Garbage fees sure to rise in Weatherly, but amount in doubt by Seth Isenberg

Weatherly Borough garbage bills will rise in 2022, but by how much is still to be worked out. At Weatherly Borough Council’s September meeting, held on the 27th, bids were to be opened for the next garbage contract. Only one company submitted prices for one, three and five year terms, and all these were double the previous contract. This led to a discussion about what the borough needs to do for the costs to be lower. In other business, council adopted the new burning ordinance, and voted to advertise the updated vehicle ordinance. Council authorized manager Pudliner to seek a $73,000 local share grant to fund the replacement of at least one of the borough’s aging police cruisers. Two of these have over 100,000 miles on them.
