Lehigh Supervisors hear about Indian Run Road STR situation by Ruth Isenberg

Problems with a property being used for short-term rental on Indian Run Road in Lehigh Township were brought before the township supervisors for the second meeting in a row on September 7. Township resident Gary Heydt, who lives on the road, brought photos of cars parked on the road near the home, as well as sample ordinances

from neighboring communities reguating short-term rentals. Among their concerns is the lack of off-street parking, which has resulted in vehicles parking on and partially blocking the road. Zoning officer Bob Selert said he had been out to the site three times during the month and did not see any vehicles; he asked that people call him at the time that a situation is

happening. Supervisor Len Weston said he had found the property listed online for rent. Heydt maintained that a Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision had been issued that would prohibit short-term rentals in an R-1 residential zone. He added that during the past month, the property had been rented for 19 days, with up to 10 people there at one time. See LEHIGH, page 5

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER brought out over 100 cars to the 60th running of the Weatherly HillClimb this past weekend. Ceremonies on Sunday dedicated the newly constructed pavilion. JH: Seth Isenberg

Kidder Township to look at fire apparatus needs by Seth Isenberg

ROAD REALLY CLOSED: River Road in Kidder Township had been closed after Hurricane Henri, but barriers were temporary. Last week, PennDOT put up concrete barriers to prevent through traffic. JH: Ruth Isenberg

Kidder Supervisors, at their September meeting, made short work of their agenda. As both the Lake Harmony and Albrightsville Fire Companies are looking to replace aging fire equipment, supervisors scheduled a public meeting on September 28 to hear company representatives, and wade

into the finances. That meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the municipal building. Lake Harmony needs a tanker/pumper and Albrightsville’s needs are for an engine/rescue. Bids arrived and were opened before this meeting See KIDDER, page 5
