EDI – THANK YOU DONALD GEIKIE
that this project will enable us to become a school that is truly innovative in its approach towards promoting gender equality.
We would also like to thank Donald for giving his time to speak with our Rainbow Alliance group about his own personal journey in working towards equity for all. It was inspiring to hear of his work in the US.
The EDI committee at Canford School is indebted to Donald Geikie C67 for his generous donation. The funding has enabled us to further our development of EDI issues.
Following his award, we have been able to commission speakers to come to the school to speak on a range of EDI topics such as race, gender, and neurodiversity. Many of these speakers supported our Festival of Ideas and Black History Month programmes. Some have been commissioned to speak to our pupil led support groups: the Rainbow Alliance, Open Minded, BBMC and Challenge Sexism groups. We have also used the funds to sign up to work with Bold Voices, an independent organisation that seeks to educate to end gender inequality and gendered violence. Through the programme we have six ambassadors who are completing online training to help support them in a research-based action development project. We hope
