STR amendment hearing scheduled by Tobyhanna Township by Ruth Isenberg
Tobyhanna Township supervisors have called a special meeting for a public hearing on the proposed Short Term Rental Ordinance and associated Zoning Ordinance amendment for June 28 at 6 p.m. at the Pocono Mountain West High School auditorium. At the June 6 township supervisors meeting, the minutes of the March 23 special meeting for STRs were approved. At that meeting, township secretary Crystal Butler announced that the amendments would be posted soon on the township website. They are now available at tobyhannatownshippa.gov. The agenda for the special meeting had not yet been posted as of press time. When asked if the board would vote on the ordinances at the special meeting, board chair John Kerrick noted that they would have the option to vote on the amendments that night, or they could choose to continue the meeting and/or vote at a later date. He added that speakers would have 2 minutes to comment, and he hoped that comments would address the contents of the amendments, and not repeat the same comments as before.
Based on the Planning Commission’s recommen dation, supervisors decided to address the question of chickens under the nuisance ordinance. Only one or two complaints have been received. The solicitor was authorized to prepare an amendment dealing with issues like noise and odor. An engineering proposal from Penonni Engineering for phase II of the I-380 ramp relocation was approved from $338,000. Financial security reductions were approved for Tobyhanna Site LLC for their site, and for Hudock road, at $368,168 and $241,743 respectively. Kerrick abstained on both votes. A request for a donation for a stream gauge for Pocono Creek from the Monroe County Conservation District was tabled, and a letter was authorized advising them to make the request at budget time. Juliet Dunham express thanks to the fire company for their quick work putting out a fire at the garage of the rectory at St. Maximillian Kolbe Parish. The supervisors will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 20, in-person and online. The special meeting will also be available online. Visit the township website for details.

New director, new look at Clymer Library by Lori R. Cooper
Mary Stewart-Erm is the new director of Clymer Library, since January 2022. Former director Becky Wanamaker had an unexpected opportunity and presented the board with Stewart-Erm as her replacement. Stewart-Erm was planning
to retire after being the assistant director of Eastern Monroe Public Library since 1996 but decided to take this new position. Board Members Dori and Phil Whitehurst (president and treasurer), Emily Daly, John Bloise, Ilene Daggett (secretary), Trudy Denlinger (vice -president) and Valerie Yura agreed that Stewart-
Erm would be a good fit for the library. ‘Oceans of Possibilities’ is the library’s theme for summer reading. Pocono Mountain West High School art students painted the library windows with bright colored ocean themes. Registration began June 13 with the program starting See CLYMER, page 2
