Passport, Visa and Customs All foreign nationals entering Thailand must have valid passports or other valid documents for travel. Participants from certain countries are not required to obtain visas for a temporary visit not exceeding 15 days. It should be, however, noted that the temporary visas issued upon arrival at the Airport cannot be extended beyond the period of 15 days except under extraordinary circumstances. Therefore, it is suggested that all participants consider obtaining official visas from the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate prior to their arrival in Thailand. International certificates of vaccination against yellow fever are required if arriving within 6 days after leaving or transiting an infected area. Following items can be brought in duty free: a) Personal effects such as clothing etc. b) 200 cigarettes or 250 grams of cigar or tobacco. c) 1 litre alcoholic beverages. d) Perfume for personal use. There are no restrictions on import of foreign currency. However, if the amount exceeds US$10,000 it must be declared on entry. Foreign currencies may be taken out of the country up to the amount imported and declared. (Current exchange rate US$1 = Baht 32.00 approx). All commercial banks exchange major foreign currencies and are open from 0830 to 1530 hours from Monday through Friday and some keep the foreign exchange counter open until 2000 hours during weekdays. Foreign exchange counters operated by various commercial banks are located at several places in the city and are also open during Saturdays and Sundays and on public holidays from 1000 to 2000 hours. To change travellers’ cheques you are required to show your passport. Although the tap water in Bangkok is chemically treated, it is recommended to drink only bottled water and beverages. All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, shops and restaurants. The most widely accepted credit cards are Visa and Master Card.
Tipping Tipping is expected but not compulsory. Most restaurants already levy a 10% service charge on the bill. -6-
Currency and Exchange Services The Thai unit of currency is the baht. The baht is divided into 100 satang. Coins are valued at 25 satang, 50 satang, 1 baht, 2 baht, 5 baht and 10 baht. Banknotes are valued at 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 baht. Major currency bills are cashed easily at our hotel, all provincial banks, and money changers. Travelers cheques are best changed in banks (you will need your passport). Credit cards are widely accepted. Electricity The standard voltage in Thailand is 220V. Power outlets usually accommodate flat two pronged plugs, though some feature holes for round plug ends. Only few power outlets feature three holes (grounded outlets) so it is necessary to have a three to two prong adapter when going to Bangkok. Bangkok is the capital of Thailand since 1782 and boasts many of majestic temples that revered by Thai Buddhists which is 95% of its over 68 million populations. Among the most important are The Emerald Buddha Temple and Grand Palace, Reclining Buddha Temple, The Golden Buddha and the Temple of dawn. The Best time to visit is in the morning where the weather is cooler and less crowded. Please note that it is the place of worship and dress code must be followed (No sleeveless, no shorts/short skirts, no flip flop is allowed in the premise). Shopping Centers

From the wholesale fashion at The Platinum Mall, the chic new designers at Siam Center or the supreme luxury at the Central Embassy, Bangkok has everything under the sun for every style and every pocket.
