1.1 Sci-Fi Vernaculars 01 Inside/ Out Phase 2
Projects 03: CIAD5001 18/09/17- 13/12/17 1.1.1 Brief
For Phase 2 of Projects 03 Inside/ Outside, you will be doing your own Sci-Fi Vernacular speculation on the inhabitation of the geodesic dome you will have built on the quad as the outcome of phase one of Projects 03. To help you with this we will be suggesting a future ‘climate’ for each of you to respond to in your speculative designs which you can bring into the space you have built though drawn, modeled, collaged or filmed investigations. What would inhabitation of the dome look like in new vernacular of a changed climate?
1.1.2 Research Presentations Climates Pin-Up Thursday 5th October 2017 Following two weeks of independant study you will be able to present articulately regarding your topic. You will be making a physical presentation of your invesigations on your topic and you should be able to graphically format and represent the research information you have interpreted from at least ten sources. Your sources need to be legitimately published and you can present a bibliography at the end of the presentation. Use books, journals, reliable on-line resources and consider if you think each source is sufficiently detailed and up to date to be part of your professional level presentation. You might like to set up a blog to preset and collate your work as you go. On this day, there will be a further briefing of phase 2 of Inside/Outside. 1.1.3 Climate typologies
The climates above are starting points for your investigations. The MA cohort also have a similar array of climates to start up their postgraduate research process. You might like to find your compatriate with the same or similar climate and discuss your findings, interpretations and investigations.

1.1.4 Outer Realm Wednesdays
To expand your understanding of ways in which space can be explored, represented, speculated on and manipulated, we will be hosting four research seminars over the first few weeks of term. These are moments when across cohorts and in a cross-diciplinary way, we meet and engage with specialist methods of engaging our professional skills, presenting spatial ideas and enjoying some playful experimentation. Research Seminar 1: 27/09 Making This workshop introduces you to the basics of physical computing and coding. You will be getting stuck into the world of movement, interactivity, coding and component. Its the new world and fundamental to our engagement with space in the contemporary environment.
