the "service" position. Keep soft water faucets open.

16. After about 3 minutes, open a HOT water faucet for one (1) minute, or until all air is expelled, then close.

NOTE: If water appears cloudy or has salty taste, allow to run for several more minutes, or until clear.

17. Close all water faucets.

18. Check plumbing work for leaks and fix immediately if any are found.

19. Remove the brine tank cover and add water into the tank. Although the material used in the manufacturing of this water softener will not contaminate your water supply, the softener could become contaminated during shipment and installation. The media inside the resin tank may also have become disturbed during shipping. The following procedure will help re-position the media, sanitize, flush and condition your water softener: a) Add 1-1/2 ounces of common household bleach to the water in the cabinet (brine tank). b) Following the directions in the Control Service Manual, manually advance the softener through each step of regeneration pausing for 10 minutes in each cycle except the Fill cycle (see step c.). c) See the enclosed Water Softener Performance Data Sheet for the Fill cycle time associated with your model. d) Repeat step 19a and 19c after any service has been performed on your water softener.

20. Turn ON the gas or electric supply to the water heater.

21. Remove the brine tank cover and add salt into the tank. Use only nugget, pellet or coarse solar salt with a purity of 99.5% or higher. DO NOT use rock, block, granulated, and ice cream-making salts, or salt with iron removing additives. Keep the cabinet cover closed unless servicing or refilling with salt.

22. Connect electrical power by plugging the transformer into a (120 volt) outlet.

23. With the valve In Service, manually initiate a regeneration as the final installation step. This regeneration will: a) Fill the brine tank with the appropriate amount of water for the 1st regeneration b) Complete the final flushing and conditioning of the water softener. c) Re-classify the resin bed if the bed was disturbed during shipping.

Softener Operation As water enters the softener, it passes over a resin bed in a special tank. The resin consists of tiny beads of a plastic called styrene. These beads attract and hold sodium ions and exchange the sodium for hardness ions when encountered. Over time, the resin becomes saturated with hardness ions and no longer removes hardness materials. The softener goes into a "regeneration" to flush hardness materials to the drain and refresh the resin with sodium. Regeneration is typically programmed to take place in the middle of the night when little or no water is in use.

Regeneration consists of four cycles:

1. Brine Draw / Slow Rinse Position Brine Draw is the process in which brine is drawn out of the brine cabinet and passed through the resin in a downward direction. This rinses the resin and large amounts of sodium ions replace the hardness ions accumulated during service. Slow Rinse. After brine is completely removed from the brine cabinet into the resin tank the brine valve closes. Water replaces any remaining brine from the resin, flushing hardness ions removed from the resin to drain.

2. Backwash Position Backwash is a rapid upward flow of water that loosens the resin bed and flushes iron particles, dirt and sediments filtered in the bed out to the drain.

3. Fast Rinse Position Fast Rinse is a fast flow of water down through the resin tank that follows a Backwash. This flushes all remaining brine from the tank and packs the resin bed for softening efficiency.

4. Brine Fill Brine is water saturated with large amounts of a salt (sodium chloride). During brine fill, water flows into the salt storage area after each regeneration and dissolves salt. During the regeneration process, hardness ions on the resin beads are replaced or exchanged for sodium ions from the brine solution.

5. Service When the softener is In Service it is flowing water through the system and removing hardness minerals from your water.

Service Cleaning Iron Out of the Water Softening System The Pentair Water Treatment system is designed to remove minerals like calcium and magnesium from household water. Pentair Water Treatment recommends periodic resin bed cleaning if your iron rating is high. Clean the bed at least every six months, or more if iron appears in the soft water between cleanings.

Checking for a Salt Bridge A hard crust or "Salt Bridge" can form in the lower half of the salt storage tank. This can be deceiving because the tank will appear to have plenty of salt, but underneath, salt has hardened and when the system regenerates, water cannot quite reach this level to be made into brine (water and salt).

Breaking a Salt Bridge Take a wooden broom handle and carefully push it down into the salt, working it up and down. If the tool strikes a hard object (be sure it's not the bottom or sides of the tank), it's probably a salt bridge. Carefully break the bridge with the broom handle. Do not pound on the walls of the tank.

NOTE: Salt bridges are typically caused by high humidity or using the wrong kind of salt. In humid areas it is best to fill with less salt, more often. Use only nugget, pellet or coarse solar salt with a purity of 99.5% or higher. DO NOT use rock, block, granulated, and ice cream-making salts, or salt with iron-removing additives.

Turn off water supply to conditioner: a) If the conditioner installation has a “three valve” by-pass system, first open the valve in the bypass line, then close the valves at the conditioner inlet and outlet. b) If the conditioner has an integral by-pass valve, put it in the by-pass position. c) If there is only a shut-off valve near the conditioner inlet, close it.

Relieve water pressure in the conditioner by stepping the control into the backwash position momentarily.

Return the control to the service position.

Unplug electrical cord from outlet.

Disconnect brine tube and drain line connections at the injector body.

Remove the two injector body mounting screws. The injector and brine module can now be removed from the control valve. Clean and reassemble.

To replace brine valve. a) Pull brine valve from injector body, also remove and discard O-ring at bottom of brine valve hole. b) Apply silicone lubricant to new O-ring and reinstall at bottom of brine valve hole. c) Apply silicone lubricant to O-ring on new valve assembly and press into brine valve hole, shoulder on bushing should be flush with injector body.

To replace injectors and screen. a) Remove injector cap and screen, discard O-ring. Unscrew injector nozzle and throat. b) Screw in new injector throat and nozzle, be sure they are sealed tightly. Install a new screen. c) Apply silicone lubricant to new O-ring and install around oval extension on injector cap.

Apply silicone lubricant to three new O-rings and install over three bosses on injector body.

Insert screws with washers thru injector cap and injector. Place this assembly thru hole in timer housing and into mating holes in the valve body.

Tighten screws.

Reconnect brine tube and drain line.

Return by-pass or inlet valving to normal service position. Water pressure should now be applied to the conditioner, and any by-pass line shut off.

Check for leaks at all seal areas. Check drain seal with the control in the backwash position.

Plug electrical cord into outlet.

Set time of day and cycle the control valve manually to assure proper function. Make sure control valve is returned to the service position.

Make sure there is enough salt in the brine tank.

Start regeneration cycle manually if water is hard.

(“Fleck”) and the Structural North American division of Essef Corporation (“Essef”), affiliated companies collectively doing business as “Pentair Water Treatment” (collectively referred to herein as “Pentair Water Treatment”) manufactures their respective products (“Products”) and parts (“Parts”) under the highest standards of workmanship using quality materials.

Accordingly, Pentair Water Treatment expressly warrants these Products and Parts as follows: WARRANTY COVERAGE (a) “Fleck” branded products and parts - All Products and Parts actually manufactured after May 1, 2001 are warranted to be free from defects in material and/or workmanship under normal use and service for a period of five (5) years from the date of shipment from its plant in Brookfield, Wisconsin. All Products and Parts actually manufactured before May 1, 2001 are warranted to be free from defects in material and/or workmanship under normal use and service for a period of three (3) years from the date of shipment from it’s plant in Brookfield, Wisconsin. (b) “Wellmate” and “ROmate” branded products and parts – Wellmate and ROmate branded Residential Water System Tanks are warranted to the original owner to be free of defects in material and/or workmanship under normal use for a period of five (5) years from the date of original installation. Wellmate branded Residential Water System Tanks installed in approved installations other than residential installations are warranted for only two (2) years from the date of original installation. 3. Problems resulting from failure to comply with installation instructions or drawings, or improper installation.

4. Damage caused by acts of nature or problems resulting from abuse, misuse, negligence or accident by any party other than Pentair Water Treatment.

5. Problems resulting in whole or in part from alteration, modification or attempted repair of these Products or Parts by any party other than Pentair Water Treatment.

6. Pistons, Seals, Spacers, and Brine Valves on all hot water valves. These parts require maintenance as part of a yearly service schedule.

7. Noncompliance with applicable codes, and ordinances including without limitation, plumbing codes.

8. Damage due to chemical attack.

Additional exclusions applicable to WellMate, ROmate, Comptec, Structural PolyGlass Composite FRP and CodeLine branded products: 1. Warranty applies only to original owner at the original installation location.

2. Failure to adhere to installation and operation instructions, including failure to operate tank in accordance with limitations stated of product label.

3. Failure to properly size tank to pump manufacturer’s recommendations.

4. Use of product with water containing sediment or chemicals.

5. Injury to tank or any part thereof caused by exposure to vacuum, freezing, external impact, chemical attack from liquid and gasses, fire, floods and lightning.

WARRANTY OBLIGATIONS OF PENTAIR WATER TREATMENT Should a defect in workmanship and/or material in Products or Parts covered by this warranty become evident during the term of the warranty, then upon compliance with the procedures, as set forth below, Pentair Water Treatment, at its option, will: In the case of Products, issue a credit in the amount of the original purchase price of the product, or repair or replace the defective Products. Pentair Water Treatment will consider, in good faith customer preference in making a determination whether to issue a credit or repair or replace a Product. In the case of Parts, whether purchased new or exchanged on a Product by other parts, Parts may not be returned for credit or repair. Pentair Water Treatment will only be responsible for the replacement of defective Parts.

The subject Product or Parts must be returned to the original point of shipment, freight prepaid, along with a letter stating the model number, serial number, if any, the date of purchase of the item which is claimed to be defective and a brief description of the problems encountered. Pentair Water Treatment is not responsible under this Limited Warranty for any cost of shipping or transportation incurred in connection with the return of the Products or Parts.

WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS BY OTHERS - No dealer or other person has any authority to make any warranties or representations concerning Pentair Water Treatment or its products.

OTHER RIGHTS - This warranty gives specific legal rights, and other rights may apply. Such rights vary from state to state

CodeLine Products - If the buyer discovers within this period a failure of the product to conform to specifications, or a defect in material or workmanship, the buyer must promptly notify Pentair Water Treatment in writing. In no event may that notification be received by Pentair Water Treatment more than 30 days after the end of the warranty period. Any goods that the buyer believes to be defective are to be returned to Pentair Water Treatment’s factory for examination. However, upon request of the buyer, Pentair Water Treatment may, at his discretion, agree to examine the goods in the field. If, upon examination by Pentair Water Treatment, any goods sold under this agreement or purchase order do fail to conform to CodeLine- specifications, or prove to be defective in material or workmanship, Pentair Water Treatment will supply an identical or substantially similar part F.O.B., Pentair Water Treatment’s factory; or Pentair Water Treatment, at its option, will repair such part or give credit to the buyer for the original cost of such goods. However, if the goods were examined in the field and Pentair Water Treatment determines that they do conform to CodeLine- specifications, the buyer will be responsible to pay to Pentair Water Treatment, a $750 field service charge, plus travel expenses and a $750 per diem charge. Any replacement goods provided hereunder will be warranted against defects in material and workmanship for the unexpired portion of the one-year warranty period applicable to the good.
