Desiree Casares
Desiree Calista (Costanzo) Casares, 62, of Mount Pocono passed away suddenly on Monday, June 5, 2023 at her home in Mount Pocono. Born in Paradise Valley, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Shirley A. (Stuart) Costanzo. She was the beloved wife of the late Luis Casares. Desiree attended high school in West Germany. Desiree’s love was unlike any other’s. It was shown through her dedication to her children, family, friends, church, and community. Notorious for her big hugs and her bright smile, she brought joy and comfort to everybody she encountered. Her generosity and ability to lend a helping hand were unmatched. Some knew her as a photographer, others remember her as a Sunday school teacher, and many will cherish her as the mom who threw the best pool parties, but one thing is certain, everyone who knew Desiree will remember her by her beautiful heart and tenacious spirit.
Desiree will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Alexandra Leigh Casares and Victoria Ashley Casares; step-daughter, Teresa Orrico-Hickman; step-son, Richard Casares; sister, Dorothy Matula and her husband Bruce; brothers, Daniel Costanzo and his wife Jayne, Dean Costanzo and his wife Marta, David Corliss and Eric Costanzo; nieces, Sarah Matula and Lauren Corliss; nephews, James Matula and Zachary Corliss; and 8 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on June 9, at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 236 Pa-390, Cresco. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco Pa 18326, to defray funeral expenses.

JOYCE E. SMITH
Joyce E. Smith, 95, of Kresgeville, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in her home.
She was the loving wife of the late Amandus F. Smith. They had been married for 72 years before his passing in 2019.
Born in Kresgeville, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Mary (Anthony) Smale.
She had worked at Scotty’s Fashions in Kresgeville for over 45 years.
Joyce was a long-time member of Salem United Church of Christ in Gilbert and also a member of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, Donald Smith and his wife Phyllis of Parryville, Calvin Smith of Gilbert, and Carl Smith and his wife Anna of Palmerton; two sisters, Luella Brown of Allentown and Grace Behler of Palmerton; five grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Graveside services in Gilbert Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
The Kresge Funeral Home, Brodheadsville, is in charge of arrangements.
