BOOST CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT AND STREAMLINE YOUR SALES PROCESS WITH EMAIL AUTOMATION
While traditional email campaigns can e ectively deliver general updates about your services, products, and the latest developments, imagine the potential of sending personalized emails to those subscribers that are uniquely tailored to their interests and are set on autopilot—generating ongoing engagement, interest and furthering them down your sales pipeline.
Using automated email campaigns that segment users based on demographics, geolocation, industry type, speci c behaviors such as browsing history, or cross or upsell your services and products are great examples of automated email campaigns your company can develop to boost awareness and engagement and drive revenue.
ARE AUTOMATED EMAIL MARKETING CAMPAIGNS RIGHT FOR MY BUSINESS?
Any size business can bene t from these tailored email marketing campaigns. Automated emails are “always on,” providing a consistent and personalized communication channel, helping nurture leads, increasing customer engagement, and boosting sales and marketing e orts.
HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH CREATING AUTOMATED EMAIL MARKETING CAMPAIGNS?
To start creating automated email marketing campaigns, develop a game plan and strategy that outlines your goals, target audience, messaging, and desired outcomes. Then, research and choose an email marketing tool that aligns with your needs and budget, ensuring it o ers automation features, ease of use, and scalability to support your campaign objectives.
WHAT ARE EXAMPLES OF EMAIL MARKETING AUTOMATION TOOLS WE CAN CONSIDER?
Many tools are available for email marketing automation, ranging from simple and a ordable to complex and featurerich. Here are some popular email marketing automation tools to consider:
•Mailchimp: a user-friendly and a ordable email marketing platform suitable for small and mid-sized businesses, o ering automation features such as welcome emails, abandoned cart emails, and post-purchase follow-ups.
•HubSpot: a powerful automation tool for larger businesses with advanced marketing needs, o ering features such as lead scoring, segmentation, and personalized work ows that integrate with sales and customer service.
•ActiveCampaign: a comprehensive marketing automation platform suitable for businesses of all sizes, with features
such as behavioral triggers, lead segmentation, email personalization, and powerful automation work ows.
IF MY BUSINESS ALREADY IMPLEMENTS EMAIL MARKETING AUTOMATION, HOW CAN WE ENHANCE ITS EFFECTIVENESS?
You can improve your email marketing automation with:
•Targeted Segmentation by dividing your audience into speci c segments for personalized messaging.
•Dynamic Content by using dynamic content to tailor emails based on recipient behaviors and preferences.
•Automated Work ows by creating automated work ows to send timely and relevant emails based on customer actions.
•A/B Testing with regularly-conducted A/B testing to optimize subject lines, content, and call-to-action elements.
•Data Analysis using data analytics to track and analyze email performance, then re ne strategies based on insights.

How to Price Your Products and Build an E ective Online Sales Channel
If you’re like most small business owners, you’ll likely make some common mistakes early on.
Two big ones involve pricing and sales – failing to develop a coherent pricing strategy for products and services and failing to think through the intricacies of online sales channels. Both can slow down your pro tability and, consequently, your ability to start earning revenue.
But how do you set prices that work for your business? And how do you establish a pro table e-commerce presence to reach potential customers online?
HOW TO PRICE YOUR GOODS
Accurately pricing your products and services is one of the most important things you can do for your business. Price them too low, and you’ll be seen as lacking value. Too high and you risk pricing your target market out of a sale.
Here are the most common pricing methods you can use:
•Cost-plus pricing: Under this method, the sale price is the cost to you to make the product or provide the service, plus a speci ed pro t margin.
•Value-based pricing: This is essentially just pricing your products according to what customers are willing to pay, regardless of how much it costs to deliver the product. For example, two t-shirts made from the same material can sell for $10 or $100, depending on whose name is on the label. An e-book is essentially free to deliver, but the information inside can be priceless.
•Wholesale vs. retail pricing: You should set your retail price rst, and then determine what kind of “discount” you can o er as a wholesale price. It should cover your cost to deliver the goods and provide a pre-determined pro t margin.
•Tiered, volume and bundled pricing: Tiered pricing is essentially an o shoot of volume pricing. It o ers discounts for higher volume purchases that increase as order volume increases. Volume pricing sets one lower price for all orders above a certain amount. Bundled pricing o ers lower overall pricing if you buy complementary products together— cable and internet service, for example, or home and auto insurance.
USE UPSELLING & CROSS-SELLING TO BOOST PROFITS
You can increase per-transaction revenue by borrowing a couple of tactics from larger corporations — cross-selling and upselling. Upselling is simply o ering a “premier” variation of your product or service — Silver, Gold and Platinum level memberships, for example. Or an upgraded version of your product with additional features.
Similarly, by o ering additional products or services that complement the customer’s initial purpose — called cross-selling — you can increase the amount customers spend per transaction. If you sell bicycles, you could o er helmets and locks, for example. A good mentor can help you brainstorm ways to use these two tactics to increase revenue.
CONSIDERATIONS FOR SELLING ONLINE
Whether you have a physical location or not, selling online o ers various advantages. It can expose your brand to a wider audience, raise brand awareness and o er convenience to customers who prefer shopping from home.
You have several options when it comes to selling your products online — your website, online marketplaces and social networks. Focusing your online sales e ort on your website has some distinct advantages — you own what happens there and own the customer relationship, which is crucially important. You aren’t subject to the whims of a third party determining how, when and to whom you can sell. But it can be expensive and time-consuming to start a website from scratch.
On the other hand, third-party marketplaces bring with them built-in tra c and search engine optimization to bring customers to you. Your social media pro les can also be a source of revenue, after you’ve built a solid audience of prospects who are interested in you and your o ers. However, these platforms can change their rules at any time, and you’ll be competing with dozens, hundreds or even thousands of other businesses who may be similar to yours. So, consider the trade-o .
Remember, also, that you’ll need a solid ful llment system in place to pack and ship orders, no matter which platform generated them.
Consulting with a mentor can be a good idea here as well. A mentor can help you not only with strategy but may be able to connect you with specialists who can help you build and market your own site, and leverage third-party marketplaces for more customers.

Industrial air monitoring in the workplace
Monitoring for indoor air contaminants at work is crucial for maintaining a healthy and productive environment. Poor air quality can lead to various health issues, including respiratory problems, headaches, fatigue as well as affect morale and productivity. Many areas in a facility, such as production, warehouses, chemical storage and offices have the potential for air contaminants. You may need to do some investigating at your facility to determine which process(es) may be contributing to employee exposure. Areas that are smoky, dusty, misty, have strong chemical odors or areas where employees are exposed to open containers of chemicals, such as bins, vats or mixing tanks may be a place to start.
Once you have identified areas to test, you must decide what air contaminant to test for.The challenge is identifying the air contaminants that could cause health problems among employees. You may need to evaluate the SDS's to identify the ingredients and their percentages of the overall makeup of the chemical. This should give you some guidance on what to test for.The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has established employee exposure limits on over 500 chemicals. These exposure limits are known as PEL’s or permissible exposure limits. The PEL of a chemical is based on the average concentration of a chemical to which workers can be exposed over an 8-hour workday, 5 days per week, for a lifetime without receiving damaging effects. The list of PEL’s can be found at: 1910.1000 TABLE Z-1 - TABLE Z-1 Limits for Air Contaminants | Occupational Safety and Health Administration (osha.gov) As you review the list, you will see that exposure limits vary depending on the chemical. Those with lower exposure limits signify a more hazardous effect on employees.
Once you’ve devised a monitoring plan, you need to have the monitoring completed.Typically, this can be done by a consulting group or the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC). The monitoring devices are pumps that must be calibrated to collect the air contaminant on specific collection media. For example, charcoal media is used to collect various types of solvent vapors, and filters are used to collect different types of dust. The pumps are placed on the employee during the monitoring period, and the air sample is collected near the employee's breathing zone.
After testing, the media is submitted to a laboratory for analysis.Once the results are received, they are compared to the PEL’s from OSHA’s list. Results below PEL’s generally require no action, but results above the PEL’s would require the employer to look at ways to reduce employee exposure. A good way to do this is by using the Hierarchy of Controls, which identifies a preferred order of actions to best control hazardous workplace exposures. The actions are arranged in order of the most effective to the least effective ways to prevent exposure: elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls and personal protective equipment.
Once corrective measures have been implemented, it is recommended that a follow-up test be conducted to confirm that target air contaminants have been eliminated or reduced below the applicable limits. It is important to note that although legally enforceable, many PEL’s were developed years ago and many are only infrequently updated, meaning that they may not be reflective of current information and technology. However, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has developed their own exposure limits known as Recommended Exposure Limits (REL’s) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) has established Threshold Limit Values (TLV’s). The REL’s and TLV’s are not enforceable limits, but they may offer greater employee protections because these two organizations update their exposure recommendations based on more recent research and studies.
There are many benefits to investigating the need for air monitoring at your facility. Of course, the number one concern is the safety of employees, but remember compliance with regulations, increased morale, efficiency, productivity and an overall good safety culture. By systematically monitoring and managing indoor air quality, workplaces can create a healthier, more comfortable environment for employees.
If you need help identifying potential hazards in your workplace, please contact Andy Sawan, Risk Services Specialist at Sedgwick at andrew.sawan@sedgwick.com or 330-819-4728.

The Canton Regional Chamber ofCommerce andAultCare have partnered together to o er a healthcare plan for the small business community through a Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA). The MEWA was developed to provide additional options and to help control the costs of healthcare bene ts. Medically underwritten MEWA rates may provide a less expensive option than a smaller community rated plan obtained under the A ordable Care Act (ACA). This plan is available for small group employers with less than 50 employees.
