BUILDING BLOCKS OF SUCCESS: EVALUATING YOUR COMPANY’S BRAND IDENTITY

As a Canton Chamber of Commerce member, it’s essential

to continually assess the strength and effectiveness of your company’s brand identity. Your brand is more than just a logo or color scheme; it embodies your business’s values, personality, and reputation. This article explains the significance of a brand evaluation, outlines the steps in this assessment process, and ideas for enhancing your brand identity.

WHY EVALUATE YOUR BRAND IDENTITY

The company’s brand identity reflects its core values and beliefs and has the potential to influence customer perception, resulting in increased loyalty, the attraction of new customers, and setting your company apart from competitors. By evaluating this, you can understand your brand’s position, including strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities, and identify and correct any problems. A brand evaluation can help to ensure that your brand stays relevant and aligned with business objectives as your business expands and transforms over time.

STEPS TO EVALUATING YOUR BRAND IDENTITY:

1.Conduct a Brand Audit: Evaluate your brand’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to help identify gaps and areas for improvement in strategy, identity, and communication.

2.Define Your Brand Story: Clarify your brand story by identifying what sets your business apart, your mission and values, and the emotional connection you aim to create with your target audience.

3.Evaluate Brand Perception: Gather feedback from customers and employees to gain insight into how your brand is perceived in the market.

4.Assess Brand Consistency: Review branding on your company’s website, social media platforms and marketing materials to ensure your brand elements are consistently applied, and the messaging remains coherent and aligned with your values.

5.Competitive Analysis: Conduct a competitive analysis to benchmark your brand identity against industry peers and competitors.

6.Review Brand Guidelines: Ensure existing brand guidelines are up-to-date and comprehensive, or consider developing new ones if needed.

ENHANCING YOUR BRAND IDENTITY:

• Refine visual identity by updating or refreshing design elements such as the logo, color scheme, font styles, and imagery to ensure they reflect your brand’s essence and resonate with your audience.

• Develop impactful messaging by creating clear and persuasive brand communications that articulate your unique selling points, values, and customer benefits. Tailor your messaging to different target segments and ensure consistency across all communication channels.

• Engage employees by educating and empowering them to consistently embody and communicate your brand values in their interactions with customers and stakeholders.

• Monitor and evolve your company’s brand identity by keeping track of market trends, customer feedback, and industry shifts to adapt and evolve your brand identity to stay relevant and competitive.

By following these steps and committing to regular brand assessments, you can ensure that your brand identity remains a powerful asset that resonates with your audience and steers your business toward success. As a Canton Chamber of Commerce member, consider contacting UB Advertising for professional branding services to elevate your brand presence.

How Much Is Your Brand Respected?

During the first two decades of the 21st century, more than ever before, businesses have been touting their brands. In doing so many of those businesses have been focusing on brandishing their logos or brandmarks, making them the centerpieces of their public identities. That’s understandable since businesses have invested in creating their logos or brandmarks - often supplemented with taglines - and show them on everything from business cards to website homepages to signage and so on.

Too few of those businesses have been sufficiently emphasizing what, in fact, constitutes a brand. It is far more than an icon. Some businesses - both for-profit and non-profit -understand that. They are the ones that embrace the enduring reality that a brand stands as the composite of innovation, superior product design, quality engineering, manufacturing, attention to detail in all facets, reliability, superior customer or client service, integrity, community involvement and respect.

Aggregate all those factors and one sees that a brand, at its core, is reputation. That concept - that reality - is fully embraced by companies that have prospered, weathered difficult economic times, stand the best chance of taking on a range of challenges, and winning the enduring loyalty of customers, employees, suppliers and other valued constituents.

How do you assess the strength of your brand? Its respect?

One service SCORE provides is serving as a sounding board for clients who would value an outside-in perspective on their brands and actions that can be taken to strengthen them.

You can learn more about SCORE at www.score.org/canton or emailing cantonscore@gmail.com. SCORE Canton serves for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations in Stark, Tuscarawas, Holmes, Harrison Carroll and Columbiana counties.

Claim Impact Reduction Program formerly One Claim Program

The Claim Impact Reduction Program (CIRP) is a voluntary program that employers may participate in to limit the impact of a single significant claim for the duration the claim remains in their experience.

To participate in CIRP, you must have a single significant claim entering your experience for the first time. A significant claim is one whose total cost exceeds the total limited losses for an employer based on size and industry calculated for that policy year. You may only designate one significant claim every four years.

Eligibility requirements

• Be enrolled in a group-rating program.

• Have a single significant claim entering into the experience for the first time that prevents the TPA from renewing the policy in group experience rating the following year.

• Not have more than three minor claims, in addition to the significant claim, during the experience period.

• Be current (no more than 45 days past due) on any and all payments due to BWC as of the application deadline.

• Be current on the payment schedule of any part-pay agreement entered into for the payment of premiums or assessments.

• Not have cumulative lapses in workers’ compensation coverage in excess of 40 days within the 12 months preceding the application deadline.

• Report actual payroll for the preceding policy year, and pay any premium due upon reconciliation of estimated premium and actual premium for that policy year no later than the application deadline.

How it works

An employer who meets all the eligibility requirements will receive the following upfront discount off the base rate: 20% during the first year in the program; 15% in the second year; 10% in the third year; 5% in the fourth year

Application deadline and additional program requirements

Private employers - Applications due by the last business day in January preceding the policy year that starts July 1.

Public employers - Applications due by the last business day in July preceding the policy year that starts Jan. 1.

To maintain eligibility in CIRP, employers must:

• Not allow the total cost of the three minor claims to exceed their total limited losses calculated for that policy year.

• Attend a half-day class or a three-hour online class offered by our Division of Safety & Hygiene each year.

• Complete training by the deadline, for private employers the last business day of March, for public employers the last business day of September.

• Remain current on any premiums, assessments or other monies due to BWC.

You must submit an application by the application deadline for your first year in the program. BWC will determine initial and ongoing eligibility based on claims activity during the experience period. Eligible employers will be enrolled in the program automatically in years 2 through 4. BWC maintains the right to remove an employer from the program if it does not meet eligibility requirements.

Roofsmith Restoration (ROOFING, SIDING, WINDOWS)

Sarah Johnson 122 Western Ave. Akron, OH 44216 (330)805-6945

sarah@roof-smith.com www.roof-smith.com

Roofsmith Restoration was born in the summer of 2009, while the recession was on.

High-quality tradesmen were sitting home due to the collapse of the home building market here in North East Ohio. The idea of putting these master craftsmen back to work was the brainchild of Mike Farist.

From the very first Amish crew that put on the very first roof; Roofsmith has adhered to a very old, simple, and powerful business model. Treat everyone in the loop of a project as important, and in fact as slightly more important than the company itself. This applies to the customer, the men performing the work, the estimators measuring and figuring out the job, and it even applies to the manufacturers and suppliers of the materials used. By putting all these folks higher than ourselves, we have created a family of employees, suppliers, and customers that have guaranteed success.

It is this commitment to others that has fueled our growth during the last 5 years. We really care about our property owners satisfaction from the estimator to the office staff to the crews performing the work. In short, at Roofsmith Restoration, we add value! Schedule your free inspection today!
