Penn Lake Council may end White Haven Police coverage by Seth Isenberg
At July 14th’s meeting of Penn Lake borough council, as regular business wound down, council member David Longmore made a speech about the White Haven Police (WHP), their work, and in particular, an
incident from last summer that remains unresolved. That speech was submitted to The Journal-Herald and is printed on page 5. In short, Longmore is unhappy with the police and the 4+ hours of WHP time each week that Penn Lake pays for under their old con-
tract with White Haven borough. He wants to consider having the borough depend on free State Police coverage and use the $10,300 spent by Penn Lake for the WHP for other quality of life things, like speed bumps.

The term is set up with six automatic five-year renwals, and the borough will receive an additional $7,500 in 2029 if the lease is still in effect Another lease renewal with EZY Water was agreed to, but with less enthusiasm. Council member Bob
Lamson noted that it was ironic that water usage went up substantially the month the renewal was due, after a period of minimum payments. Because the agreement would have expired at the end of the month, and water payments make up a significant percent of the See WHITE HAVEN, page 5
