Two new lifeguards are soon to be on the list to give Eurana Park the help needed when the Eurana Park swimming pond opens for the season this weekend. Two Weatherly boroughowned properties on Hudsondale Street will be advertised for sale in an upcoming JournalHerald. Sealed bids need to be delivered or mailed to Weatherly Borough ahead of the July meeting (details will be in the ad). An ordinance to permit the Citizens Fire Company to bill for expenses from a fire response will also be advertised. It was noted that the Fire Company will be billing insurance companies through the borough. Borough solicitor James Nanovic remarked that area fire companies who have an ordinance like this to use are seeing some success in getting reimbursed. The ordinance will be voted for at the July meeting. Mayor P.J. Hadzick commented that it will be good to have the properties back on the tax rolls. It was
also noted there is interest for one of the properties as a new home site. In other business at the Weatherly Borough council meeting on June 27, council gave permission to organizers of the Weatherly Festival on August 26 and 27 to use Eurana Park, and for the Fire Company to hold a parade as part of their 125th Anniversary Celebration on August 27. Council also gave the okay to sell some surplus items, and to remove the obsolete climbing tower from the playground at Eurana Park as well as the old bleacher frames from the ballfield. Various metal items will be gathered to be sold as scrap. Council and the mayor welcomed Chad Maleski as the newest member of the Street Department. Also about the park, a variety of benches are missing the wood slats. The parks crew will be putting the slats in to get the benches back into use for the summer. See WEATHERLY, page 4
