The first week of July is the unofficial birthday of Capital Ideas so we’ve decided it’s the perfect time to celebrate your achievements. Last summer, Capital Ideas Calgary began asking entrepreneurs weekly questions in the Calgary Herald. And three years ago, July 3, 2012, we held our first panel event at the Edmonton Journal. That’s why we’re highlighting how far we’ve come together and to thank you, our members, for all of the insights and experience you’ve shared with other entrepreneurs. You make this community what it is. You make it great! We hope to continue building better cities with you for years to come.

From “Call off the dogs: Increase your success by removing negativity” by Megan Armstrong, owner of Dogma Training & Pet Services (dogmatraining.com):
“Unless someone steals an exact full program of yours or a specific name, try your best not to think about how they stole it from you, and instead think how wonderful it is to see they are offering it as well, and take it as a sign this new service is obviously in demand and will be successful.”
From “Is your website helping or hurting? Ditch these outdated web trends” Ryan Hnetka, founder of App Guys (appguys.ca):
From “New Italian Centre Shop Calgary opens July 2nd” by Teresa Spinelli, owner of the Italian Centre Shop Ltd. (italiancentre.ca):
“...your website has 15 seconds to grab the attention of visitors, so what is your site doing to keep them there? Staying on top of your website is always important, but if you have a high bounce rate on your site, it could be because you’re stuck on outdated web design trends.”
“The Italian Centre Shop’s first Calgary store at 9919 Fairmount Drive, opens July 2nd. The ICS is Western Canada’s oldest and largest culinary destination, established in Edmonton in 1959. The family business is set to expand across Alberta and beyond.”
