CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL LUXURY, GLAMOUR AND GEMS OF THE SEAS

T

rue to its reputation as Europe’s leading in-water boat show, the Cannes Yachting Festival, on its 40th anniversary, will be hosting nearly 600 boats from 12th to 17th September 2017 in the two ports of Cannes: the Vieux Port and the Port Pierre Canto. Yachts, superyachts, sailing boats, multihulls, small motorboats... Around one hundred boats will make their world premiere and admired by visitors from all over the globe. At the Cannes Yachting Festival, there is a wide range of possibilities! Want an inflatable dinghy for a day trip or a 50 metre yacht to go sailing? Every enthusiast can find their ideal boat from 2,80 to 65 metres among the fleet presented by the most famous international manufacturers. The boats, with hulls gleaming in the sunshine, compete with one another in their modernity, design and technology making the choice that much more difficult. A sea trial in the bay of Cannes will no doubt help the future captain to make up their mind!

Cannes Yachting Festival

Much more than a boat show, the Cannes Yachting Festival is a showcase for the gems of the seas, which, like the Place Vendôme, highlights unique skills and the «craftsmanship» of shipbuilding. It allows everyone to discover a world that is sometimes difficult to access for their viewing pleasure and great mechanics. An unmissable event for sea lovers. To complete the offer proposed to visitors, the Cannes Yachting Festival hosts the exceptional worlds of luxury homes, crafts and lifestyle, which present their know-how and new products in the Luxury Gallery. Many beautiful brands will gather together around their common passions: yachting and luxury. Last but not least, the Cannes Yachting Festival is organising the 3rd edition of its Concours d’Elégance. A parade of vintage and contemporary boats, reserved for owners or collectors of motorboats and day boats of less than 12 metres. To be admired in the Vieux Port de Cannes for the delight of all boat lovers, taking place on Thursday, 14th September from 5 pm.

It will benefit from a large flow of visitors being an obligatory walkthrough after the main entrance of the show on the Croisette side. The Luxury Gallery enables exhibitors and high-end brands to make themselves known to an international audience of visitors and professionals gathered together around their passions: yachting and luxury. This prestigious area is dedicated exclusively to luxury players in the sectors including: watchmaking, jewellery, spirits, fashion and accessories, household linen, decoration, furniture, design, art, high-tech products, services, etc. They come to meet affluent visitors who enjoy exceptional products, to showcase their know-how and new products.

This area at the main entrance of the Cannes Yachting Festival includes the interior of the Palais des Festivals and the outdoor space on the waterfront. Head inside for boat builders, architects, the broker & charter area, banks, shipping agents, boating service companies and businesses specialising in interior dĂŠcor, furnishings and high-end accessories. Look for two themed zones outside: - Tender zone: on-land displays of elegant day boats used to ferry passengers between port and yacht - Toys zone: this area facing the sea features the latest nautical toys, a steadily growing market in the yachting industry On the roof of the Palais, a Panoramic restaurant, whose menu is signed by the famous Maison Dalloyau, welcomes all visitors and exhibitors and offers a view over one side of the Vieux Port and the yachts on display and on the other the Croisette and the Bay of Cannes. LE VIEUX PORT

The Jetée has two sections: North and South. Both will feature world-renowned shipyards, the majority of which will present motorised vessels that are 15 to 42 metres long. The docks house reception areas for the shipmakers, engine manufactures, various suppliers, service companies and marinas. NEW

On the southern part of the Jetée, exhibitors will benefit from new, more qualitative and elegant structures. The latter will offer them more space with terrace and view over the Vieux Port and their boats. Visitors will be able to enjoy an elevated view to admire both the boats displayed on The Jetée, the smaller motorboats on the middle of the port and the tall ships moored at Quai Saint-Pierre on the other side of the harbour under the Suquet. The Super Yachts Extension brings together some forty of the biggest yachts of the Vieux Port. This year, the largest boat on display in this area is the 48 m displacement signed Baglietto and the largest sailing yacht is the SW102 of Southern Wind. The part of the Super Yachts Extension located on the Traversante hosts the in-water sector of the Tender area.

The Quai Saint Pierre hosts the largest sailing boats, up to 24 metres, and motorboats up to more than 21 metres. On the docks, installed in the reception areas of the shipyards, are the manufacturers of small engines and some sailing boat equipment suppliers. The Pantiero hosts: - The Equipment Village dedicated to boating equipment and accessories - Service companies (insurance, financing, etc.) In-water, visitors will be able to discover high-end motor boats, but also open craft, sport fishing and fly-bridge (from 10 to 32 metres). Built like a marina, the area dedicated to the Multihulls hosts around forty catamarans from 10 to more than 24 metres. This is the largest gathering of habitable multihulls in the world presented by leading French and international shipyards.

The Quai Max Laubeuf presents a variety of sailing boats and motorboats in-water as well as many small motor boats up to 12 metres exhibited on land. It also hosts the RIB Village with more than 60 inflatable dinghies and semi-rigid boats displayed in-water.

PORT PIERRE CANTO BROKERAGE & CHARTER AREA

For more than 10 years, the Brokerage & Charter Area of the the Cannes Yachting Festival has been installed on the docks of the Port Pierre Canto on the other end of the famous Croisette and is reachable in just 7 minutes by sea from the Vieux Port. The Port Pierre Canto hosts the key players of the second-hand yacht market. The sailing and motor yachts presented by the biggest international brokers and renowned charter companies are at least 22 metres long. These large boats offered for sale and/or offered for hire are maintained, by their crew, men and women passionate about their profession with a perfect knowledge of their yachts, the construction sites and the boats available on the market.

Rental or charter is sometimes an intermediate step before buying a boat. This makes it possible to choose between all types of boats available on the market and to evaluate the ideal size to house the family... and to try out the boat! NEW

The shuttle service between the two ports will be reinforced with three new departure points from the Vieux Port: Quai Max Laubeuf, Quai Saint Pierre, JetĂŠe. A ground service will also be unveiled at the next edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival, accessible to all exhibitors and visitors upon presentation of their admission ticket to the show.

Visitors, future renters or owners, benefit from the informed advice of the brokers who accompany them in their decision to fulfil their dream of acquisition in the best possible conditions.

Great athlete, Fred Samuel transmitted his passion for sailing to his sons. This is how in 1966, the Force 10 collection was born: “My elder son had the idea of braiding together marine cables fixed on both sides by rivets, in order to create a bracelet for his wife. He then added a gold clasp in the shape of a carabineer.” Made up of an audacious combination of gold and steel, this bracelet became known as the first sport jewel. An easy-to-wear jewel, casual, that can now be adapted to endless possibilities thanks to its interchangeable bracelet.
