CANSO Asia Pacific Region
CANSO has five regions, each with a region director. The task of each region is to support CANSO’s Members in the region; promote and implement CANSO’s global vision of seamless and harmonised airspace globally; implement CANSO’s global policies and initiatives at a regional level; and develop tailored regional plans and solutions to improve ATM performance in that region. Each region’s work is guided by a CEO Committee that meets regularly to define and implement regional goals and objectives. The CANSO regions work in close partnership with equivalent regional organisations representing industry stakeholders including ICAO, airlines, airports and others.
Asia Pacific The CANSO Asia Pacific Region was established in 2008. It is a diverse region in terms of types of air navigation service provider (ANSP), technical challenges, traffic management and capacity issues, and cultural and political differences. One of its biggest challenges is how to manage the rapid growth of air travel across the region. CANSO and its Members work closely with States and industry partners to transform air traffic management (ATM) in the region and its efforts are focused on ATM safety and cross-border collaboration such as automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast (ADS-B); air traffic flow management (ATFM); collaborative decision making (CDM), and performance-based navigation (PBN). The region has a vision for safe, seamless and harmonised airspace. It cooperates with States and industry partners to help achieve this vision and through cross-industry groups such as the ICAO Asia Pacific Seamless ATM Planning Group. The Asia Pacific CANSO CEO Committee (APC3) governs and directs CANSO’s work in the Asia Pacific, within the framework of the Organisation’s global policies and positions.
