Local Non-profits Welcome Young Professionals Part of a successful non-profit board is finding board members who share the vision and passion for the organization. The Speedboarding program does that by bringing non-profit directors and board chairs together in the same room with interested young professionals from the Spotlight Stark County class. The organization and the participants progress through a series of six or seven interviews with non-profit representatives. The young professionals learn about the mission and programs of the non-profit and the organization gauges the interest and skill set of the participants. Both groups present Spotlight Stark County Participant

Matched with

Leadership Stark County with their rankings and the matches are made. The Spotlight Stark County member will serve as a non-voting provisional board member for up to one year. Within that time frame, they will become familiar with the organization, attend board meetings with an assigned board mentor, and ideally be elected to a board. In addition, the young professionals attended the Better Boards Seminar in January in preparation for their board involvement.
