Best laid plans…
by Ruth Isenberg
…or, When it rains, it pours.
A recent incident with a deep pothole (NOT at The Lake) has introduced me to the world of casts and crtuches. My broken ankle is giving me a new appreciation for the ADA accommodations that provide access to public places.
It’s also given me an even deeper appreciation for the kindness of strangers, and the love of my family and friends. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to help those of us who temporarily, or permanently, need a little assistance.
Needless to say, I am very glad this happened in March instead of January. While we still need to be prepared for snow, it now melts quickly. The day of my surgery, it reached 60°, and as John Denver so eloquently said, “Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.” With any luck, I’ll be able to spend time out on my patio as I heal.
Back to the title, best laid plans. We had some activities planned this spring that won’t happen, others that will but in a different way. But we will be out and about, enjoying all that spring has to offer, just keeping a better eye out for hazards.
